[Resolved]  Samsung Electronics / Plasma Tv Ps42a450 - W / M — Defective part not replaced free of cost

Address:Haryana

Dear Sir,

This is to bring to your kind notice that I had bought a Samsung Plasma TV (model number: PS42A450-W/M) on 6th September 2009. The product came with 2 year manufacturer’s warranty. However, the main panel of the TV (Part code: BN96-16256A) went bad immediately after the expiry of the warranty and needed to be replaced. Hence, in October 2011, I paid about Rs. 20,000 and got that panel replaced. The panel didn’t come with any warranty and there was no maintenance contract whatsoever that Samsung provided me. On my part, I have taken utmost care of the TV and it is always connected to a UPS considering the frequent electricity outages in Gurgaon.

In less than 12 months, the same panel has gone bad again in early September 2012. I filed a complaint with Samsung (ref number: [protected]). After a lot of follow up with Samsung and repeated requests to their servicing team, they have refused to replace the part free of cost for me.

I believe that the company provided me a defected part and is not taking any responsibility now. I bought this TV 3 years ago at a cost of Rs. 53,000. The panel costs Rs. 20,000. So in effect, I have already spent more than Rs. 73,000 on a TV the market value of which is only Rs. 35,000 today! It is not at all justified for Samsung to expect me to shell out another Rs. 20,000 again for the same part that doesn’t even come with any warranty.

Request you to kindly look into the matter and help me get a free-of-cost replacement of the panel with at least a 5-years’ warranty on the same. Else, Samsung should take away the TV and pay me back Rs. 73,000.

Regards,
Shilpi Shastri

Samsung — Faulty plasma tv

Sir, I had bought Samsung Plasma tv series 4, 42" from military canteen authorised electronic shop in Jan.2009 for Rs.48000/-This plasma has worked for nearly one and half year since A major defect as vertical line appeared on the tv panel. I contacted Samsung company The firm had deputed engineer, he elobrated the fault as a major fault witout even touching the tv which can only be rectified by replacing main screen panel.
Subsequently, SAMSUNG HAS GIVEN THE estmate of Rs 24000/-(half of the cost price) for replacing the panel. It is wonderful that how the SAmsung is cheating the public by selling such hopeless costly products.
In this connecton,I request Samsung to kindly rectify the defect without changing screen panel. If it is not possible, then I will say that samsung is basically looting public. Thanks.

The mail I wrote to Samsung after their engineer visited again today - just to hghlight the pathetic attitude of Samsung towrads its customers:

___

Dear Sir/ Madam,

Thank you very much for taking the pain of arranging a visit of your engineer (Mr. Bhushan, if I am not wrong, this was the name of the gentleman who came) to my place to have a look at the TV and understand the actual problem. While Mr. Bhushan will do his bit in terms of preparing a report and giving you the feedback, let me share my experience of the two-month ordeal with your service team. I am also marking this mail to Mr. B. D. Park and Mr. Ambrish Bakaya. Hopefully my plea and feedback will be attended to.

For the benefit of all, here’s a quick brief of the situation – the main panel of the Samsung Plasma TV that I have bought in July 2009 for Rs. 53, 000, went bad in two years. I paid nearly Rs. 16-17k on my own and got the panel replaced in Oct 2011. The same panel again went bad recently in August 2012 (less than 10 months!!!) and your company expects me to bear the cost of this faulty panel again (i.e. another 16-17k) to get the TV in working condition.

For your kind information, the current market price of the same TV is nearly Rs. 35k (as checked at a Croma store nearby). I have already spent about Rs.70k on this piece of junk and I am expected to spend another Rs.17k to get this TV in working condition. This means that you are expecting me to shell out about Rs. 90k for something that’s hardly worth Rs. 35k (about 40%). I hope you understand that in no way that sounds like a reasonable expectation.

My experience with Mr Bhushan (the engineer who visited today) kind of tells me that Samsung doesn’t care about its customers at all. So to start with, Mr. Bhushan comes to my place at about 7:30 pm; has a brief look at the TV; connects it to the power supply; examines the screen and finally declares that the panel is not working – all this done in a span of 5 minutes. Next, he tells me that the panel comes at a cost of Rs. 16k after discount. I tell him that I have already clearly expressed my requirement that I need a free-of-cost replacement for this faulty part with a 5-years warranty. The gentleman nods his head horizontally and tells me that “it’s out of question”. He asks me whether they should close my case as I am not willing to pay for the panel!!! On top of that, he also has the audacity to ask me to pay for his ‘visiting charges’!!! I then politely tell him to get out of my house.

You know, I am running out of words and patience to describe how betrayed I am feeling at the moment. All the promise of Samsung of “making a better world” is nothing more than a cheap marketing gimmick. This is how a customer gets treated when he puts in his faith and hard earned money in buying products from an MNC like yours. Trust me, I am not giving up on this and I am not going to leave any stone unturned to ensure that my story is known to the entire world and people think twice before buying any Samsung product.

Very warm regards,
Shilpi
