Oct 9, 2020 Complaint marked as Resolved The appliance was lying as garbage in my house and I could not dispose it. So, I had to compromise and pay prices for printed circuit board, touchpad membrane and service fees to IFB. Hope the new parts are reliable and the appliance can be used safely.

Sep 25, 2019 Updated by Sujataarghya I purchased the microwave oven last year and used it around 15 times during one year period. One day, when I tried to cook in it, no panel light glew. I just missed the one year warranty period because of delay in informing IFB. I lodged my complaint in their website. Their service franchisee representative came to my house without any information about service charges for visit. Later I wrote to IFB again requesting for free repair since I have hardly used it and just one year had passed. They replied with a promise to look into the matter. After two days again their authorised service company's technician came with a Chinese circuit board. But after replacing, he asked me the price of the PCB plus service charges. I refused to pay Rs 2000/- for the substandard Chinese circuit board. The microwave is at present lying unused. I really did not know that IFB is manufacturing the appliances in China these with substandard quality materials and workmanship. I have made a mistake.

After checking he asked for fees for the visit and informed that the whole PCB to be replaced and the cost of replacement would be Rs 2000/- plus service charges. I wrote to IFB again requesting for free repair since I have hardly used it and just one year had passed. They replied with a promise to look into the matter. After two days again their authorised service company's technician came with a Chinese circuit board. But after replacing, he asked me the price of the PCB plus service charges. I refused to pay Rs 2000/- for the substandard Chinese circuit board. The microwave is at present lying unused. I really did not know that IFB is manufacturing the appliances in China these days with substandard quality materials and poor workmanship and without any quality assurance system. I have made a mistake by buying the IFB product and feel cheated.

Do you really want to help? Or will call us to inform that your technician will visit with a 'Made in China' PCB?
I thought I was buying a reliable brand's reliable product. Instead, the product delivered to me stopped working after 15 cycles. Now I am worried about the safety of my family. I'll rather absorb the loss of Rs 10000/- that I paid to buy it if I am not assured that genuine, new and passed through quality checks PCB will be supplied. If you are the competent authority of IFB to assure me, you can contact me.

IFB's Kolkata office had contacted me on 3rd October 2019 and noted the details of my grievance, my concern and my request for free repair. The person had promised me that they would discuss internally within IFB this special case and my request for free of cost and revert. After that I have not received any communication nor any estimation cost.

Sep 26, 2020 Updated by Sujataarghya Same status. IFB did not respond. Today I discovered that IFB has cheated me every way possible. The PCB's original date of manufacture is 2015.11.09, but a paper sticker is pasted on the PCB and it shows the date as 2018.06.09. So greedy has these companies become!

Oct 07, 2020 Updated by Sujataarghya As per discussion with Mr. Chayan Gupta of IFB, Kolkata and prices of the new PCB and touch pad plus service fee (Rs 1930/- + Rs 222/- + Rs 354/-) informed by him and as advised by him, I had raised for repair service request on 01 October 2020. Acknowledgement mail received but no further response received from them. I am waiting.

Oct 08, 2020 Updated by Sujataarghya The service technician came this afternoon and replaced the PC board and the touchpad. Rs 2511/- paid in cash. The microwave oven is heating now.
Sad part is that the technician's finger got cut in the burr of the sheet metal frame of the appliance. I could help him only by giving soap, Savlon, cotton wool and tied a bandage to stop the bleeding. Hope he has taken medicine and better now.
