Hathway sending legal notice for properly closed prepaid broadband connection:

Hi,

I used hathway internet 3 years back which is a prepaid connection. I requested to disconnect the service while i was shifting my house in aug 2016. However no response from hathway. So i requested to close the connection and they said ok. However i keep on receiving bills every month over email with a different account number on my name. I raised a support case over email to pune nodal and there was no reponse from them. Finally i got a message as below today:

Legal notice has been sent to user xxxxxxxxx for hathway broadband a/c no.[protected] plz pay immediately rs.10000.0 to avoid further legal action. For any query cont legal team [protected], [protected]

Why should i pay the amount if i had not used the service at all. I complained to stop commection and it was the failure of hathway support to stop connection irrespective of multiple reminders to stop connection and hathway send the legal notice to me now?. I had proofs of all emails in my mail box which i had requested to stop the connection. I am not ready to pay amount as i had not used the service. Moreover my connection was prepaid.

Updated by amoldeshmukh2006 No one contacted me as mentioned above.
I went to Hatway office in April-2019 and the the person there (Salim) helped me out on the topic.
He told me my account was not closed till that time. How this was possible if I have already submitted the router and payments made 3 years ago. This indicate how pathetic server they provide to every customer.
At the end the that person closed my account in their system and told me that I will not get any calls/sms again.
As of now July-2019, I have not received any calls as such so I can say they have done the closure of my account after 4+ years.

But I am receiving their recharge SMS on Daily basis...this is ridiculous now.
