delayed services and bad ground staff services

I along with my family took a flight from Toronto to New Delhi via Abu Dhabi on 9th May 2024, flight no EY140 and EY 218.

Our ordeal started right after boarding completed before time. 20 min after the departure time of the flight, the captain announced that we need to go back to stands (wow!) due to technical issues. (Wonder why this technical check wasn't done before boarding the passengers?). Again we kept on sitting in...

Hi,
I was travelling to Melbourne to Ahmedabad by Etihad Airways.
During this flight the Air hostess served me spoiled/ Stale food. I had 3-4 spoon out of it and it was bad in taste and very sticky, so i checked closely and smell it. I also noticed its smells terrible sour smell, slimy texture. which was showing that food is stale since 3-4 days. which is an indicator that there's too much moisture and it could harbor bad bacteria.

I directly talked to Airhostess and showed her that this is very slimy texture and having bad smell and taste. she got scared and trying to request me not to disclose with anyone about it and asking me to delete the video.
she was manager of the flight cabin crew. she told me that you are talking to right person and she said she will check and let me know. later she came back and confirm with me that the food id stale and you can do whatever you want to like. she will support me .she assured on it.
in entire flight i was felling Nauseated and vomiting's and i did it twice. i was restless. i couldn't eat anything after this incident in flight. i skipped 3 meals and not had anything. it was very terrible journey for me.

It is Arilines duties to make sure they serve fresh food in flight. A person travelling by air expects a certain standard of courtesy, care and service. if the airline is negligent, it is liable to compensate the consumer.
The compensation should commensurate with the seriousness deficiency in service.

        This is in reference to a flight booking with Etihad Airways and the consequent malicious practice of Etihad in not honouring their terms, resulting in huge losses to me.

        In August 2021, I had booked a business class flight with Etihad Airways from Delhi- Toronto for INR 1.51 Lakhs booking reference LIYZFX. At the time of booking the flight I was informed by Ms. Khatija at customer service that upon cancellation of this flight, I will receive the entire amount in a travel bank, which will remain valid for 2 years (until August 2023), along with $400 USD and 5000 guest miles (Confirmation of booking attached). Recently, I wanted to use a portion of my travel credit and to enquire about the travel credit I had, I emailed etihad travel bank and to my utter shock, was informed that my travel credit is valid for 365 days from the date it was issued and is expiring on September 30, 2022. I distinctly remember being told at the time of booking my business class ticket from DEL-YYZ that the travel credit will remain valid for at least 2 years (I also have an audio recording of my conversation with an Etihad customer service agent Khatija, from the time of booking, as proof (attached). In fact I was also told that I will receive an additional 5000 miles and $400USD at the time of cancellation, which I never received. Reducing the validity of the travel credit by 1 year is absolutely unacceptable and extremely unethical and amounts to misrepresentation by customer executive named Khatija at the time of booking. I have sent more than 10 emails to [protected]@etihad.ae and [protected]@etihad.ae and spoken to the customer service executives, on call multiple times over the last 1.5 months despite having to wait on hold for 2 hours+ and have received no resolution from anyone at Etihad. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service. I have been a frequent flyer with Etihad for years and trusted Etihad basis information provided when I booked my Business class ticket, which I had to cancel due Covid. Etihad cannot unilaterally change the validity period now. Please have it reinstated to the 2 year validity period at the earliest and also credit 400 USD and 5000 miles as promised at the time of sale of ticket, otherwise it will amount to misrepresentation. We requested etihad to please call on +91 [protected] to resolve this at the earliest possible but no luck.

        I am now unsure of how to proceed since my travel points will lapse in the next 1 month and I will lose INR 1.51 Lakhs without any fault of mine.

        Request you to please help resolve and get Etihad to return our travel bank money or comply with their promise of 2 years validity of the travel bank and also credit 400 USD and 5000 miles as promised at the time of sale of ticket.

          Request you to please help resolve and get Etihad to return our travel bank money or comply with their promise of 2 years validity of the travel bank and also credit 400 USD and 5000 miles as promised at the time of sale of ticket.

              I had booked a ticket from Chennai to Dublin for the 13th of August. It was scheduled for 4th September - EZWPVX. You guys canceled my ticket on 31st August with a mere email. You gave me a few funny reasons while other flights via the same route were not canceled. Because of your last-minute cancellation, I had to almost pay double the amount and book my ticket via a different airline.
              Until today I have not received my flight booking refund. I keep calling your customer service which never gets connected.
              Does it take 3 months to credit the refund for a ticket that you guys canceled?
              Please note that I am not asking for compensation but my money for a ticket that you canceled. What you guys are doing is pure harassment. I demand my refund to be credited. If I don't get any refund or any response to this, I will be forced to file a complaint in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

                Hi,

                I originally booked a flight ticket on the 8th December from Bangalore to Cairo on Skyscanner.com. The airline(Etihad) cancelled the flight and rescheduled it to 10th december. When I approached the travel agent (Bravofly/lastminute) the only option they gave me was a refund option (even though I requested for an alternate flight) which I refused. I decided to fly on the 10th. Recently I went on Skyscanner website and double checked on Etihad website that the airline had reintroduced the same flights on the 8th December. When I called Etihad customer care they refused to take any responsibility and reschedule the flight to the 8th December even though there were tickets available on their website. They refused to help me in anyway possible. They are cheating customers by cancelling and reintroducing flights. Pls help me reschedul flights to 8th December from Bangalore to Cairo without any additional cost.

                  I have booked a ticket for my daughter ISHITA MALLIK through Etihad Airways Customer care vide PNR ZOJUMG from India to Toronto YYZ for 19th April 2021. I booked the ticket through Etihad customer care directly and paid Rs.58, 639/- through ICICI bank transfer. Unfortunately the flight got cancelled for travel ban due to Covid pandemic situation and I initiated a refund on 11th April 2021 through Etihad customer care. They asked me to wait for 7 to 45 working days for the refund. After that time period when I contacted them in June’21 they said I have to wait for another 7-10 days. Every time I call them they made false commitment by saying the same thing like wait for 7 days. On July 11, 2021 I got to know from their customer care that they have mistaken the Account holders name as ISHITA MALLIK instead of CHANDRIMA MALLIK. I was told that they have rectified the name and refund initiated again on 11th July and I have to wait at least another 30 days for refund. Today is 14th September and till date neither I have received the money nor any communication from Etihad Airways.
                  The ticket for the daughter does not exit in the international civil aviation.
                  The ticket can be for infant who is accompanied by the adult, for the child, for the adult.
                  There is no visible ticket for [censored]A MALLIK and the notice of the cancellation attached.
                  So, the there is nobody's obligation to pay unidentified sum to unidentified account of the anonymous person.

                    My PNR NO is UQQYKI and e ticket no[protected]. I and my wife were to travel to Amsterdam on 10th Sept morning via Abu Dhabi. YESTERDAY ie 07 Sept evening while checking my ticket I found my ticket from Mumbai to Amsterdam missing from my itenary and to top it neither the Airline or the travel agent informed me. On extensive enquiry initially I was told that the flight was cancelled(I am a Pilot and hold CHPL 447)but later was told that certain tickets were cancelled because of certain restrictions imposed at Abu Dhabi with respect to number of passengers. I understand that the flight is operating but passengers who were lucky to get cheap tickets earlier have been denied travel and their tickets being sold at 4 to 5 times the price. Let me make you aware that if restrictions on number of passengers is there then an airline is to operate at 50% or 60 %of its load and its not a very difficult proposition for me to find that out, and if that be so the airline better watch out. You are resorting to unscrupulous means of making money which is absolutely not in line with our Aviation standards. I have entailed a loss of 3 lakhs in terms of making arrangements for this travel and if I am not there provided with an immediate travel I am going to press all actions available to me, whether it be social media or consumer forum or DGCA into service for the mental trauma and financial losses caused to me.                     The responding party has a right to leave the submitter without the answer if
                    1) the submitter can not e identified by full name and his place of residence and has no ID document (aadhaar)
                    2) there is no valid document of air transportation (ticket, pnr, ), which produces the full name of the passenger
                    3) the submitter follows his or her contradictory statements or the fantasy ("... while checking my ticket I found my ticket from Mumbai to Amsterdam missing from my itenary and to top it neither the Airline or the travel agent informed me.")
                    4) the submitter does state the address for the answer.

                    If such statements are done by the government employee repeatedly, more than 2 times within short period of the time (day/week), such employee has insufficient qualifications for the service of the government (the Sultanate, the Emirate) customers.

                      I hold an open ticket from Mumbai to Washington DC return, which has been converted to open ticket due to travel ban from India to US. I now want to cancel this ticket as the travel ban continues and i cannot hold an open ticket indefintely.

                        I have booked the tickets. After one day I have some transit VISA issue, so requested for cancellation. I have called several times but the Etihad consultant rejects my request, giving the excuse of my ticket was not eligible for a refund.

                        Even after showing the proof of my ticket eligibility for a refund they simply ignored it.

                        Therefore please do travel with Etihad airline. All they mentioned on the website is just fake and trap.

                        The visitors do not see the owning of any ticket.

                        It is a constant misunderstanding of 80 % + complainants of Etihand air carrier,
                        others have to execute the act in the favour of the submitter without the presentation of the valid clean document of the air transportation (ticket or pnr / bag tag).

                        The complaint without the evidence shall be left without the examination by the responding party.

                          I booked 4 return tikets on Etihad airlines for August 13th from Thiruvanathapuram to Chicago. My booking number was FNBYBK and confirmed tiket with seat numbers. The seats were alloted on flights numbers EY273 (TRV-AUH) and EY151 (AUH-ORD). On August 5th Etihad informed that the flight EY273 has been cancelled. The same day UAE uplifted the travel ban from India. We contacted Etihad airlines and they said we will get priority whenever the flight resume. From August 10th the flight number EY273 resumed from Thiruvanathapuram. I contacted Etihad airlines and they said no seats avaliable till Septemer. Due to our employment and college studies we couldn't wait till September, so we booked another tiket through Air India which incured additional exp of $7, 500 due to the un ethical behavior of Etihad airways.

                              I am a frequent traveller to europe on business purpose. This time i preferred etihad airlines for my travel, which very much regretting and frustrating. While travelling from india to frankfurt, i was asked to postpone my travel to next day due to over booking. Some how didnt happen because i did not accept to change my plan. While return back to india, at abudabhi ethad team denied my boarding. I have well planned and booked the flight as per my comfort, comittments, personal works, paid huge amount on flight ticket. I have planned to visit to my home town hyderabad on 17th sunday. Now as i was stopped from boarding at terminal3 of abudhabi airport, all the planning got effected. Who compensates my valuable time. Accommodation provided was very bad. Room was in a dormitory where just space for a bed something like a cell just for sleeping. No facilities are available. Forced to use public airport toilets. I got to run more distance for food. Even the food that we can get with coupon is very limited not sufficient. Atleast if the service and accommodation is good i could have managed. But its a very worst service from etihad. Frustrating. When i questioned the people at information center who changed my flight to next day, they are not responding well. Told me to raise a complaint in the etihad website with very casual way. I have travelled in lufthanza, emirates and other airlines. Never had any problem. I would have booked better flight if they could have made "flight full/no seats avaialble" in booking sites. Why are they allowing overbooking of flights? Who compensates for my valuable rime i dated in airport? Its almost one day. Who are they to change my flight of i have already booked on perticular date? Please give me the justification. I had very bad time and discomfort lost my whole day of time inspire of spending huge amount on booking ticket in etihad airlines.

                              => I have raised a complaint in social media as you suggested.
                              => But the Etihad representative at social media asking me like why did not denied at the starting point "Frankfurt"? Now it is not possible for compensation. If the Etihad representative at Frankfurt does not give true information when ask for second boarding pass and if She tell that I will be issued with boarding pass at "Abudhabi" airport, How can I deny in this case. just to manage the situation and cheat customer Etihad representative did not behave professionally.
                              =>He said nothing in his hand, asked me to Contact Etihad Guest relationship team.
                              =>I have done that also, I raised concern in Etihad Official website also. But I did not get any response yet. No one contacted me.

                              Apart from this

                              =>At "Abudhabi" Etihad executives did not give right information when I ask for Tourist Visa as wait time is "18h" She simply told It is not possible just to manage the things, Later I realize that this can be done in 0.5h to 1h.
                              => She told I will be avail with good accommodation and food, again this is not true, they arrange dormitory having a rack of 2 beds, no wash room and nothing. Food was very limited, Just allowed to take any one item.
                              => She gave a coupon of 200 Dollars and told be that I can use it for travel any where, but she did not tell that I can use it in Etihad, later when I verify I can use it in only Etihad, For booking I should run to Etihad office, which Can't use inside India within a year.

                              Later when I ask them about above 3 points, they said we cant do any thing, you can contact customer care/ guest relationship team.

                              Just to manage the situation they hide information to the customer. Very unprofessional. All the reason for false information is compensation as per the Etihad terms and conditions @ https://www.etihad.com/en-us/legal/terms-and-conditions/

                                Every year i experience issues with baggage (Either missing or damaged) but this year etihad went a step ahead and i have several expensive items missing from my checked in baggage. I've submitted complaint but from my past experience i know that they'll hardly do anything. I'm a gold member but my return flight will be the last time i'm flying with etihad. I'm heart broken because those were special gifts for my brothers, school teacher and little nephews and something i had promised them to bring. I'm absolutely speechless and shattered!

                                  It is with great regret and hurt i am raising this complaint. I had a flight from bangalore to dublin on 1st jan 2019 and i had called to enquire about excess baggage and a call back was arranged and i paid for excess 5 kgs at rs. 11715. At the check in desk, they said my bag cannot weigh more than 32 kgs (It was 36.5 kgs) and said i could shift to the hand luggage since i have already paid and check in that as well. So, i just shifted things to my hand luggage which was 7 kgs and after shifting weighted up to 12 kgs. But at the desk they made me pay another rs. 23430 as the total weight was 45 kgs. Out of 45kgs, 7 kgs was my cabin luggage and i had paid for excess baggage up to 5 kgs.

                                  It was only after they said i could shift and check in i put the weight in check in bag and i have been cheated. So i didn't get any cabin luggage and had to pay too much money and they were rushing me. They took ages for a smaller queue and the ground staff in bangalore are very shrewd and lack manners and etiquette.
                                  At the desk, i was told i can move 1 kg to reduce weight to my back pack and they still charged for 10 kgs instead of 9kgs. Why would they do this? It is totally unethical for etihad to have charged me rs. 23430 after i already paid 11k for 5 kgs. My excess baggage was only 5 kgs but they did not let me check in one bag and didn't let hand luggage exceed more than 7. Could you please check and see if i can get the 23k refund as it's totally unfair and i did pay for excess 5 kgs. Only because they combined my check in and cabin cabbage the total was 45 kgs (Including excess). This is a lot of money for me and i feel cheated and pressurised to have paid this as they were late and rushing me. They did not even give me a small bag to put the excess baggage and did not inform me about this when i called to pay for the excess baggage or even when i was shifting things to the cabin baggage. People at the desk said i can shift to the hand luggage instead of being clear and saying i need to get an extra bag. I am a frequent flyer with etihad and i have never experienced anything like this before. I'm very disappointed and upset and hoping i get some compensation.

                                  No words can express how i felt that night at the airport and still feel about the extra 23k i had to pay. My mother was out and i could have taken a bag from her and put the additional 5kgs. Even when i paid for it over the phone, the executive did not mention that it has to be an extra bag. Facts were concealed and i have been charged for no fault of mine.

                                    I have traveled from malpensa (Italy) to pune (India) on 25th oct by etihad airline. Below are my flight details

                                    I was travelling with two check in bags, first one with 29.9 kg & second one was with 14.8 kg, as per airline policy below economy baggage limit was 30 kg, so my first bag was as per the required airline limit.

                                    For second baggage, since it was less than 15 kg, as per below attached information (From etihad website), cost of excess baggage is 338 euro, however airline charged me 800 euros at check in counter. During that time it was big queue crowd on check in counter and one hour was left to board the flight so i was also in hurry to catch flight on time.

                                    Thus etihad airline charged me extra 462 euro amount, this is really big amount for me.

                                    I kindly request you to check all the attached details and refund me excess amount (800euro - 338euro=462 euro) taken by airline.

                                    Ethihad is worst ever airline I saw, they find small things and grab money from customer during check in time.. My experience from travel from Italy to Pune was worst and airline took 462 additional euros than normal extra baggage charges.. I tried to justify them there mistake but they do not have customer care office who cares for customer.

                                      You guys are damaged my back on 3rd September today is 26th September 2018 and you're not solving my problem and you did not give me a compensation and I'm asking give me my new bag or give my money back

                                      As I told you that in 2, 000 Rupees I cannot buy any Violet in Paris so I need my new bag or I need my 115 Euro or an end one ticket free .and after seeing these pictures imagine yourself what service they are providing for new customer as well as the guest .And now they are forcing me to take 2, 000 Rupees Indian currency if you converted in Euro it is 20 Euro I traveled with Etihad airlines on 3rd of September 2018 and today is 26th of September 2018 nobody giving good respond for my damaged bag as well as they are hurting me by telling me that they will give me two thousand rupees Indian currency.
                                      Note: this is the picture after repaired my damaged bag from Etihad Airlines and the service agent called me that by telling that my bag is ready to use and see how the repair my bag and imagine yourself.

                                        Where as the check in bag was not received in rome airport.
                                        The official confirmed to send it to hotel address but no updates were received in the ticket fcoey14700 raised for the missing baggage.

                                        We could not trace the baggage still and no response is received from etihad office in rome. When he had tried to contact them they could not convey in english.
                                        We reached in etihad chennai office and they are unwilling to extend any support on this tough scenario faced by travelers in different nation.

                                        We request for immediate baggage delivery to geneva ariport at the earliest which no offices of etihad is recognising and accepting.
                                        Totally dissatisfied by service of etihad airways.

                                        The traveller are stranded at switzerland without having proper thermal wear and suits for the conference planned to attend. The traveller is a doctor surgeon by profession went to attend a conference in Geneva and also visit few places.
                                        The luggage need not be sent by post by needs to be sent to Geneva airport Etihad office which can be collected by him.

                                          I booked 2 etihad tickets for my children. Reference # ey/lluzli. It is from hyderabad to toronto via abu dhabi (1 stop). They are flying today 29 aug 2018. At airport the boarding passes were given late as there was some problem with the machine. They were told that these re the boarding passes from hyderabad to toronto. Later, at securtiy when they checked the boarding passes it was from hyderabad to toronto via abu dhabi (And dublin). They took a soneone's phoena dn informed me about this change (That too without informing). I don't know how this is possible, when every detail is correctly displayed online. How can they do this, where will the luggage go, whom should i contact, when the passengers have already boarded the flight for 1st leg of journey. I hope they reach toronto safe. They took a someone's phone and spoke to me about this change (which airlines staff clearly didn't bother to inform me or my children). I don't know how this is possible, when every detail is correctly displayed online. How can they do this, where will the luggage go, whom should I contact, when the passengers have already boarded the flight for 1st leg of journey. I hope they reach Toronto safe.                                             Hi,

                                            I was travelling to business trip from Pune to Dublin on 1st July.

                                            Etihad Airways missed my baggage in Abu Dabhi and it was delivered to me after to days . When i received my bag it was sevierly damaged and all contents were spilled all over place in spite of marking baggage as Fragile.

                                            Not i am in Dublin and trying to reach Etihad team via mail or phone but they are not responding.

                                              Booked 3 ticket online on 23rd june 2018, booking ref : kuyjjp,

                                              I have entered every passenger details very carefully, when i checked ticket received on my email, my daughter last is showing incorrect, when i called customer care number [protected] they said you have to pay 7000 for my daughter name correction
                                              Is this only because of cheaper ticket i booked through online.. Now they are leveling money by this way..

                                              Contact center is asking for 7000 to update last name?
                                              Why should i pay is this is not my mistake
                                              It was your system who picked incorrect name of my daughter
                                              I have entered each an every details very carefully
                                              Why should i pay more???
                                              Why i booked eihad ticket only because of good price.. Was not aware you people are making fool by this way... Asking for extra money in the name of name correction

                                                I have booked my return flight to india from london for 3rd march 2018 so that i could reach on 4th march 2018 and for these particular dates, i have not just paid additional cancellation charges for this also preponed my plan because of some urgent work at work place.

                                                I supposed to reach delhi on 4th march 2018 at 1:10 pm, but my flight from london delayed more than an hour (Attaching the details of boarding pass for your reference), which makes another delay from abu dhabi transit.

                                                Though i have reached abu dhabi at 7:55 am and the connecting flight was at 8:20 am but they denied for the boarding reasoning the gate has been closed (But what i got to know it was because of overbooking of the flight).

                                                It was much of a hassle and physically and mental exertion because of the following reasons:

                                                A) as i suppose to reach delhi on 4th march from abu dhabi in the afternoon at 1:10 pm instead my flight from abu dhabi departed in the afternoon at 2:20 pm which was layover of more than 6 hours.

                                                B) also, i didn't get the direct flight to delhi from abu dhabi. The flight etihad booked for me was from abu dhabi to mumbai, which was another hassle because i was not reaching to final destination and i reached in the evening in mumbai.

                                                C) and the layover at mumbai was again around 8 hours which was really tiring and hassle for me. I also got sick and suffered through stomach upsetting and was not able to reach office on monday 5th march.

                                                D) i couldn't get to sleep more than 40 hours which results missed my important family function on 4th march (Sunday), couldn't reached office on monday for important meeting as well and the physical & mental hassle. I had to take a leave on monday as well.

                                                I would like to request you to get the compensation. If you need any further details and action at my end, do let me know.

                                                  On 10th may 3 pm, i had flight from london to india from lhr, reached airport by 10.30am, asked us to wait 30 min, 1 hour no response, after i went to check informed flight is canceld, we will let u know till then enjoy with 10 pound voucher, get just small snack in london world's busiest airport, got to know flight rescheduled for 8.45 pm. Doing nothing just i have to wait, no lounge or any other service, after boarding 8.45 pm, reached abhudhabhi nxt connect flight to india wait again 8 hours.. Same breakfast vohchers.. Get small snack in airport... Airlines staff behaved very cheap.. I requested few hours lounge facilities... Asked me to pay and use.. Such a pathetic reckless answer, understood i traveld with cheap airline... Decided never ever travel such idiotic scoundrela airlines.. Pls it's so bad service. Staff they just no manners,

                                                    I have made booking for etihad air ticket and received following message from citrus :
                                                    Hello!

                                                    Transaction date & time: may 01, 2018 12:45:27 am

                                                    But after payment etihad website did not issue me ticket and say "sorry we could not complete your booking".
                                                    When contacted etihad airways they say payment has been struck but it will be done in 30 mins, but later next day when i called them etihad they say that ticket is cancelled they will refund amount and asked me to purchase another ticket.
                                                    Mean while i have contacted citrus payment and also complaint in consumer forum their reply as this below

                                                    It has been so many days but until now there is no response from etihad airways and their is no proof that i will get my money refunded there is only telephonic promise i will get back my money.

                                                      I had booked two return tickets from kochi to washington dc dullas (Iad) on 31/3/2018. On ward journey on 9th of may 18 and return journey on 9th of july, 18. The cost of tickets for two persons being rs. 1, 59, 794/- has been debited to my account with central bank of india, changanacherry, india, on 31st march itself. I have not so far received the confirmation of the tickets, or email message confirming the bookings, please look into the matter and clear the confusion at the earliest. I had tried to contact them on given telephone but the machine is not accepting my complaints nor is it transferring the cal to any human beings so i could air my grievances.

                                                          I flew by etihad airways ey1537 departing from helsinki at 14.10 pm on 7 january 2016 and travelling to pakistan lahore scheduled to be there at 13.50 pm on 8 january 2016. I suffered denied boarding, no meals or accommodation under regulation ec261/2004, and lost luggage at the end of my journey. I received property irregularity report at lahore and sent a claim to [protected]@etihad. Ae and [protected]@etihad. Ae back in january 2016. No compensation under ec 261/2004 for the delay and denied boarding or under montreal convention to pay for lost luggage and valuable items.

                                                          According to their own terms and conditions published on their website. I circle and underline the facts that myself and family are entitled to €600 euro per person, refund of travel tickets €1925 and out of pocket expenses which they did not provide. They include hotel accommodation, food, telephone calls etc. The receipts of these out of pocket expenses are available.

                                                          I look forward to a response from them but if they ignore my claim, i shall seek appropriate legal remedies available to me under regulation ec 261/2004 in the eu and under montreal convention in uae. Anybody knows where to file an airline complaint in the united arab emirates? Please inform.
