Dell India — issue with my newly purchased dell vostro 3491 laptop/ service tag (s/n): 3sv6b53/ express service code: [protected]

Address:CD 86/A, 7 Udayan Pally, Ashwininagar, Baguihati, Kolkata: 700159

I’ve purchased a dell vostro 3491 laptop on 21st of august 2020 (I. E. Not even a month’s old) as i needed to perform office work & online classes from home due to covid 19 situation. But sadly all my projects are on hold since this piece of junk is been giving me below issues:

Issue no. 1: system is giving me ‘electric shocks’ every now & then, specially when connected to charger. Even my 8 years old nephew got electric shock the other day while taking using the system. When i called the dell technical support the agent gave me a lame excuse saying ‘my building may have earthing issue’. Fyi: i’ve got 1 desktop & another lenovo laptop at my place since 2008 and they never gave us issue of this kind.

Issue no. 2: both inbuild & external sources microphones are not working since day one. Because of which i’ve not been able to attend my virtual office conferences & online classes. Needless to say that because of this i’m loosing out on time & money. Dell support agent couldn’t figure our any problem to that & said ‘it’s very small issue’.

Issue no. 3: one o[censored]sb ports is not working. It’s not recognizing my usb drive, giving an error saying it’s ‘malfunctioned’. The error came up while the dell agent was working on my computer through remote access.

Issue no. 4: mouse pad is acting weird. It’s occasionally showing right click options while tapping for left.

Issue no. 5: screen brightness automatically adjust itself to 100% even when it’s set on less than 50%. Even night mode doesn’t work properly as well. It’s set to pick up the sunset-sunrise timing based on my given location but it does not work.

Issue no. 6: i bought this system specifically only with ssd to avoid any lag/ latency. But it’s started taking longer than usual to boot up occasionally.

Issue no. 7: i’ve even experienced screen flickering once.

Issue no. 8: the ‘inverted comma’ key on the keypad does not respond properly. Every time i have to tap on it twice to make it work.

Issue no. 9: dell india claims to sell 'made in india' products on their website but actually delivers 'made in china' products to their customers.

Both of the dell technical support agents (I. E. Mr. Harshavardhan thati and sandeep) failed to resolve my issue & they seemed eager to get rid the call asap. They never called me back.

I wonder whether did i pay for all these additional problems as well?? I demand for a new system replacement as soon as possible. (Ps * please don’t bother me sending refurbished parts or system to resolve this as aware of the fact that dell india support does that)

This is regards to the telephonic conversation an the email below that I’ve received from one of your “Advanced Resolution Services” executive Mr. Rohan Mehta. I must say that I’m disgusted with the services & customer communication of Dell India. Here’re the reasons why:

- On 15 September 2020 I’ve had a discussion with Mr. Rohan Mehta about the various issues of my newly purchased Vostro 3491 notebook followed by that a new system replacement request was placed by him. In that conversation I’ve categorically expressed my frustration about receiving a ‘China Made” piece of junk. Also, I asked that person why is that Dell.co.in promotes ‘’Made in India’’ products on their website but ships ‘’China made’’ system to their customers? And his answer was ‘’Dell has two manufacturing unit (i.e. One in China & the other one in Chennai)’’, Later, he assured me that my new system will be manufactured in Chennai hub because that’s exactly what I wanted (i.e. refer my previous emails below).
- Now, on the 28 September 2020 at 15:38 I’ve received an email (i.e. below) from him stating ‘’ the new system is In Production and is expected to be shipped by 30th September 2020 from our ‘overseas hub.’ I wasn’t sure why he wrote that so I decided to call him asking for a clarification and his clarification was bizarre.
- Firstly, he said my system (New order #[protected] is not being manufactured in Chennai hub, instead it’s being assembled somewhere else in the world but China. --- Bizarre response no.1
- Secondly, when I asked ‘’where is being manufactured?’’ he had no idea about it instead, he replied saying “I need to check & get back to you”. My question is how did he assure me in the first place that the system is not getting manufactured in China. It’s nothing but keeping me in dark about the whole situation.

To conclude I must say that I’ve been amazed by the continues lies from Dell India executives. You guys sell cheap products on your website saying it’s “Made in India”’ but actually manufacture the products in anywhere but India and on top of that keep your customers in dark by making false promises.

Please do me a favor take your existing piece of junk back and refund my entire purchase money. I don’t want to deal with Dell anymore, neither I want any product from you guys. I’ve completely lost faith in you guys.
