This is very sad:( I have met an amazing man from Bangalore, and was simply searching the net for any info on his state or downloads of the kannada language, and I find all this trash talking! Against your own people! I am a "westerner" from Florida but I would never criticize someone for being from Rhode Island, Oregon or Alabama. I have not yet been to Bangalore but when I arrive I hope to find honest and friendly people, locals and otherwise.

6 jayaram avenue — showing too much usage
Sir, this month we received the bill for broadband Rs.1596/- dated 10/11/09. we do not understand because we didn't use broadband that much. please help us to understand. After living for 15 years in Bangalore and calling it my home it saddened me recently to be called an outsider and assaulted for objecting to a biker coming on the wrong side of the road and scratching my car.
A crowd of 20-30 gathered in support of the biker. Their claim "we are locals, this is our road, we will do what we want, you outsiders with your big cars get out".
This is the 3rd such incident in the past 3 years. And I am beginning to think that I might as well begin behaving like an outsider, organise a anti-kannadiga vigilantes group which can actually field 100-200 non-kannadigas to take on the locals in every locality. Simultaneously begin a movement among my peers (CEOs/VPs etc) for surreptitiously denying jobs to kannadigas and consciously staying away from kannadiga vendors. That should hurt them the most

Agree completely. I have been a Bangalorean for 15 yrs now and now call it my home. 5 yrs back I would not have advocated this. But recent attitudes of Kannadigas (including the handful of educated ones) forces me to advocate the formation of Non-Kannadiga protection groups. Lets hope it never has to boil down to open confrontations where Kannadigas are actually denied jobs (by design) and forced out of Bangalore. But it will happen if they do not learn that this is India and they do not have the political clout or the sheer majority in numbers to defy that (in Bangalore City)
Golden Temple bus service — forced to get out of the bus without any reason
I was forced to get out of the bus ( Moga to Talwara ) at Dasuya bus stand giving the reason that i have travelled in some other bus & not in their's from Jallandar to dasuya. I am baffled by several of the postings and agree with Nithin. As an Indian I can stay anywhere I want and apply for any job I want. If Kannadigas feel others are taking jobs, maybe they need to bee[censored]p their qualifications and skills and become competitive. Can you imagine in New York or Florida, a person from California being denied a job? With the prevailing attitudes, it is a miracle India is still one country. Languages change with time too. Look at Mumbai---Mumbai hindi (difficult for north indian to follow) is the lingua franca---not urdu or Marathi. Likewise, if Bangalore is become cosmopolitant, such change should be welcomed and not lead to kannada fanaticism. It is part of evolution of languages. As for auto drivers, they are crooks all over India. Half of them are ownded by politicians which is why cops don't do anything. Go to Germany and you can get into any cab, speak no German and still be assured that you will reach your destination by the quickest route. EVen as a kannada speaker I can't say that for Bangalore. I also speaker Tamil and Hindi but auto drivers try to cheat me in Chennai and delhi. Let's work on improvig the system and not get carried away with regional fanaticism which has already divided India.
Whoever started this topic- Dude, it's your extreme luck that we haven't kicked you out and Northies like you from our city yet. We, the Kannadigas are fed up. Why the hell you want to live in Bangalore when you've so many cities to choose from?

Am a tamil guy stayin in bangalore for 2 years now.. Every state(Including Chennai my home city) has the money plucking crowd, be it the auto, the property rents, ..etc.. Once u get to know little about the city, there is no problem either with the city or the people... Kannadigas are as good as tamilans. We are the dravidians...!!!

ITs really disgusting to hear bad things about people in bangalore... One of the main reason for growth of bangalore is because of large heartedness of kannadigas . We treat people from other states really well... We try to learn their language to make them feel comfortable . But even after that if there are complaints, , , how can u expect us to react .I[censored] dont beleive in me, , , just check in google ..only 35% of people in bangalore speak kannada ... I[censored] go to chennai ... THey will make you learn tamil ... just dont say whatever you wnt

Whereever we go and live be it in any state of India or Abroad, there are some unforseen moments due to narrow minded people and due to discrimination of language, geographic location, racism, caste, creed etc.But at the same time there are many good persons who must be neutral around you and you would have experienced some good moments because of these people.
People from different socio economic background behave differently because of so many reasons including poverty. Only educated people should cultivate good things in society and responsible for a good, matured india.
Please dont crib about bad people or situations, create opportunities.After all we are living in the same country.

Ho ho, what a joke u hv written. I have never seen any south Indian being jealous of North Indians. Its north people who suffer from an inferiority complex, mainly because ppl in South are better educated, southerners are more civilized, there is less crime, rape etc in south, southreners are naturally good at being multi-lingual, girls are safer here, people are not spitting ghutka-pan etc on road as they do in north...
The people from north find Bangalore to be a safe n happy place which they usually try to take advantage of. If any northie really had such a problem, there wud nt have been so many of them dwellin here.

All those ppl came here only cos there was already an opportunity here for them to make a living. If Kannada is to be agitated against in Karnataka's own capital, then where else shud Kannada be used? Shud ppl who have been following the culture handed down to them by their ancestors for several thousand years be let go just to make way for ppl who do not care for any thing tht has to do with Kannada or Karnataka or Bangalore? Why then did we all Indians hv hd to fight for independence from the British? Kannadigas are to fight to keep alive our culture and our language in our own state and our own capital city? Kannadigas have as much right to Bangalore as much as any other Indian. If its not wrong on part of a northie to be dis-respecting the local culture, not learning Kannada even after being in Bangalore for 2-3 years, then its not wrong on Part of Kannadigas to fight against this. Every one knows that agression starts only when there is an imbalance.

Thought of joining these people by transferring amount from my account.. but later to confirm I searched in google regarding this.. and saw plenty of complaints.. how these people are.. they do what ever they want for the sake of money and cheat the people as they wish. Wish someone one to take action on this.. it would be better. you know.. u guys are doing everything on the name o[censored]r culture... but the fact is not culture, this is narrowmindedness, which u hv termed as culture.. u guys jus know to flaunt ur wealth.. evn going to temple in flashiest of clothes, as if god wl b happy after seeing ur golden clothes :-D.. you go by local buses or go to market, u wont get ppl smiling only.. no one is happy here... moreover not big hearted... Even if they r asked to spend a hundred rupee, they will start cribbing... This city is live n happening, jus cos of north indians... who atleast go to restaurants, discos and eats everything, not just rice al the time..
hey radha, u seem to have a very distorted image about ppl here... i ll only say go see the city, but before tht learn kannada. I hv seen north too, ppl there are very flashy, always with make-up even if their houses are dirty. people here wear gold to temples cos they are not scared tht someone might steal it. (in north it is very scary to wear gold as some one might just cut ur throat to grab ur gold), its very much Indian culture to wear gold. there is nothin wrong in tht. If as u say ppl here were narrow minded, u wud nt hv been able to survive here for this long. n those who are not smiling on roads are not true Bangaloreans, city has had too many ppl from outside who are rude and loud. Bangloreans (the true ones) are known for their courteousness, their well civilized manner.

U r nt contributing in any way by this to city or to India... Any ways norties came here like othr state ppl only cos they saw they cud get job here, which they were nt able to in their own city/town/village. I have come to Bangalore around 4 months back and people here are real good in terms of their behaviour or their approach. The only problem is with third grade people or so called third class people, I am sorry if I am offending anybody`s sentiment.
There is a reason to say this, assuming there are 100% population of karnataka, there are about 40% of the people who are Rich, Upper middle class, middle class and lower income group. Beyond lower income group people who are about 60% have a major problem, they have no courteousy for anyone nor any basic ethics, they take Non Bengalorans for granted starting from Auto fellow, bus drivers, jokers travelling on bike who are again from this hopeless category of people think its their place we have no rights to stay here, there are many people who say you should speak in Kannada how does one learn in a day and too, while we love to speak their language so that we get saved from this jokers but still.. there is time for everything.
We work for IT companies or any company and giving growth to karnataka in the form of taxes and that money is used by Government for developing the infrastructure... when will the people understand that we are one.. I was beaten by one the localites when i shouted at him after he hitting my car. The traffic police was seating idle and watching, when asked for help.. he started speaking to me in Kannada and later spoke very good english and said to go as they have to clear the traffic.
We feel the city is not secured for anybody`s life, we come here for livelihood and no body has rights to ask us to leave this place. Just imagine what would have been your life if we learn Kannada... then can you compete with us, they will shut their mouth and .
If any of the police personnel happens to read this or any news editor then please have one complaint or helpline for Non-Bengalorans, we are human beings first and later are the state and region.
