Exide Life Insurance — complaint regarding unethical sales practices and deceptive tactics

Address: at 4th Floor, N4/345 IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unethical and deceptive sales practices experienced by my wife and me, senior citizens aged 75 and 70 respectively, at 4th Floor, N4/345 IRC Village, Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar in one of your promotional events.
**Incident Summary:**
1. **Initial Contact:**
- While refueling at a petrol pump, I was handed a slip with a number for a lottery draw and informed about a promotional effort. My mobile number was collected.
- I received multiple phone calls on August 8, 2024 from two women, one identifying herself as the other’s boss, informing me that I had won a prize and requesting me to visit their office with my wife to collect it. They said it will take only 10 minutes. The office was at N4-
2. **Visit to the Office:**
- Upon arrival on August 8, a woman greeted us and led us to the office, where we waited for about 15 minutes before being taken to the main office.
- We were seated by a different woman who engaged us in a homely conversation, had us introduce ourselves in detail, and write down our likes and dislikes.
3. **Insurance Promotion:**
- Subsequently, another woman introduced health insurance for senior citizens provided by your company.
- Despite our repeated refusals, she persistently insisted that we take the insurance premium for senior citizens.
- This insistence was both intrusive and disrespectful, given that we already have adequate health insurance coverage.
4. **Outcome:**
- In the end, we were handed a small, cheap gift as a token.

**Complaint:**
- **Pushy Sales Tactics:** The persistent and high-pressure sales tactics employed by your representatives were both uncomfortable and distressing. As senior citizens, we felt cornered and coerced into considering a product we explicitly stated we did not need.
- **Deceptive Practices:** The manner in which we were lured to your office under the pretense of collecting a prize was deceptive and misleading. It wasted our time and violated our trust.
- **Unethical Conduct:** The entire experience lacked transparency and respect for our autonomy as consumers. Such practices undermine the ethical standards expected from a reputable company like Exide Insurance.
**Request for Action:**
- **Investigation and Accountability:** I urge you to investigate this incident and hold the responsible individuals accountable for their actions.
- **Policy Review:** Please review and revise your promotional and sales practices to ensure they are ethical and respectful, particularly towards senior citizens.
- **Apology:** A formal apology for the distress caused would be appreciated.
I hope Exide Insurance will take this complaint seriously and implement necessary changes to prevent such incidents in the future. We trust that your company values ethical standards and will prioritize the best interests of its clients, especially vulnerable groups like senior citizens.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
