HDFC Bank — hdfc life policy - fraud

If you want to avoid being defrauded, if you care about hard-earned money - avoid hdfc life policy, at any cost.

I was working with an ngo and somehow saved some money to buy an hdfc pro-growth plus policy. One day an hdfc customer care representative called me to tell me that i have not put money in good funds and hence the policy is performing very bad. They also said that they can send someone to help me understand how to put money into which fund. I called back to confirm that the number was hdfc customer care number only, so i asked them to send someone.

Then an agent came (Which obviously was hdfc certified agent). He told me that he can tell me how to transfer money to a different fund, but for that, there is a rule - the fund switch can happen only when i take another hdfc life policy worth at least 80k per year.

I was surprised about this rule. I called up the customer care for hdfc life policy, they confirmed that yes, this is the rule. I had no other option but to take that policy worth 85k per year (Remember i was working in an ngo with such small salary) - but i had to save my already invested money, so i had to do this.

Later, after a few months, a friend of mine who worked in hdfc told me that this is not the rule. I raised a complaint and did the following for 3 months
1. Sent at least 100 emails to different people asking to help
2. Went to hdfc life office, submitted a written complaint
3. Spoke to 100+ people - customer care people

In the end, the response i got was - hdfc life can't do anything. Basically, they said that now that we have taken the money from you (Fraudulently), they are not interested in giving it back.

Like a middle-class person, i gave up, let my money go, because of no other option. And funnily enough, i still get calls to pay the policy premium for the policy which cost me so much money.

This was my horrible experience with the bank, so please do not ever do this to yourself.
