[Resolved]  MakeMyTrip India — Cashback FLYMON not considered even though entered in the booking

I am surprised by the immaturity in terms of reply i received from MMT cservice regarding my issue. They do not even look into the issue properly and respond with standard terms and conditions of the coupon which are so ambiguos and generic. Here is the issue.

I booked a ticket (NF[protected] using the code FLYMON. I did enter the code as per the coupon conditions. I paid 500 rs through wallet and remaining 9804rs using my ICICI debit card. After the booking was success, i saw that there was no mention about the coupon code cashback in the invoice. Thus i raised a ticket to the MMT cservice team to confirm the FLYMON cashback of 1500 rs. The standard answer i received as "Dear Mr. XXXX, Thank you for contacting MakeMyTrip Customer Support with regard to your eligibility for cashback of INR 1500.00 under promotion FLYMON. We checked our records and we confirm that your booking is not eligible for cashback since you made the payment through MY Wallet. "

Such an answer really drives a consumer crazy and frustrated after following exact procedures as stated in the terms. I totally disagree with the resolution stated and my arguments are as follows.

1. There is no mention in the terms which says that the amount cannot be shared. It says that the offer is not applicable on other means of payment. But it does not say anything on shared payment. As per the terms the minimum amount on the card should be Rs 6000 which i did by paying by Rs 9000. I think they have to learn from Amazon on how to write terms. Amazon clearly mentions if an offer is on a particular payment type then it must be fully paid with that payment type. Generic terms create ambiguity and consumer displeasure as happened to me. The onus is on the service provider to be clear in terms.

2. It is surprising that the MMT app basically checks if you are making payment using a different payment type and also applying the code. I used the same code FLYMON and tried paying the partial amount using PAYBACK for a different booking. But the app clearly validated saying that i can have either the PAYBACK payment or use coupon. I have to remove PAYBACK if i need to apply coupon. Thus i removed the PAYBACK and applied the coupon FLYMON instead. I was successful in the booking and also getting the cashback. This shows that the app is missing validations and shows favorism to certain payment types. I mean it should validate the same with all other payment types. But not validating against the wallet is a miss in the app and definitely cannot expect the consumer to know abt it.

3. MMT wallet is internal to them. I do agree they would like to promote it as per the app layout as first payment type. But they should understand that it causes issues if they do not validate it same as others. Please bear in mind i just paid Rs 500 only through the wallet and the remaining major portion of 9804 was paid through the card. How can they say that i paid it through the wallet. It is ridiculous.

Kindly provide me the cashback of Rs 1500 as per the offer to my booking and i am sure you will uphold the consumer is right philosophy. I think i did not do it wrong for the reason explained above and i am sure you will resolve the complaint in a favorable way

They looked into my issue and did consider the merit of my arguments. I believe they were convinced by my reply on why i was eligible for the cashback.I have received the cashback. 1500 in my bank account. thank you MMT for resolving the issue quickly and keeping the customer interest as prime. I wish the same care and concern is shown to other customers.
