I recently got a new phone mobile number and the old number is defunct. But in order to change my mobile number in my MakeMyTrip account profile, MMT wants me to enter an OTP they send to my old number, which is not accessible to me. So I am caught in a limbo.
I recently made a train booking on IRCTC and IRCTC has recorded my new number correctly but the MMT receipt somehow shows my old (useless) number,
In the MMT receipt there are 3 numbers provided to call for resolution of any problems but these have limited options and there is no way to communicate to anyone that I have this problem with my incorrect mobile phone number.
Their website lists phone numbers for offices in Mumbai but when I called these land line numbers for Andheri (E) office all the phone lines listed were not operational. Why can't they have updated information on their websites?
I am planning for a lot of winter travel but I cannot and will not use MakeMyTrip unless this issue is resolved because if they send messages to my old defunct number then I'll lose important information from them as well as the vendors (flights, hotel, etc.).
It has been absolutely frustrating as any emails I have sent to MMT have either been returned as not deliverable or gone down some black hole.
It looks like this MMT website was designed by technies without any understanding of human interactions. Adding insult to injury is to listen to your boasts on your recorded messages of having resolved 10 million customer issues when there is no option to resolve this issue with an incorrect mobile phone number in your transaction receipt.
Get a phone line where people can talk to operators who can solve the problem for your customers. Else, you will lose customers like me. While previously I would look first at MMT for my travel plans in India and outside, now I look at other websites.
At the very least provide an option to allow changes to registered mobile phone numbers in member account profiles.
