To,
The Consumer Complaints Forum,
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Hathway Broadband regarding the unjust charging of ₹40 as a device charge on every recharge after one year of service, despite their policy clearly stating that the router/modem is free to use on an active recharge.
I have been attempting to resolve this issue for the past two years by contacting Hathway customer support multiple times. However, I have been redirected between different support numbers and have not received a satisfactory resolution. The billing customer executive insists that this charge applies if the connection is older than one year, contradicting Hathway's policy of free installation and free device use.
Additionally, I visited the Hathway customer care office and inquired about using my own router to avoid these charges. I was informed that their internet service would not work on any router except theirs, which seems unreasonable and restrictive.
I have been charged ₹40 on 9-10 occasions, amounting to a total of approximately ₹360-₹400 (tax amount is also charged on top of this but excluded in this because I'm not sure how much extra tax I payed), which is a substantial unfair expense. I request a refund of these charges and demand that Hathway Broadband discontinues this unjust device charge.
Please address this issue promptly to prevent further inconvenience to other consumers.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
