I'm also agreeing with the above comment. i used to take auto to my office from CBI because
there are no freqent buses to my office. Most of the auto's meter reading is wrong. Most of them
are taking 20 to 40 rs extra.Some of the auto meter shows Meter reading with the Kilometers.
They are working fine.if we tell them that their meter reading is wrong they abuse us.
I'm in bangalore since last 3 yrs. each day i have seen that this traffic police seize bike travelers
if they didn't wear helmet or for any other reason and making fine from them and for car also.
I never seen that they seize a benz, bmw like cars and auto drivers. they are fear to catch them.
may be these auto rickshaw 's owned by rich people or by gundas. if traffic police will check them once
in a while they will not do this to the common people. auto rickshaw drivers knew that they will not
caught by traffic police that's why they are threatening us. Even we are also fear to make a complaint at
ploice station.there is no use to argue with the drivers. they know how to handle us. so
we have no other option. we hope one day or the other traffic police will take action
against these people.if any one knows any online forum or email or phone number please mention so that we can make a complaint there.

I took an auto from madiwala to dell, inner ring road.
The meter reading said Rs.35.00 at the end of the ring road and in a minute it showed 50+ . I had no choice but to pay him as, this was the amount shown in the meter.
The auto number is KA05 B1149. There was no license plate displayed.

These auto people do not follow any rule. Even there meters are not set properly. They tempers their meters, which easily shows 1.5 times of the actual distance. I dont know whether this post will help me or not... But
there should be something which can make them follow the regulations.

I had an encounter with auto rickshaw i found out how people tamper it.After buttering & other auto drivers force i got the real picture of digital meters.
Most of the auto's have the earthing button(in their language) which when pressed moves the reading as fast as possible.Also when horn or indicator is used it moves the meter reading.Usually its present in the left side of drivers handle.
Proof:He moved 10 meters distance & pressing the earthing button moved the meter from 0.0 km to 2 km in within few seconds.This is used as required by them.
This tampering cost them just Rs 700.
Digital meter looks like brand new.
All the above things are said & shown me by a auto driver in bangalore.

Grievance against autorickshaw driver — changed much more than what finalized

Respected Sir,

I want to log a complaint against the autorickshaw (AP13X8269) driver. i boared the auto from road no 12, ot of La Belle center to road no 36(just 7.2 kms), jubliee hilss (to Pantaloons). We finalized in Rs 50 (Although it was much more than what would have come through meter). But after reaching there he deducted Rs 80(when i gave him Rs 100 note) saying that madam this is Madhapur, you have told me the wrong place, i would have taken the shortcut.
I argued with him too much and then he gave me Rs 10 more. I told him that i will log your complaint with the RTO but that seem to fall on deaf years.
Please Take some action in this regard since the nuisance of the auto walas in hyderabad in increasing day by day.

KA05 - 5498 auto meter faulty. I commute everyday from sahakarnagar to cv raman nagar. The meter in most autos and meru cab shows 18.5 km but this guys auto ended up with 23km !! And driver was driving slow and behaved like a raody. Tampered meter !! The state of auto drivers is getting pathetic by the day.

I am a resident of Bangalore city and born in Bangalore. I was in USA for 4 years but I permanently moved to India and my hometown of Bangalore. After coming here I recently took an Autorickshaw to Inner ring road near domlur to goto a Software company.

As soon as I board the Auto, the Driver asked me 20 rs extra. I said I will not pay any extra and I will take another auto. After debate, I succumbed to paying 10rs extra. Then the auto moved towards Residency road to fill CNG gas. I said that I needed to goto company and therefore I told the driver that I will get down here only. The meter reading was 56 rs . I paid the auto driver 60 rs and the driver said the usual "Change illah"...meaning you are ripped off.

As I tried to catch another auto from residency road, All the Auto wallahs who stopped were asking 80rs to goto inner ring road. 3-4 auto wallahs did the same thing.

I gave up and went back to the earlier Auto driver. He agree to continue my journey. After reaching the destination the meter reading showed 96 rs. He asked me to pay 20 rs EXTRA, I told him that we had earlier agreed for 10rs but he did not agree. Finally I paid him 120 rs for the meter.

Then he is forgetting that I had paid him 60 rs earlier!. He is telling that I did not pay him earlier. After fighting he agreed that ok I had paid him before and gave me the 60 rs back. Even then he was paying on 50 RS and keeping 1O rs for himself.

This is not the only case. All the autorickshaw I have encountered do the same thing. They steal money from innocent residents in BROAD DAYLIGHT.

If we argue then they start abusing or gang up and start beating us.

I say is this the way of behaviour in a civilized city?. Are we being abused for saving our money?.

PLEASE GOVT WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?, WHY DO WE GIVE VOTES FOR YOU.

PLEASE BAN THE AUTORICHSHAW in BANGALORE


The attitude of Auto Rickshaw

I totally agree with the above comments. Yesterday night ( 9 june 2010), I had boarded an auto - KA 05 D 726 from Springfield apartments in Sarjapur road. The driver had refused to put the meter and demanded 40 rupees for right away. He was not very familiar with the route. He agreed to come for 30 rupees and as the auto went for some 1.5 - 2 kms, he started shouting at me and said he needs extra money. I told him tat I am a regular commuter in this route and meter charge would come around 20 rupees. He then stopped the auto in a deserted place and started abusing me in kannada. he was also about to beat me wen one of my family friends came. Since I do not know kannada, I could not make out wgat he was telling..

What safety does women in bangalore have? If this is the case, how can we travel in autos alone?

I want to know what action is taken against such Gunda auto drivers.

Even after paying them extra money, they treat us as though they are doing a favour by dropping us and start threatening us to give more money.

I didn’t know dealing with auto rickshaw drivers was a nightmare for the most people in Bangalore. If you’re a woman then it’s worse. Recently, I came across a comment on Jaago Re! http://ow.ly/2268m that just fifteen years ago this wasn’t the situation. There were good drivers who would give a ride to pregnant women up to the hospital for free! And now they leave them stranded. India has changed for sure. Is it for good or bad—that’s hardly a guess.

I’ve reached a point o[censored]tter frustration with the level of antagonism, physical threats and mental abuse that I regularly face when dealing with Auto drivers. I’ve had situations where I’ve had an auto driver try to run me over because I refused to pay over the meter, and other situations where they have gathered in groups to physically intimidate me whilst slandering insults. They physically force you to pay what they ask by intimidation and threat of violence.

If anything is to come from this, we need to become united – we need to form a group who can be a voice of opposition against this injustice. Recently I approached the Automation Enforcement Centre who gave me quite a bit of background into this issue. They explained to me that more than often the police are rendered helpless, because if they arrest an auto driver, the Auto Union immediately lands on the doorsteps of the Human Rights Commission, imploring that they are being unfairly treated. When such circumstances come up, the Auto Union gets their way because there is absolutely NO VOICE OF OPPOSITION. No voice of the people to notify the Human Rights Commission of the aggression and intimidation of Auto Drivers that we face regularly.

If there is a group of people as well organized as the Auto Union is, they wouldn’t have been able to get away with so much antagonism. After seeing the number of alarms raised on ‘Ipaidabribe’ by those who are explicitly offended by the state of Bangalore’s Auto menace, I am proposing that we form exactly the kind of group that can approach the Human Rights Commission to give them the other side of the story and empower the police where auto drivers are concerned.

The Automation Enforcement Centre further informed me that for issues regarding asking for more than the meter, or taking unnecessarily long routes, if we note down the license number of the auto and submit it to the AEC, they do take action. The first time, they penalize the driver 100 Rs. On the second offense, they penalize by double, and double again on the third. By the forth offense they can be penalized 800 Rs and so forth. This system can work IF we put it to use, but more than that, if we put pressure on the Traffic Police to enforce there laws.

That being said, any form o[censored]nwarranted aggression, rudeness, slandering, physical intimidation is a human rights issue and needs to be taken up with the Police and the Human Rights Commission.
I propose that we approach the Human Rights Commission as a united voice regarding this issue, and further discuss how else we can remove the unfair power the Auto Union is exercising to carry out an antagonistic form of transportation.

I am also one of the sufferers of the same thing. The great Auto Rickshaw problem… I found the below email addresses from a government website for Autorickshaw complaints. I think all o[censored]s need to send multiple emails, flooding them with these emails might make them understand the criticality of it.

Today 25 December 2010 We were travelling from commercial street to BTM layout 2nd stage generally it takes Rs 80 but this auto initially asked for Rs 10 extra over the auto when we disagreed he said its ok and get in. When we reached dairy circle it was already Rs 80. So, when we asked him he said" you can get down here if you want to but the meter is working fine. By the time we reached home it was Rs 130. When i clicked his photograph and of the name plate he ran away from that place without taking the entire amount. The details of the auto are No is KA 41 6454, Name is Nagendra, DL no 7178/05 badge no 927/05.
Hope somebody will take action for these tampered auto walas.

Today i was travelling from Jayanagar 5th Block to South End Circle and after reaching to destination i can see Meter says 25 Rs instead of 20Rs. This is the amount i am paying everyday to Auto walas due to everydays commute. He has Faulty meter.

Today I was travelling from Domlur to HSR layout with my aged parents. We took the auto no KA-02 4900. At First, he took the longer route and after indicating his wrong turns he started behaving rudely.
He stopped at one of the lonely place and forced us to get down.We told him that we will get down at our place only but all along the way he kept on shouting. He also misbehaved with my parents and used foul langauges. Being a lady and encountering this type of incident first time shooked me from within. He told that this is my palce and we rule in bangalore. You people belong to north india and not required here. We paid the full fare but still his barkings did not stop.

I dont understand who is he, to tell like this and this kind of incidents will lead to division amongst people.
This kind of auto walas should be banned and thier driving license barred then only we can have a better Bangalooro to show to other peoples.

This set a very bad example infront of my parents who came here for tirth yatra and will have a very negative impression of our lively city Bangalooro.

Please take strict against this auto wala. His auto rickshaw no is KA-02 4900, driver name is Riyaz Pasha, DL no is 3420/90.

Is any action being taken against these complaints here???Coz I travel long distance by autos in bangalore everyday, and I encounter these kinds of issues with these rude/cheat drivers almost on a daily basis... Want to know if these complaints are being really looked into... so that I can start registering the License and vehicle nos.. from now on and update here.. else, it wud be just a waste of time.

auto rickshaw driver misbehavior — misconduct

i everyday travel from swargate to nalstop to my office through share autorikshaw.
today when i asked autorikshaw driver whether he is going to nal stop, he said yes and asked me to sit with 3 more other females but when mhatre pool finished at signal he started taking left turn which was away from my stop. i very politely asked him that he said he will go from nal stop to which he responded very violently and started abusing me on the road and said cant you walk your own and created scene at the signal.
i have always observed this behaviour of autorikshaw driver when a passenger is outsider and today i also faced same thing.
this type of behaviour is very common in maharashtra , i think legal authorities must do somehting to resolve such issues.

not only that when i was taking his number he said everyday so many people take but that doesnot matter to him.
this statement itself is alarming to take actions against him, they consider such things for granted and think no such actions will be taken.
