[Resolved]  HDFC Bank — online dd hdfc bank - poor service

I have my account with gurgaon sector 57 branch and had placed a request for a dd (Through internet banking) on the 27th of october 2107 (Friday). The amount was debitted immediately and said i will be processed next working day and will be delivered to given address within 3-4 working days.

The amount getting debitted on friday itself, made me think the dd was printed on the same day and due for dispatch friday evening or the next working day morning (Monday). Since the payment was going to third party i needed a reference no for dd issued so i can inform my payee about the dd and provide the courier tracking no so i called the bank asking them to inform me about the dd and courier details but customer care support team was not been help and suggested that i should visit the nearest branch for same information and when i went to branch to get the details even they did not had any information. On 31st again i called customer support as its been already 3 business days for the request as i still did not got any message from bank and over the call this time customer care associate told me that it is generally getting issued within 5 business days and can take upto 5 more days to inform me the status.

When i asked them to cancel the request since dd is not even issued after 2 business days and payment was getting delayed they said i now can't even cancel the request once place and i felt like i was trapped in it and have no choice to just wait for their irresponsible handling of online request. They are saying you can place request but can't modify or stop the request even its your money and i will be paying the cancellation fees and to do so also first they will issue the dd and it will delivered to third party and i need to request my third party to send the dd back to me and after that i can cancel that dd.

This online service is not worth and when you ask the branch to issue check against dd they were refusing it saying that option tool is down so they don't have to work realtime and somehow forcing the customer to opt for online thing which is just a trap where website say dd will be issued next working day but in reality its taking more than 3-4 days and irony is that you can't even cancel the request.

My worries...
1) if the dd is printed not printed till now, why was the amount debitted immediately on 27th.
2) as per process, the dd number should be part of the min-statement, as and when the amount is debitted/ dd printed. But, they ref number remains all 0s (For their comfort).
3) since they say max 4 days, they will despatch the courier only on the fourth day and they wont be questioned for a further delay.
4) in some of the leading banks (Like citibank, icici), when a query is posted thorugh netbanking, it reaches the branch manager, who responds to the query and take actions. This makes us get the specific details. But with hdfc bank, it goes to the customercare center, who can access the details, as you see in your netbanking account screen, but wont know the specifics, as in this case, if a dd is printed or nor and also if it is despatched or not and if despatched, the details of the courier.

I guess, it is all the more safe to "not to book dd" online from hdfc or through phonebanking for that matter and better to pay cash to other bank just to get dd made on same day and you yourself can dispatch it wherever you want and it will be delivered in 2 business days in cities like mumbai or delhi (Metro cities).

This service of hdfc bank of online dd thing is highly not recommended by me as i'm going through a lot of hazels and pain just to get the dd details for which they had already deducted the amount which i believe should not been deducted until dd is printed and bank is not able to provide the dd reference no.
