I have a Bajaj Dominar 400 which is 5 year old.
Yesterday, while riding the bike at around 40kmph, the rear bttre locked automatically and the bike skid for around 20 meters on the middle of the road. Thereafter the bike couldnt be put on th roadside since the rear wheel was still locked for another 4-5 minutes. After 5 minutes the wheel unlocked automatically and then I was able to take the bike off the middle of the road.
The bike's last servicing happened at Bajaj's authorised service centre in Vasai Road (east), Palghar district, Pin - 401208 in Aug 2022.
Today when I visited the service centre, I was told there is a rubber part which is worn out and hence this problem had arisen. When I asked ' shouldnt you have cheked this in Aug 22 and advised us that this part may require replacement' the answer I received from the technician was 'how would we know which part will get worn out, when?'
I found this answer as very disturbing as this meant that nor the bike manufacturer nor its service centre is ready to take the responsibility of proper bike servicing so that such issues can be avoided.
I believe that the service centre technician should have seen this issue i..e the wer and tear of the rubber part in Aug 22 itself (since that rubber part was never changed in last 5 years and of course it isnt that the rubber was in perfect condition till Aug 2022 and suddenly the wear and tear happened in last 10 months only). As a common man, we go to service centre so that the skilled technicians over there can judge and advise which parts require replacement so as to make our bike riding non-threatening.
I believe that it was very unprofessional for the technician to not know and not advise on replacement of these critical spare parts as this can be life threatening.
I have owned multiple bikes in last 18 years (Bajaj Caliber 115 for 5 years, Honda unicorn for 7 years, Harley Street 750 for 5 years etc) but have never faced this issue ever. Was this information helpful? |
