This is Merwyn and I’m using Vodafone (VI) for the past 14yrs[protected]. I have been having issues with International Roaming charges which was imposed to me with no network/service after activating the International Roaming packages. This is the second time I’m facing the issue.
1. I had similar issue when I was traveling to Netherlands during April 2022 and there was no solution, I wasn’t charged for it but I had business impact on having no network while I was roaming.
2. I recently traveled to USA, and activated the International Roaming package of Rs 3, 999 for 10 days for free local calls and data package. From the time I activated, the network provider AT&T had only data but I wasn’t able to make any calls. I initiated the complaint request to VI and they tried helping me to switch to other network provider, T-Mobiles. I did and there I found I had no data package but the calls were going. When I checked with VI customer support team, they requested me to use T-mobiles for calls and At&T for data – which is simple a stupid workaround. Every time I had to switch to the different network manually, I had to wait for 30-45 mins to latch the signal/network. This is their fault on the network and due to this I had to miss a lot of business calls from India during the 10days visit in USA.
Now that VI has raised a monthly bill of Rs 5, 924 where they have charged Rs 4, 747 for International Roaming fee. I requested Vi to waive off the additional cost and quantify the value of their services for the 10days in USA and provide me an updated bill. They reached out to me and said, all they can do it they can reduce Rs1, 000 from the bill for their issue with their network. But this is absolutely not sufficient for me as this is now becoming a workaround for Vi to impose unnecessary bill to me. I requested them that I can’t pay anything above Rs 2, 000/monthly bill for the worst service and roaming package they have offered me. The support agent said he can’t do anything.
I’m writing to the consumer complaint board to take strict action against Vi and to waive off the International Roaming fee from my monthly bill. Hope I can get your support on this.
