[Resolved]  Ebay.in — product dispatch or refund

Hi

I received a call from [protected] (Rakhi jaiswal) stating they belong to e-bay sales and promotion dept. And my account has been selected for special promotion wherein i would receive a gift (One selected from: sony bravia screen or dell laptop or lg refrigerator or i-phone 6s) for which i have to purchase anything from e-bay for rs. 4000/-. I was told that this is a special promotion and i would have to make the payment via paytm to the qrcode they sent to my whatsapp and that i would get my cash-back 20% in my paytm account the next day and the gift delivered upon payment, none of which happened. Further they threatened that the company would take legal action if i don't make the payment on the qr code, and it is used elsewhere. I made the payment thru paytm (After selecting a lava a77 mobile from e-bay) after which the next day i received a call from [protected] (Stating e-bay despatch manager mr. Santosh) that my product and gift are ready for despatch (Order id [protected] / despatch id[protected] and it has 5 years insurance covered, and i need to pay the gst tax for the free promo dell laptop amounting to rs. 11999/- and that they only require the transaction number to show the government after which they would refund the gst amount back to me within half an hour or on-call itself. This contradicted the initial persons statement that no charges or shipping needs to be paid for the free gift. When i hesitated to pay the amount, he threatened me that why i don't want to pay government taxes. If it is government taxes, how come i am told it would be refunded? I am sure e-bay follows government rules and doesn't require its customers to pay tax only for transaction show status. I asked for their location and after much hesitation they gave me this address: no 246, okhla industrial estate, phase iii, new delhi, which according to google belongs to jasper infotech (Snapdeal). I asked for invoice of the amount but they said they can't issue the invoice. Finally, after going through many ordeals, i finally asked to send only the product that i purchased and paid for as i couldn't risk paying 11999/-, which they said they can't send, nor would they refund the amount.

I have trust in e-bay and their refund policies, but this transaction confuses me. Anyway, now my only concern is that i get my ordered product, and if not, i get my money refunded.
