[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — Blackmail and threat from HDFC agent Kapil Sharma and Regional Manager Asha Sharma

Hello, I got my car loan from HDFC about 10 days ago. Two days prior to the day when I was supposed to get my car, agent who got the paper work done(Agent's name: Kapil Sharma) asked for INR 7000 as bribe which he never talked about before the loan was done. I told him there was no problem with any of my documents and eligibility. Also, I never even requested or pleaded to get the loan approved anyhow. I already had my pre-approved loan from ICICI but I did not go for that because they were restricting me to get the car registered within NCR whereas I wanted to register my car in Uttarakhand. Anyway, when I refused to pay INR 7000 to the agent he threatened to cancel my loan and disconnected my call. Immediately after that I called HDFC customer services and complained about the same. Customer service rep assured me that loan will not be cancelled and they will take appropriate action in regards to this inconvenience (Complaint numbers : DELR[protected], DELR[protected]). They also gave me the phone number for Regional Manager (Asha Sharma) to log my complaint. I called Ms. Asha Sharma right away. As soon as I started the conversation, she said she'll call back within 5 minutes but she did not. I called her back again after 40 minutes. She did not pick up and after that I called many times; she never picked up or called me back. Next day she called to address the complaint that I registered with customer services. I told her about the issue and said that I will call back after 10 minutes to give more details as I was having lunch in my office cafeteria. She asked me for the phone number for the agent (Kapil Sharma), I gave it to her. Then I called her after 10 minutes multiple times, she never picked up. Next day, when I was on my way to get my car, Sales agent from Volkswagen Showroom with whom I was dealing called me and said Regional Manager, Asha Sharma from HDFC called him up on his personal mobile phone and asked not to deliver the car. I believe she got his phone number from the same HDFC agent, Kapil Sharma as he and salesperson from Volkswagen are relatives and in the very beginning, Kapil Sharma had called my for this loan through his reference only. I called Ms Asha Sharma right then asked her why she is asking not to deliver the car. She said that she got to know from somewhere that I had cancelled the cheques that I gave with my papers while applying for the loan. I told her I had not cancelled any cheques and she should have verified it first with me and with ICICI bank before asking to stop the car delivery. She asked whether it would be fine if I could take my car next day. I said no and asked her to do all verifications within two hours as I was already on my way to the Car dealer. She never called after that and I got my car. Right before this blog I called HDFC Grievance Redressal Officer on[protected] but no one answered. Summary: Agent, Kapil Sharma asked for money after loan was approved, When denied, he blackmailed and threatened me of cancelling my loan when I had planned everything. Regional Manager, Asha Sharma, instead of helping me caused more problems and I firmly believe she was an accomplice or partner in this whole blackmailing and mental harassment. Funny enough, right in the middle of writing this complaint, I got a call from Ms, Asha Sharma now after four days to congratulate me and give me some loan details. When I told her that i was writing a complaint against her, she tried to justify what she did with some arguments that made no sense to me at all. In the end I said "you and that agent should not confuse politeness and respectful behaviour with weakness. I will follow up on this till the culprits get what they deserve." I am highly dissatisfied. This whole episode caused me a lot of mental stress. Regards, Vaibhav Sharma
