[Resolved]  Chevrolet Cruze — Clutch complaint

Address:Ernakulam, Kerala

Hello Sir, My name is Padmanabhan and I am the owner of an Chevrolet Cruze(KL-7-BR-1892). I had bought this from the Chevrolet Cochin dealership and the miles on the car is approximately 10,000Km. A couple of days back there was a mechanical problem and I was not able to shift gears on the car. I had to call a pickup and transport the car to your service station near maradu in cochin. Upon inspection I was informed that the car's clutch has worn out and needs to be replaced and would cost me around Rs 25,000. This is not only absurd but it picks on my intelligence too when the person tells me that the possible reason could be that the car may have be driven at half clutch. I have several other cars from Honda, Ford etc and none of them have given me this problem till date and all are around 90,000 -1,20,000 Km's. How can a clutch wear out at 10,000 Km's? What credibility does your company have if the customer has to replace the clutch every 10,000km by paying Rs 25,000? This is my first foray into buying an american car and I am totally disappointed. I had problems while purchasing the car too and had to follow up, send emails to get delivery of the car 1 month after the committed date - so you can imagine my frustration. I would like to register a formal complaint with Chevrolet and will definitely post and pursue this problem in all chevrolet public forums if the company does not address and resolve this problem. Please do update me on this ASAP. A very irate customer, Padmanabhan V Mobile - +91 [protected]

Dear Padmanabhan ji,

how unfortunate to see that a big company like GM is using cheap stuff in its high end cars. Im vinay from Maharashtra, Nagpur. and i have been facing such problems from the second month of purchase of my cruze ltz...my family owns 7 cars all of different brands, this is my 8th personal car in last 17 years. and i feel so frustrated that every second month there is one or the other problem coming up..
first the audio system started messing up.. then there was a pungent smell from the AC, then the steering wheel wobbling problem ...then the defective tires problem...then self start making noise...then the battery draining problem ...and now finally when my car is just 28000 km driven im hearing a typical noise while pressing the clutch and the dealer is saying the flywheel has to be replaced and due to that even the clutch shall have to be replaced...the flywheel is costing 35000/- INR while the clutch fitting and parts would come up to 21000/- and it would take at least 10 days time...

until now all my previous problems are still not resolved and now i have a new one on my head...god knows what kind of quality checks the GM people are having...

we all need to strongly raise these issues as one...otherwise we will be only taken for ride...

regards..

vinay
Hi ... my name is Rantej.I am based in Gurgaon and I got the same problem with the Clutch today for my Cruze. The dealership (Aravali Motors in Gurgaon) has said that it will cost Rs 68, 000 to change the entire clutch pair. This is ridiculous. Did you guys get a resolution from the company or did you have to dish out the full amount to the dealership for the clutch repair?

If anyone from Chevrolet is also reading this then can you advise me on rantej.[protected]@rmlglobal.com or [protected].

regards,
Rantej
Rantej, if your car is under warranty, grab the company, if it is just out of warranty.. still grab the company..

This is all a play of sub standard machinery..

Here is my experience with the Cruze and Chevrolet.

I bought the Chevrolet Cruze in 2010 November from Apex Auto in Gurgaon, ever since this car had some problem or the other. First the car used to run out of alignment every few kilometers (not even a 1000 KM), expecially when my run was only on the highway. After alot of discussions and meetups with the key people at Chevrolet HO in Gurgaon (Mr. Sudhir Malhotra, Yudhveer Singh and others), the cars tyres were changed and when that also did not yield into a positive result the car was picked and taken away for fixing by Chevy team. After a short while I shifted to Mumbai in 2011, the car has since been serviced at Ashtavinayak Auto here in Goregaon.

In 2011, the car started giving another funny problem, the clutch used to get stuck and would not get released fully. Again a series of trips started to the service station, this issue went on for over 4 months, with the different solutions being tried, finally the team decided to change the assembly of the clutch along with the pressure plates, etc. The work was done, the car was doing fine and then the shockers decided to go off (first the rear and then the front). The moment this ordeal got over, the clutch started playing up again and then finally the car was left with a burnt clutch plates.

The last incident happened just outside the warranty of the car, While the workshop guys were helpful, I had to cough up about 25K to get the clutch fixed as the rest was being compensated by Chevrolet.

Just when I sat back and thought ok, now there wont be any problems, the car battery knocked out on me (because the service station never checked for the water levels in the battery during regular servicing and one of the cells ran dry). The moment the battery was replaced the car fuel pump has knocked out and now am sitting wondering what to do, as the cost of replacing the fuel pump is about 40K. Including the money spent in last two months on the car and the recent estimate of the Fuel Pump, I will be sitting at a spend of Rs. 80K on this car.

All this has happened when the car has clocked less than 55K KMS, is less than 4 years old and has only been serviced at the Chevrolet Workshops and no outside mechanic has touched the car for any mechanical repairs.

While the car runs well, has a good grip, these multiple trips to the workshop are painful and cost a lot of financial loss. I am a little surprised that the car has spent more time at the service station, than in my hands and still there are so many issues with this car.
Hello Sir,

My name is Tanuj Madaan and I am the owner of an Chevrolet Cruze (HR 26 BB 6181). Every year our organization Apollo Tyres bought number of Cars for employees mainly Cruze Chevrolet, Audi Q3 and Toyota Fortuner etc. based on employee desire.

I think I have done big mistake by selected Cruze Chevrolet. Why - reason for same is given below:

At 29000 KM there was a mechanical problem and I was not able to shift gears on the car. I had to call a pickup and transport the car to your service station Regent Automobiles Faridabad.

Upon inspection I was informed that the car's clutch has worn out and needs to be replaced and would cost me around Rs 26, 000.

This is not only absurd but it picks on my intelligence too when the person tells me that the possible reason could be that the car may have be driven at half clutch. I have several other cars from Maruti and Honda and none of them have given me this problem till date and all are around 50, 000 -1, 00, 000 Km's.

I have replaced complete clutch plate set based upon their recommendation. At 38000 KM again had same mechanical problem and same response from your service station.

How can a clutch wear out at 9, 000 Km's? What credibility does your company have if the customer has to replace the clutch every 10, 000km by paying Rs 25, 000?

This is my first foray into buying an American car and I am totally disappointed.

I had problems while service too - Service person had forget to tighten the Bolts on which entire refrigeration system kept and thanks to God just missed to have big accidental loss.

Complaint sent to Area Manager and response came sorry 4 years passed we can't change. Even the Service person has not come to look what is the problem. Why it is happening again and again now you can imagine my frustration.

I would like to register a formal complaint with Chevrolet and will definitely post and pursue this problem in all Chevrolet public forums and with whole Apollo tyres Group if the company does not address and resolve this problem.

Please do update me on this ASAP. Tanuj Madaan Mobile - +91 [protected]

Please also register a formal complaint against the Regent Automobiles Faridabad - Every time during maintenance they damage some part. they are money minded guys and try to make customer foolish. They will say we wan't to help but look at the response from Chevrolet they don't want . They prefer not to go for Chevrolet car's.

I am not hesitate to say they are Immature people and creating bad image of Chevrolet group itself.
Hello,

I bought my Cruze in 2012 and honestly my first year was really good. No big problems. But last year May 2014, clutch plate is worn out. Clocked about 35000 kms. I was told that the cost of the Flywheel will be borne by the company and I had to pay 25 K for the clutch plate.

July 2015, Clutch plate is again gone ! It just did about 9000 kms after the clutch is replaced in May 2014. Same story repeats. Flywheel will be replaced on goodwill and I am supposed to pay for the clutch. WTF !

My car went into the Trident Chevrolet service center and I called up the GM customer care number[protected] and lodged a complaint on July 17th regarding the second replacement of the clutch. They made a note of my complaint and gave me a complaint number[protected]. They said it will take 48 working hours to get back to me, in other words 6 days. I call back on July 29 to the customer care number (car is still in the service center, 12 days up, still no resolution) and I was told that the complaint number had been cancelled ! Reason being that it was a system technical error ! again WTF !.. So no complaint was ever noted and no one from Chevrolet has even spoken to the service station. They gave me a complaint number now and said it would take another 48 "working hours, ie 6 days". I spoke to the complaint team member Mr. Anupam who tells me that the car is registered in the name of someone else ! Beat that !!

I am now suspecting that there is some mischief with the lower quality parts and products offered by GM.

Nice car to drive, too many problems, and the service is horrible and it gets worse with the customer care team at GM team sitting in Delhi. So my true advise, avoid this pain in the car !
