Ford — Engine Fuel Injector Failure

Address:Udupi, Karnataka, 576101
Website:www.india.ford.com

I have purchased Ford Figo in Cauvery Ford Showroom, Mangalore (Karnataka, India.)as on June12th 2012. I was very satisfied with Ford Figo, by its Performance & Reputation among all other Hatchback Class vehicles in India. I was using Ford Figo regularly & haven’t noticed any major issues except Flat Tire Replacement, Sound Horn Repair etc. Couple of days back, I have noticed a Malfunction Notification (Yellow color), which was appeared while driving. Suddenly I have stopped the vehicle & called Ford Service Center & they have suggested me to take the vehicle to Ford Service Center with immediate effect. After reaching there, the technician described me that Engine Fuel Injectors (2 Nos.) are not functioning & shall be replaced with the new & costs near about 40, 000Rs. I never expected this type of serious problem within 15 Months Duration / 46, 000Kms Usage. Officially I have registered a complaint with Ford. Perhaps after calling several times, I was not able to get any proper reply from Ford Customer Care & very upset with their customer dealings. Hence in order to find a solution for this issue, I was obliged to write a mail to you about the captioned subject. It is very unusual that Fuel Injectors Failure happened so early (15 Months / 46, 000Kms.) with World’s Most Reputed Automobile Company - Ford. I am very upset with Ford & not ready to bear 40, 000Rs cost for this unacceptable reason. I am expecting your favorable reply with immediate effect, or else I will publish this issue in Internet & recommend not to buy any Ford Vehicles. Also I will definitely register a Complaint in CONSUMER COURT, if you don’t respond professionally & beneficially to me. Kindly find the Details Below:- Ford Customer care complaint No:[protected] Vehicle Name: Ford Figo Place of Purchase: Cauvery Ford, Mangalore. Do not go with ford cars I also had the same problem yesterday, while I driving suddenly the car had very bad missing in the engine when I was overtaking a bus thank God, and the engine felt very shaking I was not able to move and I called to Road side assistance they told to pay 2950 rs online to get my car to the service center, the service people checked and told me to change 1 and 2nd injector the cost is around 36500 and additionally he bought 1000rs from me with our bill I asked the reason he said I filled fuel for 1k but I didn't see that much fuel in my tank, my car ran 58k kilometers. Worst quality car ford, yesterday I went to indus motors and asked the people to exchange my ford figo they said they can give 1.5 lakes, I shocked and asked why they said so many things about the Ford cars, now air planned to go with swift dezire low petrol 6.32 lakes.

Issue got resolved ?
yes me to suffering same problem the company is saying that repairing of injectors is not a successful idea rather than replacement .one injector costs rs 19000.i don't know how to afford this type of cost.
Absolutely yes.., we do have same complaint. Our Fod Figo vehocle has just ran for 44000 with single owner, we observed a kind o[censored]npleasant sound from engine last year, for this complaint the Cauvery Ford show room simply suggested to replace one injector without any diagnosation, again today we got indication about engine problem, when we again approached Cauvery Ford at Shimoga, they suggested to replace another 2 injectors.

This shows that, the Cuavery Ford lacks expertise to repair the injectors and to satisfy customers.

When this vehicle was serviced few months back, they never indicated any flaw with engine / injector .

It becomes costly to bear such costs because we own this Ford Figo car.

Hence, my suggestion goes not to recommend this vehicle for other customer.

Rest i will continue later...

With this feedback, am requesting Ford Technical team to analyze the issue & give suitable solution to me, else i will file a complaint at consumer court seeking suitable compensation for incurring such losses due to premature / frequent failure of accessories in Ford Car.

Anticipating Quick response from Ford.

We have purchased Ford Figo in Metro Ford Showroom, Bangalore (Karnataka, India.) during April '2011 . We were very satisfied with Ford Figo, by its Performance & Reputation among all other Hatchback Class vehicles in India. We were using Ford Figo regularly & haven’t noticed any major issues . Last week We have noticed a Malfunction Notification (Yellow color), which was appeared while driving. Suddenly We have stopped the vehicle & called Ford Service Center - Cauvery Ford, Shimoga ( now the car is in Shimoga from past 3 years ) & they have suggested me to take the vehicle to Ford Service Center with immediate effect. After reaching there, the technician described me that Engine Fuel Injectors (2 Nos.) are not functioning & shall be replaced with the new & costs near about Rs. 34000.00 . We never expected this type of serious problem within 5 years of duration / 47000 Kms Usage. As the vehicle was urgently required by us for day to day usage, we agreed at that time to replace the injectors without any other way. After that i further enquired with service incharge about the reason for this premature failure and he quoted " quality of fuel is the reason " . We strongly dis-agree with this evading & vague answer and now i am demanding the Cauvery Ford to re-imburse the cost of injectors and to replace another 2 injectors also by suspecting the poor quality of injectors.

Officially We have registered a complaint with Ford. And in order to find a solution for this issue, we are preparing to file a case in consumer court, if the ford dealer fails to meet my demand. It is very unusual that Fuel Injectors Failure happened so early ( 47, 000Kms.) with World’s Most Reputed Automobile Company - Ford. We are very upset with Ford & not ready to bear such heavy cost for this unacceptable reason. We are expecting your favorable reply with immediate effect .We will also register a Complaint in CONSUMER COURT, if Ford don’t respond professionally & beneficially to me. Hi

I am also facing the same problem. I would like to know what was the response from Ford and please advice as to what has to be done.

Thanks
Kindly tell Figo fuel injector failour after in how many assuming km. & Diesel duratora tdci engine is good for another engine
We are facing same problem. Injector failed at 32000 KM. Did anyone get any response from Ford?
Facing same problem after driving 90, 000kms. Reason quoted 'bad quality of fuel(diesel)'. Problem re-appeared after repairing the injectors. Repair cost 20, 000. Replacement cost 20, 000 per each.
Same issue here for me in Bangalore. Total Run 35K kms. Model Aug 2012 Figo EXI TDCI. Issue since day 1. Serviced at Cauvery Ford for 3 years with many revisits. Every visit has Engine rough noise complained. Technicians confirmed it is inherent problem in all Figo. After frustration, chenged service station to Metro ford yashwantpur for same issue. They promised during 4th scheduled service they will help to fix. Went as per them, Metro ford technician told issue with 2 injectors that need ONLY replacement and can not be repaired. Estimated rupees 44K. Then, I revealed I have 4th year extended warranty. He was shocked and agreed to fix under warranty and referred to Hesaraghatta branch in Jun 2016. But, Ford India only repaired one injector stating under warranty they can only support this much and invoice was only 7K rupees. Issues started recurring again in 15 days. Had multiple visits to metro ford. Again, as usual technician argued its inherent issue with Figo of this make and model in 2010 and 2012 (before uplifted model in year end of 2012). He showed me few vehicles of same model and year. Also mentioned, customers are sort used to it. No option but left the garage. After few days, wanted second opinion from Metro ford St Marks road. He also told it seems to be an issue but he cant help but I needed to go to same branch again for it. Frustrated. Period. In recent days I again started checking fuel efficiency, shacked to see 11km average. Again frustrated. This time raised issue to Ford India via twitter. They took a note and arranged service checkup. Now vehicle is with them since 10 days. Some Ford people called me and said it needs replacement of 3 injectors (2, 3, 4). 4th was same which was service under warranty. After lots of argument, where I was mentioning it is defective piece since beginning and should be recalled at 100% support. They were telling that they can support 25% discount and I need to pay 45K again. Ford is looter company and very annoyed that they did not do proper testing before rolling out figo. Seems to inherent issue since Ikon era. Worst part was Mr. Zakir, who called me was so arrogant and was not even listening to issues. He was adamant saying many are living with it and I also need to live with faulty injectors and change it at my cost as vehicle is 5 year old and 35K kms run. Failing injector at 35K kms is shows very bad design. Mr. Zakir has closed the concern without taking my agreement. That again shows arrragance of Ford India. They simpley dont care us. I pledge everyone to not to buy Ford products. Please dont go by their colourful ads with film actors. They have bad designs in the engines.
REPLY from FORD. WORST REPLY.

Dear Mr. Anand,

This is subsequent to our telephonic conversation on 31.8.2017 regarding your vehicle bearing the VIN MAJ1XXMRJ1CD10864.

We wish to reiterate that the said car is approximately 5 yrs old, and having clocked approximately 335 K km - An automobile is an amalgamation of thousands of parts. The life of these components is variable according to the pattern o[censored]sage, road conditions and maintenance.

Going through our service records, we also observed that the vehicle was reported on 24 Aug 2017 for Engine Noise. On diagnosis, our dealership found issue with 3 fuel injectors and had already informed you about the replacement of the same and shared the estimate with you approx. 45K.
In addition, the previous repairs carried out on your car were performed as per the requirement and could not be related to any service deficiency on the part of the dealership.
Having said that, we deeply value our relationship with you and your patronage for the Ford brand. As part of our commitment, we would like to extend our support to you on 1 injector as a gesture of goodwill.
As the next step, we would request you to contact Ms. Renuka – DCRC [protected]@[protected]and provide your approval so that they can proceed with the necessary replacement.

We have also instructed the dealership to provide necessary assistance to you in this regard.
Please feel free to contact us in case there’s anything else we can assist you with.
Assuring you the best of our services and continuous support at all times.

MY REPLY TO FORD.

Dear Mr. Zakir/Nithin and FORD INDIA,

I hope you remember number of calls that we have had and how many times, I repeated the issue details to your team.
Despite those discussions, Ford still doesn't honour the problem statement. It is unacceptable and unethical.

Though my car is 5 year old and clocked 35K Kms, Engine Issue was there since very first service. Every time, I have logged Engine roughness and noise issue with your service centres. You also have understood the complaint in each visit to service centres and you have the service centre records.

For the sake of documenting the issue and BACKGROUND again::-
I have Ford Figo EXI TDCI Model Aug 2012. Engine roughness and noise exists since the day I bought the car. I was advised that it is normal in all Ford vehicles, be it Fiesta or Figo. Regularly Serviced (until 3rd scheduled service) at Cauvery Ford for 3 years with many revisits on the same issue. Every visit has Engine rough noise complained. Every Technicians confirmed it is inherent problem or feature in all Figo's. Fords have real issue with Injectors thats why they sound very rough like Tractor Engines.

After frustration, I changed service station to Metro Ford Yashwantpur for the same issue. They promised during 4th scheduled service they will help to fix. I went as per them, Metro ford technician told that issue with 2 injectors that need ONLY REPLACEMENT and repair can't be done. He estimated the cost of the replacement as INR 44K. Then, I told him that I have 4th year extended warranty. He was shocked, little embarrassed and agreed to fix under warranty. He then referred the car to Hesaraghatta branch in June 2016. Metro Ford told me over phone that they sent both injectors for warranty replacement. But, Ford India Chennai only repaired one injector stating under warranty they can only support this much and invoice was only aroung INR 7K.

My question to Ford - > Why only one injector was repaired when there were 2 faulty?
If no warranty, you force for replacement at the cost of customers. Under warranty you only repaired one. How is it justified?
Were you trying to fleece me?
Did Ford find a unique way to earn some extra money even if Ford has faulty designs to fail at birth or mere few thousand kilometres?
Are Ford Service ethics forgotten here?
Your advertises with celebrities are just to fool customers?

Coming back to issues, Same Engine noise problem started recurring again in 15 days, in fact raised to all time high. I had multiple visits to metro ford and spoke to technician. Again, as usual technician argued its inherent issue with Figo of this make and model in 2010 and 2012 (before uplifted model in year end of 2012). It is same confirmation as given by Cauvery Ford. He showed me few vehicles of same model and year, every car had engine issue. Also I was forced to convince that customers are sort used to it. No option but left the garage.

After few days, I badly wanted a second opinion from Metro Ford St Marks road (remember same franchisee different branch). He also told me, it seems to be an issue with injectors but he cant help. Suggested me that I needed to go to same branch again for it. Frustrated. Period. In recent days, I started checking fuel efficiency, shocked to see 11km average. Engine noise continues and increases. This time raised issue to Ford India via twitter. Ford took a note (unfortunately zakir, nithin and some BD are managing twitter handle) and arranged service checkup and picked up by Metro ford. Now vehicle is with ford since 23rd Aug 2017. Ford people called me and said it needs replacement of 3 injectors (2, 3, 4). That is SHOCKING to hear that 3 injectors now went kaput. 4th injector was same one which was serviced under warranty in June 2016.

As discussed with Zakir and Nithin, where I was mentioning it is defective piece since beginning and should be recalled at 100% support. These are the faulty designs failing with no reasons. There is no reliability and durability of the parts under question.

Why are you forcing me to accept only 25% support?
It is 100% RECALLABLE faulty parts.

You should show some GOODWILL of at least repairing all the 3 bad injectors. Why are you forcing me to live with faulty injectors? Think from customer perspective where he puts lot of hard earned money and ford tries to fleece it with faulty designs.

FINALLY:

I will give you below options as a GOODWILL gesture from my end to FORD INDIA. I have better ethics than FORD INDIA and I am bit flexible as a human and respect customer relationships.

1. Replace all injectors at 100% cost. I may bear labour cost upto INR 5K
2. Replair all Injectors at 100% cost including the the labour cost.

Please discuss this with your higher authorities who can REALLY take care of customers problems and address them with honesty and respect.

Thanks,

Anand Munnolli

Exactly point to point ditto my issue also. From the very first service i have been telling them that i am getting lot of noise from engine but every time they said it's common in all Figo. Now within 24k kms fuel injectors are gone. WTF is this??? This is really so bad. Ford has a good name but this Figo is ruining their Good will. " A Business which makes nothing but money is a poor business" quoted by the great Henry Ford the founder of Ford Motors. And look at this Figo.. is it carrying that bench mark?? End of day customers like us are suffering..

Hello Guys, I thought it's just only my figo tdci has this unique problem of fuel injectors, but now I realized its not a local issue but global. Well my Figo is 2012 model and ran only 24000 kms. One day while I was coming back from office all of sudden i got engine check light (exclamation mark inside the gear wheel) started flashing and vehicle speed became drastically slow n sluggish. I was wondering what happen to my car and then i called Mody Ford service people and informed the issue.. then they inspected my car for 3 days and said the same thing that fuel injectors are gone and need to be replaced and the price they quoted was 65000/- I was totally shocked to the core..

I took the Figo 2012 Titanium TDCi on this Aug 2017 as a used car from a genuine person. The car was promptly maintained and clocked only 40500kms. n my first drive to home it showed the warning lamp and started to show the missing while accelerating. I taken the car to the nearest ford service and the technician told I have to change the injector immediately. And the cost was 20k. When I asked the reason the technician told me that the vehicle from 2012 is coming with BS4 emission norms and the fuel we are getting is not updated to BS4. So the injector is not getting the life. Also he told me that the figo before 2012 is not having this issue. And advised me to fill the fuel from HP or Reliance pump only.

My name is Soma Reddy and I faced the same issue with my Ford Fiesta TDCi 2011 model. When the odo was about 28, 000 KM in 2016 the car jerked and the engine check lamp started glowing in Shiradi Ghat near Sakaleshpur. The car was taken to Cauvery Ford Binny Mill road and two injectors were replaced (1 AND 2) and the cost was around 50, 000 Rs. Now in December 2017 I observed rough engine noise, body shake, uneven idling and jerking and took the car to Cauvery Ford Binny Mill road again. This time I was told injectors 3 and 4 are faulty and need to be replaced and also the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation..) needs to be replaced which will cost around 22, 000 Rs.

I fail to understand what type of engines Ford manufactures where the parts give up frequently. Also these parts cost a bomb to the customers, each replacement of these critical parts is some where around 20, 000 Rs. I feel the customers are being cheated.
Feels like the service engineers are trained to convince the customers that the figo model is like this only and we a have to get used with the "Noise" . Majority of the complaints here point finger to 2012 make and I am joining the same group.Better we have bought a tractor instead which atleast has a good ground clearance.
In m case it is also 5 year old and 60K kms. Yesterday they convinced me that there will be some reduction in noise if some belts and pulleys will be replaced. But it only reduced my bank ballance. Today again I visited them and the service Engineer started convincing me with the first sentence"Figo models are like that". either you have to repair the injectors which has to be sent to North India and each piece will cost around 9000.
Or to replace with new 4 sets which cost around 17k each.

To prove that it is common to all figo, he shown me 2 or 3 vehicles with the same issue. I wonder what is the point?
I do have the same problem. Even in my Case the Ford service centre had informed that 2 injectors and some plate is damaged and had demanded 100, 000 INR for repair. I bought my ford Figo in 2013 and its driven only 49K . I took my car for repair of Steering Pulleys at Harpreet Ford, service centre. During the inspection of the Vehicle the service engineer told me that the Car engine is missing . I did not understand the actual problem but he told me that it had to do with the Engine. He suggested to do the compression testing to Check if the problem is with the Engine or Fuel Injectors. After compression test dealership confirmed that the engine is faulty and need to open the engine to check the problem. And then the horror came. I was informed that the Ford had not accepted to take the charges for engine repair and had blamed me for the damage. They said the Diesel used is of Bad quality. I had 1 more car running on Diesel, One year older than this car and is driven in totality 95 K but no such problem with that car so far. Interestingly I use the same Gas Station for Diesel filling in both Cars. All the complaints above and referance i had for my own, It seems Ford had a very bad Quality Assurance plan and bad Quality check system. Also from the year of purchase of all the Cars it seems the engine Manufactured during that time were Defective, more of Latent Defect in them.
The technician advised to replace injector of my Ford Figo car. It has run 14000 KM. I have done all servicing on time. Surprised how can Ford claim if you do servicing on time you will never face any problem. The injector replacement will cost me Rs. 19000 /-.
Dear Friends,
I was going through your posts just now. My figo diesel EXI 2010 model completed 1, 03700 KMs after a long service of 7 years. Whatever complaints you have mentioned happened to me also.
I was experiencing the problem of injector failure from the 3rd month of purchase. Every time they will do some service which will not be explained to me and get it rectified. But always my car was under power and I am not aware of that until I have checked one my colleagues car. I will drive maximum at 90 KM/Hr and in Kerala that also possible in highways expecially from thrissur to cherthala route.

Coming to the fact please note the below points :
1. If injector complaint is a fuel issues(agreeing that we are not getting good quality fuels from all pumps) why other manufacturer diesel cars dont have the issue?
2. The old fogi using injectors from CONTINENTAL company which have the issue.
3. This is a clear manufacturing fault of ford car.
4. New Gen dont have this problem(I heard so dont experienced) bcoz they have changed the OEM brand to BOSCH ( Info from ford A.S.S)
5. My car had severe injector problem 7 months back and taken the same to nearby local service centre. He is well experienced with this issue and told me this problem is only for ford cars. He got it serviced from DIESEL WORK SHOP and costs me around 13K for 4 injectors. Was running good for one month but some missing was felt after that. Then again taken to the diesel work shop . They have suggested to replace washers and done it for 4000 rupees.(1000 x 4) then also cleaned the EGR system which was completely under dust.

6. Justification from ford person So called ZAKIR is the classic example of not supporting the customers. Let the buyer suffer behavior.
you dont believe the car is now with super power which I never experienced in the whole 7 years.
The A.S.S guys have target and they will suggest replacing only for these kind of services. If we approach good local work shops we will get it serviced at good price.
BUT MOST OF CASES WE ARE NOT AWARE OF OUR POWER. SAY NO TO SUCH COMPANIES AND PRODUCTS IN ALL FIELDS FROM GROCERY TO AUTOMOBILES WHATEVER IT MAY BE. THE PROBLEM WE DONT HAVE A UNION OR ASSOCIATION. JUST THINK WHEN WE ARE BUYING GOOD FROM BIG SHOPS AND PAYING 2-10 RUPEES FOR CARRY BAGS THEY ARE GIVING THEIR ADVERTISEMENT PRINTED CARRY BAGS. WHY WE SHOULD CARRY THEIR AD WHEN WE ARE PAYING FOR IT ?? EVERY WHERE WE ARE GETTING UTILIZED.

Say NO to FORD . I am planning to change my car bcoz if anything went wrong again I dont know how much it will cost me. Being an upgrade in mind planning for BREZZA or NEXON.

Try any good local work shop with proper DIESEL WORK SHOP ( This will be the words they will wrote on board of shop). They have engine scan system and all in place.

Thanks
Sunil
