It's July 2022 and I am facing the same issue. I had a number from year 2013 on my account after which I left the country. Now I no longer have that number but if I try to update my number to my new Indian number (after logging in using my gmail), the site keeps sending an OTP to my old number ALTHOUGH I am logged in via email. CUSTOMER support was extremely useless as she kept telling me to redial the CUSTOMER support number and use the right IVR option - but never could tell me which is the right IVR option. I told her I do not get any option that includes updating profile/login information!! Then she goes on to ask me to create a new account. I asked her how would my available cash balance on my current account transfer to the new account in that case since it is currently linked with my existing gmail+ old phone number - to that she again speaks some ### about trying to CONTACT the cab service that I was trying to book. I told her it was MakeMyTrip cab service that I was trying to book!! To that she says that we cannot update the phone number. When I tell her so that mean my available cash balance is gone? To that she says No Ma'am. Maybe try calling the right IVR. Again. I asked her if there is a direct number for department that handles profile management since the IVR literally only has 4 options - Modify reservation, new reservation, failed transaction, something with MMT ICICI. I don't think she even knew what she was saying and I am stuck with this issue. Sounds like my available cash balance is actually GONE because MMT WON'T ALLOW YOU TO LOSE THE EXISTING PHONE NUMBER!!

Update: The OTP popup is a bug on their site apparently. I hit Verify without entering the OTP after which I was able to get the option to update my number. Hit and trial!
