I completely disagree with the ranjan statement. Just because of an auto driver u cannot come to conclusion that people in karnataka are not generous. from your words i can eaily make out that you are not from Karnataka. by seeing your above statements i feel pitty on you.if you know so much about other states like tamilnadu and kerala then y don you ever try speaking in Hindi with them.at least you must thank karnataka auto guys u atleast charge according to meeter. fine you told that here all will speak in kannada only. yes they do ... i dont understand what bothers you.this is the region which is ment for kannadigas. i have seen many of my north indian friends beeing very much satisified with this region culture and people. but u face so much of problem then y dont u guys go out from this state . this is because you dont have other choiceand also you dont want to go. . if the people of karnataka rejected the it. then it would have never grown in this way. you must bne thank full the the people of karnataka like narayana murthy and ajim premji who acctually created job oppurtunity's in this place with out limmiting it for kanadigas. you north indians always have a complain about others. have u ever look back to your state status. which lags in minimum requirements. and ya dont never ever think beacuse of your guys the job oppurtunity is getting created in karnataka. if you guys have so much capacity y dont you try doing it in your state.

i just want to say that we shud never generalise our opinion on one person to every one,
people who behave rudely as well as kindly are there in every place, the only thing is the person who started this hatred topic might have experienced only people of first category.

I had a bad experience in bus today. Two men were sitting on Ladies seat and were asked to get up.
They started laughing n saying y should v get up etc. After some he started shouting that you people are in bangalore and should speak in kannada. bangalore is only for kannada speaking people.etc etc.
A kannada lady sitting beside him told this guy in SC/ST and if he complains all you guyz will be put in jail for 10-15 years and will not get bail also.Conductor was just sitting quiet. That men even threatened that I know someone in Vijay karnataka newspaper and get your photo published.Worst experience in past 12 years.

Govt should have a helpline where anyone can call if they are victim of racism.

Its amazing! Somebody asks you to learn the local language, and you bring in God, where he was born, etc. Also don't forget the Rishis were from all over India, even though they had sanskrit names.

STOP STOP STOP PLEASE YOU GUYS!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! I am not a NORTH INDIAN or a SOUTH INDIAN. I will say myself as an Indian though my mother tongue is BENGALI. Its really a matter of shame to all the people(except for the neutral ones) for posting such a nasty judgements towards each other whether kannadigas or non-kannadigas. First of all I am neither with the support of outsiders nor with the localites but with those neutral people trying to balance the situation. OUSIDERS:
1. Try to respect the local culture'
2. Bangalore has given you a job as well as better livelihood so treat this as your motherland.
3. Don't limit your opinion just because of these autowallas and bus conductors because you will find this in every place.
4. Ignore the few barking dogs and try to make frnship with good people and you are mature enough to decide.
5. There is no harm in knowing the local language since it won't cost you anything but will add to your multilingual personality.

LOCAL KANNADIGAS:
1. Try to mingle up with people from all over India.
2. Outsiders along with the localites have contributed a lot to the development of this city.
3. Encourage outsiders in knowing the local lamguage instead of imposing to them.
4. Try to educate the uneducated fools since just because of few miscreants others shouldn't get a bad name.
5. SInce I have told to outsiders to learn local language, likewise I am telling to you too to leran Hindi because it will add to your multilingual personality to you too.

COMMON TO BOTH:
1. Bangalore is a beautiful city and let it be beautiful.
2. Please don't create any kind of communal disharmony and don't let others to do that.
3. Every language is beautiful in its own way and shouldn't be shown any disrespect.

I request to all kannadigas as well as Non-Kannadigas. First be an INDIAN. And i[censored] consider yourself as a true Bangalorean than don't beahve like a barking dogs. My msg to Mr Nihar Ranjan Dalai is that don't generalise your thinking by just experiencing with few people. I fact I have more favourable experience than bad experience which signifies that you will find both good as well as bad people everywhere in this world. For your kind information Bangalore is a very pleasant place to live in. I am here since past two years and now its just like my second home. Ya auto-drivers are cheaters but even Kannadigas have to face them. Instead of commenting here you would have better loged a complaint against them. And regarding a behaviour of Kannadiga people, I must say that those who are Kannadiga by heart are very decent. Not like those barking dogs like GIRISH here. So my suggestion is that stay away from these people and make friendship only with the decent ones. And these people like GIRISH here who are using slang words better don't attribute yourself as Kannadiga and a Bangalorean as well. Because one need not be a Kannadiga to be a Bangalorean but to be civilised and decent. In other words all Kannadigas need not be a Bangalorean but all decent people staying in Bangalore are bangalorean in true sense. I too have Kannadiga friends and I used to enjoy their friends circle. In fact now i can atleast read kannada and trying to develop fluency in that. I have watched some of the old Kannada movies and came to know the real beauty of this language which is as beautiful as a Bengali language. And all those Kannadigas who really love their mother tongue, a humble request to them that instead of imposing your language to others, try to encourage them to learn this language and show them the real beauty of your language. And be a decent Kannadiga. Please don't use slang words like an . In the roadside if some incident happens support those who are right and not just be a Kannadiga supporter. And you people too learn Hindi language because it will help you a lot if you go to North India. At last all the citizens of Bangalore, be a true Bangalorean and spare time in thinking about how to make this city a better place to live in. This city is for all whether Kannadigas or Non-Kannadigas. And those who have any problem with this city better get lost from here instead of making hole on the same plate in which you are eating. Bangalore is a beautiful city and let it be beautiful. I really love this city a lot. So a humble request to all that don't pass any nasty judgements about this place.

um..its very simple all you dumasses. If a person has a bad experience in a place because of the locals' fault or his own dumbness or just sheer bad luck, he will dislike it. Period. And he will think that everyone must be the same in the particular place and generalizes. And locals think its their duty to defend their territory if someone attacks it. Nobody is wrong in such a situation. But there's always better ways to say things and discuss them like matured individuals which sadly is not happening. And btw, Sumana FYI i'm not a Hyderabad resident, but i know for a fact that almost everyone there speaks Hindi- not saying they're awesome but that's how it is because of the city's Muslim leadership in the past. ADVICE : Not all languages you don't understand in Bangalore is Kannada!

Funny! The first question for anyone is, in a city like Bangalore. How will u even know a person belongs to which language? Bangaloreans speak so many languages, they might have been speaking with friends in respective languages! How can you judge? You guys want to fight over silly things and internet is a free platform! So you guys fight.

This is what I think over south scenario,

I have travelled over many cities in India. I feel Tamil Nadu and Kerala to be a little to arrogantly patriotic! To a level Kerala people are friendly. They don't care about others, especially people in TN. Many are uneducated and innocent in tamil nadu and few are highly educated. They are taken into this immense trance state by the crazy tamil outfits and politicians. They believe that language is million years old :P I was just wondering if humans existed then. Tamils under control of British as their laborers spread over all places in world including many places in south india. Then their innocence + crazy patriotism + madness about films, etc made them a little bit different from others.

Now, every state in India is feeling a little insecure about their own culture, the success of culture preservation in tamil nadu has become a model and all state in south like Karnataka, Andra and Kerala is following that arrogant approach! The same is spreading to north.

All states in India teach Hindi in schools, except Tamil Nadu. In chennai, you get no TV channels except tamil channels and few telugu channels. Hindi, Kannada and even many English channels are not available with standard cable and blocked!

In that way, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc are way too better.

PS : This is my opinion and is not intended to look down upon anyone or any culture. I respect all cultures.

Why do you see more people settling in bangalore? That is because there stay here is nice, comfortable. people of karnataka are the once who accept people from other states easily. If bangalore does not accept outside people, other state people would not consider bangalore as there home. People saying that bangalore, kannadigas as rude, i do not agree with them. So many IT poople have got a decent place to live that is bangalore .

@Honey: If you do not give up your mentality you will be kicked out from any place in INDIA wherever you go even from Kolkata(the city free of any communalism). Far from proving a point, your words have only proved your acerbic and irrational loathing. Pls understand - EVERY INDIAN CITIZEN HAS THE RIGHT TO LEAD PEACEFUL AND LAW ABIDING LIVES ANYWHERE IN THE UNION OF INDIA. Vengeful attitudes can and will not serve any purpose. I am from East India and I love and respect Kannadiga culture. I understand the greatness of Kempegowda and the significance of Kannada Rajyotsava. I had many great Kannadiga batch-mates during my training in the Indian Army. But at the same time, I feel greatly disappointed that fellow citizens like you are disrespecting this great nation. India's success lies in the unity of it's states, you and your regionalist ideals will not stand a chance. Pls understand, to earn respect you have to give respect.

Coming to your rant about EVERY IT leader being a South Indian, tell me, dear fellow country-man, are all decision making staff in top IT companies from the South only? Do you really believe that? What prompted you to come to this conclusion? Also, pls understand - Economy does not mean the IT industry alone. Have you forgotten manufacturing? Are decision makers there South Indians only? Is everything good in the country attributable to South Indians only and everything bad associated with North Indians only? Again, going by your logic, every industry, from banking to real estate, transportation and foreign trade, all have South Indians ONLY at the helm. How mistaken you could be.

There are bad elements among North Indians alright, but tainting EVERY North Indian with the same brush for the crimes of a few is a bit too much. Pls learn to be pragmatic. Racist, regionalistic and narrow minded ideals will get you nowhere. In the years when I operated in conflict ridden and troubled areas like Kashmir and the North East, language and statehood leanings would be the last thing on the minds of my Kannadiga colleagues and unit staff. We'd all celebrate as one any great news and shed a tear as one for our fallen brothers. I feel sad that the principle of India which we have sworn to protect with our lives is under threat by the very own people whom we consider as our own. We first need to slay the enemy within, the external would be handled automatically.

Pls learn to be Indian first, all else comes a distant second. For all it's ills and corruption, the fact that the Union of India marches on is an enviable thing. Not sure how many countries could have carried on like this. But in that we prove our resilience, we prove our perseverance. before comment on any city first get to know it past, the areas which i mentioned in the begging (Malleshwaram, Vijaynagar etc) these places were under the rule of Mysore Dynasty before Independence but the places which you migrated people are living was under the control British government. so most of the people came to the places which was under the rule mysore dynasty.
due to this mass migration British people couldn't find working class people so they brought Tamil & Telugu people over to this places as 3rd class Low grade working wage people (where ever british go they took tamil people with them for working & construction because they don't question the rule, all they wanted is food & money. so is the reason you can see tamil people in british colonies such as Singapore, Mauritius, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda, Kenya, West indies, Srilanka, Seychelles, Malaysia are few to name).
the people now living in your places are descended of their race and there behavior also came in genes.
