ICICI Bank — Surcharge on ICICI debit card used at Petrol pump

I have been charged Rs. 57.xx as surcharge on purchase of petrol worth Rs.2000 at HP petrol pump using my ICICI debit card. When I called ICICI customer service, I was told that the merchant had asked them to charge it. This is ridculous. When I asked the petrol pump if they charge they surcharge, they said no but they cannot help if bank charges a surcharge.

If the govt./bank wants customers to use e-payments, this surcharge is a dampener.

Please reverse this surcharge asap and make sure it is not charged in the future.
