I had purchased a star health India cancer policy on Dec 09 2021 for rs 26845 . I left india on Dec 16 2021. The agent Mr. Gulshan prajapati told me that the policy would reach in soft and hard copy . I waited till Jan 02 2022, i had not recd any policy documents, so i contacted the agent and he told him that their doctors are asking for pet scan report, i told the agent that when we had discussed i had submitted all relevant documents to him . My own doctor for cancer treatment has never asked for a pet scan so on what basis the insurance doctors are asking for pet scan report and that since I was out of India it is not possible for me to get a pet scan as I was sailing . So i requested to cancel my policy and reimburse the amount . There was continuous mail exchanges from Jan to mar asking for refund, finally a DD dated 12 Jan 2022 reached my house in second week of March 2022. The DD was valid for only three months and by the time my letter reached home for putting the DD in my account, the time had elapsed and DD was invalid . I reached home on third week June and got in touch with agent again where he requested cancelled blank check and account details for electronic transfer . In July the agent claimed to be down with typhoid, when I contacted him again in September he said he will speak to his superior and reimburse the amount . It is November 2022 almost a year from when the amount was paid and still not reimbursed by the company. Cancer is a family and financial killer, at this time if insurance companies also try and cheat and make money on you it becomes very difficult for the affected individual . Kindly look into the matter .
