Terrible Experience with RedBus and Sunjay Travels – Avoid at All Costs
I am writing this review to share one of the most frustrating travel experiences I’ve ever had, hoping it helps others avoid similar trouble. On 8th June 2025, me and my friends were scheduled to travel from Agra to Jaipur. We had booked a bus through RedBus for 9:30 PM operated by Sunjay Travels. The ordeal began well before the journey even started.
A short while after booking, we received a call from the bus operator informing us that the bus was cancelled. There was no official communication from RedBus, just an informal call.in a hurry to reach Jaipur, we immediately booked another bus scheduled for 11:00 PM. During this time, we repeatedly tried to reach RedBus customer support to confirm the cancellation and seek help, but no response ever came from their side. That was extremely unprofessional and disappointing.
Then, at 8:30 PM – almost an hour before the original departure time – we received a message from RedBus saying that the 9:30 PM bus would be departing as scheduled! This was the same bus we were told had been cancelled. Since the refund window had closed and we had no confirmation about the status, we had to cancel the 11:00 PM bus. As a result, we each lost ₹300 for no fault of our own.
The situation only got worse from there.
The bus, which was supposed to depart at 9:30 PM, actually started moving only at 10:40 PM. The vehicle was in extremely poor condition – old, rusted, dirty, and looked like it should not even be allowed to operate. Honestly, it felt like a health hazard. The condition of the bus was so bad that a tetanus shot seemed necessary just for stepping inside.
What followed was complete chaos. Despite the bus being nearly full, the staff started picking up random passengers off the roadside, cramming two people into single sleeper berths and four into double berths. It was severely overcrowded and clearly overbooked. To make things worse, they kept stopping to load parcels, treating the bus like a delivery truck instead of a passenger vehicle.
When passengers raised concerns about the delay, overcrowding, and poor condition of the bus, the crew offered no explanation. Their only response was, “You booked through RedBus, talk to them.” This kind of attitude is unacceptable.
The journey, which was supposed to end by 3:00 AM on 9th June, only concluded at 4:50 AM. The delay, discomfort, and lack of basic service made this entire trip a nightmare.
In summary, this experience exposed the poor coordination between RedBus and its operators, lack of customer support, and complete disregard for safety and service standards. I strongly advise everyone to think twice before booking with RedBus or traveling with Sunjay Travels. It’s simply not worth the stress, time, and money.
