Edureka — Request for refund and cancellation of EMI

This company is taking the name of IIT Guwahati in order to extract money out of the students and working professionals who are looking for a career change by selling their courses. I too enrolled for PG Diploma in Data Science with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and paid Rs 50000 as advance even before the commencement of the course as their salespersons used to call me too often back then saying that it was an advance fee that is refundable. Their sales guys are highly trained to befool the innocent students about placement assistance and job guarantee with their sugarcoated words that seem too promising and enticing and I initially paid Rs 1000 on my first day of talking to the sales guy as "advance for seat confirmation'' that was basically a consultation fee I should say. Just imagine paying that hefty sum as a "security fee". Then after paying that amount, a third financial agency called Zest Money that manages the finances of Edureka and all other Indian e-learning platforms asked me for my entire bank details by asking me to fill out a form that they termed as ''NACH MANDATE". They asked for all of my personal details including my name, bank account number, bank balance, Aadhar card details, pan card details, passport details, parents' details, home address, my passport size photo in that form and also asked me for some other payment along with that form but now I don't remember that amount I paid along with the form. They have saved my bank account number, CISF number, card no, and everything in their database. By believing in them blindly, I gave all my personal details by trusting that sales lady who gave me more than 20 calls that day when she asked me to give them all my personal details. Thereafter, doing all of that they delayed by a month when it came to commencement of the course. They assured me that the course would commence by March of 2020 but they instead delayed it by a month and instead commenced it from April 2020. I do not know who needs to hear this, but never for once, did they mention the refund policy when I was enquiring them about it while taking admission. Their EMI process of taking money started after the classes started. I have been generously paying their EMI every month and the money is getting deducted from my bank account and the people from Zest Money call me multiple times a day even after I make the payment saying that my transaction failed which is unbelievable. I continued with their course from April 2020 till December 2020 after which I did not want to pursue the course any further as I could not understand the course content and the instructor's change for every module as a result of which I found it difficult to cope up. I reached out to the finance team and mailed them stating that I want to discontinue the course and also asked for a refund but no response at all. After that starting from January 2021 onwards, I have been receiving multiple calls from the agents of Zest Money that threaten and blackmail me to make the payments even after I stated that I have discontinued the course and informed the team. The calls come from different agents from different cities every day of the week and also automated chatbot calls from different numbers. It's difficult for me to identify the number as well as they come from different numbers every day. From January of 2021 till End of July 2021 i.e., till today I receive calls, and one day they sent an agent to my house from their office in another city asking him to threaten me and loot the money of Rs 105013 in addition to another amount of Rs. 19473. The agent who came to my house was Mr. Jibon Jyoti Borgohain and he said that he works for Zest Money. I have already paid Rs. 88800 as EMI starting from April 2020 till December 2020 in addition to Rs 51000 in advance even before the commencement of the course. I should say that this is pure mental harassment and emotional blackmailing on the part of Edureka and Zest Money in the name of selling their cheap courses in the market when there are better international e-learning platforms like course era, udemy, edx, udacity etc that charge a nominal amount or sometimes free and refund the complete money when one wants to withdraw from the course. It's really unfair to be paying that huge sum of money for sub standard courses when there are so many better options available. I was basically brainwashed and tricked by their sales team into buying their course as they were claiming that I would be receiving the official signed certificate from IIT Guwahati and 100 percent job placement that was nothing but just a marketing gimmick from their end. I have discontinued the course from January onwards, and the few ones who completed said that the back office notified them that they won't be receiving any IIT Guwahati certificate. All in all, I have wasted Rs. 139000 that they won't be refunded at all and on top of that they are now threatening me to pay another Rs. 29986 by sending an agent to come to my house and creating a scene in front of my neighbours by threatening me and my parents. My parents work very hard to support the family and I cannot let Zest Money abuse me and my parents like that and that is completely a punishable offence by law of looting a student like that and that too after he/she has withdrawn from the course and not refeunding any amount. They are claiming the money to be a loan when in reality, I have been paying more than the actual amount for the last 9 months i.e., from April 2020 to December 2020 and my money was getting deducted from the bank account. Therefore, I strictly urge you to refund my money of Rs. 139000 as soon as possible before I resort to taking further action against Edureka and Zest Money for mental abuse through phone calls every single day and crossing the line of sending a goon in the form of an agent to my house threatening my family and me to pay them. It is more of a scam and black business in the name of education. I want Edureka to take note of my complaint at the earliest and refund my entire amount of Rs. 139000. They should not be ignoring my complaint just like that and allowing the miscreants to harass my family like that.
