[Resolved]  Credit Card — Non-issuance of 'NO DUES CERTIFICATE' even after settlement

My name is Milind Varadkar having credit card no- [protected]. I have settled my Credit Card Account on 12th February 2007 and have also got the settlement letter for the same. My concern is that I require a No Dues Certificate for the Card Account I settled, for which I called up the Customer Service department of HSBC Bank several times in the past few days. They always direct me to the Collections department at Umang Bldg., Intelenet Tower -2, Link Road, Goregaon [West], Mumbai. I have been visiting thje office since last five days without any response. I have met Mr. Suketu [Manager Closed Card Dept.] and Mr. Nilesh [Assit. Manager Closed Card Dept.]. These guys were pathetic in behaviour and very un-cooperative. I need the letter at the earliest. I have already received similar letters from ICICI Bank Ltd. and SBI. They are trying to tell me that this is against the rules and regulations set by RBI. But ICICI bank and SBI bank who follow the same rules of RBI have already issued me the same letter. So, is HSBC an exceptional bank who cannot do the same?

I would also like to inform you that my wife Mrs. Madhuri Varadkar holding Credit Card no-[protected] had settled her card account with HSBC on 21st December 2006 and also received a "NO DUES CERTIFICATE" for the same on 7th September 2007. If a No Due certificate was issued to card which was settled on 31st December 2006 then my card account was settled on 12th February 2007 i.e., just 2 months later, then why can't I get a No Due Certificate for the same?

I have got a job with TCS Eserve international, the Call center located at Goregaon [East] and they are demanding for the No Due Certificate. Without the No Due Certificate from HSBC Bank I cannot join the company. Being unemployed would ruin my career and my family. So it is the question of my survival. That is the reason I am going and will go to any extent to get the No Dues Certificate from HSBC Bank.

Please see what can be done at the earliest.

Thanks and Regards,
Milind Varadkar
