[Resolved] HDFC Bank — false promise of life time free credit card

Hdfc representative offered me a life time free credit card while opening my salary account, this life time free offer was re verified by me during confirmation call i received from bank before sending card to me. Every bank representative replied yes it is a life time free card, but now after 5 month have been charged a usage bill for the card. Now when i called customer care they said card is chargeable and they can do anything about it.
It is very difficult to track bank representative who offered the same there were multiple people involved.
This kind of cheating will lead to mistrust on bank and bank brand value will also degrade. I strongly condemn such false promises just to sell credit card. Even i am thinking to shift (Close) my savings (Salary) account along with card closer.
Customer care has also logged my complaint with [protected] this number.
I know nothings gonna happen bank people will reply with some justification saying that is chargeable for the benefits you get and let us know the person who did false promise, and i suppose to do cid job for them leaving my work aside.

HDFC Bank Customer Care's response Dear Customer,

As per our records, your card ending has been issued to you as a priced card. Hence the membership fee as applicable has been billed to your card account. We wish to confirm that your card would have been converted to First-year free card if you have spent Rs.20000.00 within 120 days of card issuance. However, we note that you have not met the said threshold. Hence, the membership fee as applicable has been levied. However, the renewal fee will be auto reversed when your card usage spend during the previous 12 months period exceeds Rs. 50, 000.00. We request you to use your credit card for the aforesaid spend limit to get the renewal fee waiver on future renewals.
