Can you please confirm if prajwal and surka are enployed hy your ngo to canvass people by faking that they are it professionals and seek our donations coming to our office premise?
Because i am yet to receive any proof of receipt of my donation.
Email: [protected]@indiasupport.co.in
Has been unresponsive which is the id provided in the donor form which has sightsavers logo on it!
If i do not receive a response to this with any confirmation saying these are legit people, i shall file a police complaint.
Thanks
Shilpa

The employees of sightsavers - meenakshi n. And prajwal (Bangalore) entered my home yesterday almost forcibly (Because you can't be rude to someone new asking - if we can come into your home?)
They told me about the sightsavers' work and that they are funding blind kids and have arranged some help on the occasion of christmas.
They asked to donate for the cause, which i agreed to. But they told me there only some fixed donation amounts and i have to select one of those. I agreed to donate for an amount. They said it will be either online or cheque transaction. I agreed to do by card. After entering my basic details in the columns on the website link for donation, the lady took my smartphone from me saying - i'll enter the further details. She entered the amount on her own and asked me to proceed further for card details.

She (Meenakshi n.) had hidden from me that the minimum amount was far less than i donated and that's why she very tactfully took my phone from me to enter the higher amount.

This is the way nowadays educated and trained people cheat citizens and emotionally blackmail them in the name of charity.

No one will trust you guys if you do such things and blackmail people emotionally for such acts.

      Hi,

I have received call from sight savers and agreed to donate. But i said to that person that i will donate using online option which is available on the sight savers website. She is saying that it is not possible for them to track my transactions and asking me to submit my bank account number and cancelled check or bank statement. I wish to do online transaction myself, as i am not feeling safe sharing my personal bank details. As long as the purpose is served,
What is the problem in the ways.
And also it is bit annoying that, i am receiving call very regularly...

      Regards,

People from this NGO are calling and asking for bank account number and no cancellation cheque, bank passbook xerox so that she can withdraw money from my account every month, which they are not supposed to ask.. When i asked them why they are asking fior bank details the lady who called me is telling that she want to check my identity. For donation why she want to check my identity. She wants a bank account number so that every month she can withdraw amount money from that without my concern. She is asking money of 9000 rupees. nd demanding me to give now itself.
I think this is a fraud NGO.
        People please be aware.

        Sightsavers Customer Care's response
Dear Lakshman, We at Sightsavers truly value and understand your concern and would investigate further into the issue. At the same time, we would also like to acknowledge the fact that under no circumstances can anyone attempt to withdraw funds from anyone’s account until the account holder offers his/her consent by signing a mandate form which gets approved by the bank. In the event, you agree to support our cause only then would we request for a cancelled cheque just to validate the account details filled up on the mandate. If in case you do not have a cheque book so as an alternative, we would offer the option to share a self-attested copy of your passbook or bank statement which has all the requisite account information for validation. Please be rest assured that at no point and through no process would we compel you to make a donation or even withdraw any funds from any account without your signed consent. Just to share something about us, Sightsavers is a global development organisation that works with partners in over 30 countries to eliminate avoidable blindness, and fights for the rights and needs of people who are visually impaired or blind. Sightsavers has been working in India since 1966 and has enabled thousands of people to lead lives of independence and dignity. We have been working with local partners to strengthen organisations and communities, and have supported the treatment of millions of people with eye disorders. We have educated, counselled, trained and rehabilitated people who are visually impaired or blind, and helped extend the reach of eye services to the least served areas of India. We would be happy to help you with any further questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to write to us directly on [protected]@sightsavers.org and we will come back to you at the earliest. Kind regards Sightsavers Team

Whether to donate to an NGO or not is my personal choice. I donate to other charities and there's only so much I can do when Sight Savers called me. I was blunt and told them I don't think I will make a donation now. Why would they keep calling me and pestering me?

Maybe I'm going to be born a blind bat for not donating to an NGO for children but that's between myself and god to decide whether I was generous or narrow minded!

Why would sightsavers CALL people and ask for donations? Where's the money for telemarketing coming from? Is it from the donations that we give?

I'm also getting calls from multiple numbers. Each time I block a number on Truecaller, I get a call from another number. It's harassment!
          Dear Harsha,

We truly understand your concern and would like to apologies for any inconvenience caused to you. We at Sightsavers are really apprehensive about such issues and so for us to be able to take corrective actions we would need to a) request you to please share your contact number with us so that it can be permanently deleted from our database and b) request for the phone number through which you were contacted so that we are able to trace back the source of the call.
