[Resolved]  Reliance Digital — Deceitful dealings/procedures and appalling service

On 29-Dec-2007, my wife and I recently visited Reliance Digital on Cunningham Road Bangalore, to purchase a LCD Television. We decided to buy a LG 32’’ (model: 32LC4R; offered price: 43,990/-) on part payment and were taken to the finance department to acquire the details of the payment.

We were told that we had to pay the EMIs through post-dated cheques and this option (i.e. Reliance Finance) involves a cost of 1250/- as ‘processing fee’. We enquired about the ECS option but were told that it is not functional yet.

On 31-Dec-2007 (the ‘spot finance’ advertisement is definitely misleading, because this procedure takes its own time), after we received a call stating that the loan has been approved, we went with the required documents (photo ID proof, address proof etc) to make the payment. This is where the misery began – This ordeal took 5 hours!

-- The finance department had apparently not disclosed to us all the available options of payment. We were not told about the ‘credit card – EMI’ option. We overheard the details of this option while it was being explained to another customer. If the payment is made through credit card, the interest would amount to Rs 800/-, which is less, compared to the Reliance Finance processing fee. On questioning, the finance staff told us that the ‘credit card- EMI’ option was launched on just that day while their ‘senior’ staff contradicts this by saying that it was available since 3 days! Why were we not given all the facts to make an informed choice? We needn’t have to make a second trip with the documents, had we known that we could pay through credit card.
-- However, we decided to pay through credit card. The finance staff now takes a photocopy of both sides of the credit card and claims that it is ‘their procedure’. Isn’t it a known fact that the Verification Value Code (CVV number) printed behind a credit card is a confidential number and is an anti-fraud measure? Why do you have ignorant and untrained staff dealing with grave responsibilities (such as finance) here? We soon had another staff member contradicting his peer stating that the photocopy was not required. What if the CVV numbers were acquired from other naïve customers?
-- The credit card swiping instrument went conked. We were with a variety of disinterested individuals, who lacked seriousness and commitment in what they were doing - They wasted 2 hours of our time trying to get the credit card swiping machine work and it didn’t, eventually. Does the mega store have no fix or alternative in such situations?
-- Finally, we paid through post-dated cheques and had the additional charges[protected] waived off after enough argument. Why should a customer be taxed for the store’s mismanagement, failure, and inadequacy?
-- We were told that we need to pay (during installation) for the clamps/brackets that are required for mounting the TV. They told us that the Reliance personnel would bring the required material for mounting the TV and that would cost us an additional 1500! We were skeptical about this, and on the next day found out from the LG corporate sales office that the brackets come along with the TV as accessories. This is also documented in the product manual that is available on LG’s website. On speaking with Reliance, we were told that there was a ‘small’ miscommunication. We wouldn’t be surprised if they would make us pay for that too, eventually!
-- To add to that, the staff is rude, irritatingly incompetent, and an infuriatingly unhelpful bunch. Even the seniors were not helpful. There is absolutely no co-ordination among the staff and each one misleads the customer. The place is a chaotic enterprise managed by un-resourceful personnel.
Shopping at Reliance Digital was a disgusting, trying, and draining experience. We wasted 5 hours on New Year’s Eve dealing with this nuisance and it has definitely left us bitter. We are expecting the product today – after all the torture and struggle.

We do not rely on Reliance for any post sale service after getting a taste of the pre sale service. Reliance Digital has attempted to dupe us and has tortured us!

Dear Customer Care,

We bought a Sony LED 40" from Reliance Digital kormangala, Bangalore on 20/07/2012.

Next day 2 person(Sonu [protected]) came for installation and demo. They tried to fix the TV stand but some how they didnt fixed it.

It was informed by executive that they dont have stock of that particular model so they will deliver it within 15 days.
Despite of some other engagements we decided to stay back and wait for 1 month.

After that I visited reliance outlet and discussed this issue to other executive, they assured me that they will talk to sonu and deliver it within 5 days.

Please find the below bill details:

sales order no:56704326
pos receipt no: 00459821

More than delivery what shaken us was the way each employee was lying to save their skins. Extremely horrifying experience.

Now, I am consulting my legal consultant regarding this issue that what kind of action should we have to take against your company as well as Reliance Digital.

We bought a laptop and after paying for all the costs was informed that we could purchase or give disks and they would download and burn the disks as a back-up. Then they said that the electricity had failed and could we come the next day for the necessary service. We agreed and the next day bought a pack of 10 disks which the concerned salesman said would cost us Rs 199/-. So I paid him Rs. 200/-and he bought the disks. He then downloaded and burnt the back up on five disks on the newly purchased laptop. As we were leaving he said the charges were Rs 500/- for the downloading and burning the disks.I was surprised and asked him why he had not mentioned the charges earlier as I would not have had to come to his establishment and could have done this on my own at home. He then took me to the Engineer who said that we have to pay the charges amounting to Rs 590/-. I was surprised why they were differing on the charges. He then said it was OK to pay Rs 500/-. I then checked the bill for the disks and found it was Rs.185-.I then asked him why he had not given me the balance of Rs. 15/-. He then took me to the cashier who returned Rs.20/- and asked me to pay Rs.5/-as he did not have change.I said I did not have the change either so he gave me Rs.6/- and asked for Rs1/- which I paid him.I also paid him Rs.500/- and left.I wanted to close the whole deal and return the laptop. But found that they do not accept laptops back after it was sold. The strategy of not downloading the back-up on the day of purchase now became clear to me, as I could have returned the laptop and taken my money and left. On reporting the matter to the organisation I was told that the complaint had been registered. and they would get back to me in 48 hours. It is now 72 hours and there is no response from the organisation yet.

RELIANCE DIGITAL continues with the exact same problems as of today. In 2012 i faced similar problems (Bought a washing machine)...in 2013 i gain made a mistake of 'relying on reliance' and bought a split ac - hitachi. Its almost 4 weeks and i am still without an installed AC (1005% of the payments made including installation charges).
I regret taking my AC from Reliance Digital. I purchased a Samsung 1 ton split AC in Oct 2011, and they convinced me to take a service contract with ResQ. Being a "Reliance" company, I agreed. ResQ first did a faulty installation and thereafter I kept having problems. ResQ technicians have taken my AC and keep delaying the repairs. I am yet waiting for delivery of the repaired AC since last 13 days. My complaints to Reliance digital and Resq on their email IDs are of no use, as no one contacts you and they take it very casually. Even their supervisor, Mr. Asif Khan, does not bother and openly tells me that Reliance Digital is dependent on them. Asif has told me that they do not keep any spares and there is no point complaining to any one as they have many clients to attend to and will have to wait. Is Ambani listening??

Hi,
My name is Om Parab .This is regarding my bad experience I had in you Korum mall Reliance digital I bought a New HTC OneX from your store .The product was a crap, The touch of the phone stopped working in the second week . I surrender my phone to the service center on return i got a D.O.A for the mobile
...Now the real story starts I went to your store and i ask for replacement from your floor manager (the dumbest women I ever met ) with the D.O.A attached. but your dumb floor manager refuse to replace the same for silly reason the D.O.A form was hand written she want the hand writing to be neat and clean secondly she took objection about the name on the D.O.A this mobile was gifted to me by my wife her name was on the bill and i did the followup for the mail and the D.O.A letter so the D.O.A was on my name
.I confirmed with HTC customer care about this name difference on D.O.A form it was told to me that HTC dont have any objection about the name on D.O.A form only concern was the IMEI no, that should match properly. Every thing was explained to her but no use, again I made a call to the HTC customer care and let the customer care person talk to your floor manager but again she refuse to listen to them.
She was very behaving very rude when i asked for the brief reason, after a long argument she threatened me by saying now she wont replace the handset at any cost, even if the owner of reliance digial comes. I was very much shocked to listen to her arguments it seems to me that she was from some third grade Institute. It was noticed by me that none of the floor person even the store manager if I recall correctly his name is Mr. Swami. didn't have correct knowledge of the D.O.A formalities we I talked to him about my mobile replacement he refuse to talk to me.
I mate one of the sales executive Mr. Shaibaz all this argument was solved because of the him he called the dealer and ask if he had any objection, fortunately he gave the green signal after 3 day i got my mobile replaced

Before putting up this complain mail I gave a call at your store reliance digital korum mall to know the name of your floor manager (lady floor manager ) so that i can specify the person correctly I was talking to Ms. Priyanka and then to Mr.shashank both of them refused to give her name
With these type of insulting experience from Reliance digital, I swear to god that I wont visit your Reliance digital store never ever in my life time and will make sure to spread this awareness to each any every Person I meet in my life time

Om Parab
They are cheaters looting and defrauding public. I purchased iPhone 7 128gb for Rs 58999 and tainted glass for Rs 599 from Reliance Digital Burdwan on 06.092017. They promised while selling the product that I can visit any Reliance Digital for redressing any grievance and replacement if there is any defect in any product. But today when I visited their Panchkula store I.e. on 28.09.17 they refused to attend saying that I have to visit the Reliance Digital store from where I have purchased the product. I am asked to visit 1500 K M to redress my grievance.

This is nothing but cheating the customers while selling a product to earn money by misrepresentation and looting the customers.

I want the customers to be careful and not to become victims of Reliance Digital. Do not buy any product from them as they are cheaters.
