I had booked an international return ticket between New Delhi and San Francisco (SFO) Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 08:13AM. The ticket was issued for American Airlines to travel on 14-Nov-2023 from SFO to DEL and from DEL to SFO on 01-Dec-2023. Regrettably, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, I found myself in the regrettable position of needing to cancel this ticket. In response, I reached out to the agency, Easemytrip.com, before the end of 24 hrs of booking via email and engaged in numerous online chat interactions with their representatives. However, each time, I was informed that my ticket was non-refundable and, consequently, could not be canceled.
In an attempt to resolve this matter, I shared with the agency a circular issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry, which explicitly states that "No charge cancellation or amendment is applicable within 24 hours of booking." Furthermore, I provided them with the refund and cancellation rules outlined by the airline, which also confirm that there are no fees associated with cancellations made within 24 hours of booking.
Despite presenting this clear and compelling evidence, the agency remained unyielding in their stance, refusing to facilitate the cancellation of my ticket. I even implored them to connect me with a senior member of their management team, but regrettably, no supervisor or manager exhibited the willingness to address this issue directly with me.
This is the case of cheating where the travel agency didn’t honor the Govt of India guidelines and declined to proceed with cancellation/refund.
