National Highways Authority Of India [NHAI] — FasTag, Triple Amount Charged even with FasTag, Took Cash

Respected Sir/Ma’am,

I would like to escalate a grievance against ‘Sanwara Toll Plaza’. On the 7th June 2021, I was travelling from Delhi to Shimla along with my family, in two cars, adhering to the protocols set by our government.
Both the cars were with FasTags, and we were told that their system is not able to read our FasTags, and charged both the vehicles with double the amount of money (INR 110 each). However, the system was able to read for one car, and it was automatically deducted from my account. Technically, we paid triple the amount for one car and double the amount for the second car.

In the toll receipt it is clearly mentioned that the concerned person driving the vehicle will be charged double the amount if FasTag is not available, which was not the case with us. In addition to this, toll plaza employees misbehaved with the whole family that you will be charged with the money or else you won’t be allowed to cross the toll. It is one thing to charge triple, it is another to disrespect senior citizens. Also, they told us to purchase another FasTag from the Sanwara toll plaza, otherwise we won’t be able to cross freely.

If this the practice adopted by our government, where toll employees misbehave, overcharge and disrespect people, then I believe that the FasTag initiative is not doing any good to our citizens in general, it is just helping the government fill their pockets by cheating innocent consumers, which is against business ethics.

I would highly appreciate, that the authority please look into this and take strict action against the same and refund the amount which was unjustifiably charged to us.
