I purchased Sony TV KLV37S400A in Oct 2008. Exactly 5.5 years after purchase, the TV went dead. When I power ON the TV, its power light blinks 8 times and picture never comes. I filed complained (No:[protected] with Sony on 21 April 2014. The complaint was assigned to NRI Electronics, Ghaziabad. The technician visited my house and told that TV needs to be taken to service center for repair. I took TV to their service center on 26 April for repairs and left it there.
For 3 days, they never reverted to me on its diagnosis. When I tried to call them - there is no response !! SONY's Greater Noida service center[protected] never picks up the phone. Their Ghaziabad service center[protected]/4296677) picks up the phone at their "will".
I need to repeatedly call them to get the status on my TV job. When "someone" does pick up the phone, the standard answer from operator is that the job progress has not been updated online yet and they have to check with their technical team and revert to me within 15 min. However, those "15 min" never come. I need to keep calling them repeatedly to get the progress of my TV repair.
After much repeated tireless calling, the service center reverted and told me that mother board has gone defective and it needs to be replaced. I was told that replacement cost is @INR 6.5K and it will take 2-3 days for repair- which I okayed. And then again there was complete silence from their side.
Today, after multiple repeated calling attempts, my call was finally picked up by their service center staff. I was told that my TV is beyond repair and I need to purchase a new one.
I was surprised to hear this!! Are SONY branded products supposed to last only 5 years !! And why I should be held liable to pay 100% amount for new TV without any compensation from Sony.
I see this as a trick by SONY to fool customers by not repairing their TV but forcing them to buy new one.
I am looking forward to get a favourable help/response from your side in getting my TV either repaired or fully compensated by Sony. I have lost trust and confidence in SONY brand.
