Indraprastha Gas Limited [IGL] — Additional Security Deposit Charges in Bill

In my current monthly bill, Additional Consumption Security Deposit charges are added of Rs.1000/-. When I called the IGL center, they said that you need to pay this amount as an extra security deposit because your last year monthly average bill is more than Rs.1500/-.

I have paid all the bills generated by IGL on time since the inception of the connection and I have also deposited Rs.6000 as a security deposit at the time of connection.

Still, IGL is saying that this additional consumption security deposit is needed to pay.

This is absolutely on the free will of IGL company to charge any amount in any bill without having a proper reason. It's been more than 3 years, I have been using the IGL connection and now suddenly these charges are imposed on me.

The worst part is that for this consumption security deposit they are also not paying any interest.

BSES pays interest on the security deposit. Why not IGL.
Levy of this Consumption Security Deposit is devoid of any rationale whatsoever.It appears only a means to raise working capital without any liability.
Is there any means for not paying it
I have also faced the same issue. This is the problem faced by most of the joint families wherein the gas consumption is on the higher side. They want to break the joint families into nuclear ones. No one listens. They don't even pay interest. Its pure loot. Gautam Arora.
I have also faced the same issue. The government should have to take immediate action against this. These kinds of policies dis-balancing the consumer budget and also we are not getting any interest on these security deposits. The company is making their wealth by losing the consumer pocket.
As per IGL customer care IGL has calculated the average monthly bill for the period 02.09.2020 to 01.01.2022
as follows:
Total gas consumed = X scm (can be verified from actual bills)
Total No. of days = 487 Days
Per Day Consumption = X/487
Consumption for 60 days (billing period) = ₹ (X/487 x 60 x 35.61)
The Price of gas IGL used here is ₹35.61/scm which is applicable from 12.1.2022 and not applicable for the said period. This gives an average monthly bill much higher than the average of the actual bills generated by IGL for the said period. This is unfair and all consumers must complain to IGL customer care.
This is second time they have imposed the additional SD. The only reason they give ' above the average consumption value ' calculated by IGL, that consumption doesn't have any meter load problem. They just impose the additional SD and earn the interest from that.

Still, IGL is saying that this additional consumption security deposit is needed to pay. when we are paying security deposits and taxes so why you charge unnecessary charges when we paying accorning to meter reading these are private conpamines do any without any fear of consumer rights

i am also got same This is pure harassments & another way to extort money from users.
