I am Vodafone corporate connection customer with mobile number [protected]
I recently moved to Nokia Lumia 720
I got a call just after my billing date that my credit limit is crossed and need to make a payment.
On enquiring more details on the usage, I came to know the data connection was in use and charges are incurred for the same.
The data download was done through WiFi connection with both data and WiFi Connections ON.
I then found that the data connection is ON in my phone and turned it OFF immediately.
I visited the madhapur Vodafone store to get answers for the following queries,
1. Why the data connection is ON by default in the new phone
2. Why Vodafone is charging for data downloaded through WiFi
The executive in store gave the below response.
1. I have to check with the hand set provider on why the data connection is ON by default.
2. when both data and wifi are ON ,it is data connection which is selected to download data
I was suprised to hear his response that high speed Wifi is not choosen but a lower speed data connection is choosen for data download.
To confirm the same I checked with Nokia priority show room and found that it is WiFi which is choosen when both data and Wifi are ON.
The Nokia Lumia 720 product specification clearly gives the information that WiFi is selected when both data and WiFi are ON.
This makes things clear that Vodafone has charged me incorrectly for data downloaded through WiFi connection
I called Vodafone care (111) on 22 May and explained the same and they raised a waiver request for the data charges along with service tax for the same.
[protected] is the service request and it is supposed to be resolved by 25th May.
Till 25th May I daily get calls to pay the bill and I respond saying service request is in progress and I would pay the bill once waiver is given.
On 25th I got a call from some number which I couldn't pick as I was in driving.
On 26th I got a call for bill payment request and enquiring the service request status they informed that the request is closed.
On top of this my services are barred.
This is totally un ethically behavior from Vodafone.
They call a customer daily for bill payment but can't they reach customer and explain the techinicalities before closing any service request ?
I called customer care to discuss the same and the executive kept me in hold for 15mins for connecting the call to his supervisor.
This is again weird and I guess these are cheap tactics played by MNCs when there is mistakes on their end.
Currently my services are barred.
It would be better if Vodafone can have some point of contacts to resolve cutomer issues with priority rather than the puppet customer care executives who are techincally illeterates.
PS: Here is the link for Nokia Lumia 720 user guide where it clearly mentions that the Phone selects WiFi Connection when both data and wifi are ON

I would like to request Vodafone and its executives to have proper knowledge to respond to customer and also charge customer properly.

Vodafone — Services Barred!
Hi All,Sadly, I've to take other routes to get some resolutions.
My name is Gurpreet and i'm dealing with Vodafone Care for a while now and getting nowhere. I paid my complete Mobile Bill on the 13th of April, 2010 for the billed amount and still my services are barred against the fact that my Payment DOES NOT reflect on my account.
Despite of numerous attempts and irritating calls from Vodafone Care and Collection teams, they've not been able to figure out where that money is lost.
I made the payment to an executive who came to my place to collect the payment and now i'm getting a strong feeling that he was a fraud.
Inspite of numerous attempts made, i'm the one who is suffering even after making the payments.
Does any one have any idea how to mold this issue towards a resolution?????
