Defective iPhone, and Croma made a return/refund harder at every step
Bought the iPhone 17 Pro Max from Croma online, delivered 15 October. It was my first iPhone at 52, chosen only for its sound quality. From the first days, the audio volume rose and dropped on its own during music and podcast playback, with every audio setting turned off. Video recorded.
I reported it on 17 October, two days after delivery and well inside the return window. Croma’s website showed the product out of stock and directed me to the refund option, which I selected. What followed:
Three different ticket numbers for one complaint
Generic “please allow us time” replies with no decision
A phone call adding a new condition: first visit the Apple service centre
A template email meant for “products other than mobile”, for a mobile phone
Emails to customer support, the grievance officer and the nodal officer have produced no decision so far.
I chose Croma over every other seller because of the TATA name. For Rs 1.36 lakh, a customer reporting a defect within 2 days deserves a quick, clear resolution, not a run-around. Think twice before buying expensive phones from Croma online. Buy from a store where you can test the phone before paying. Never Ever Buy anything from Croma
I will update this review if Croma resolves it properly.
