Sony Bravia — Dubious warranty | |
I have got a sony bravia 26" as a membership gift from Club Mahindra. Exactly 2 months after the warranty period, the TV screen turned blank, with every other thing working fine. The Gurgaon based authorised service center checked it and initially gave me a lumpsu budget of Rs 20,000 for replacing the panel. Then after protesting and requesting, they contacted the sony india and reverted back with a budget of Rs 9000+. My problem is with the quality of the product, which immediately after the warranty period needs such huge cost to repair. You cant ask someone to spend 30% of product's original cost to spend on its repair within 16 months of purchase. If after warranty period SONY doesnt feel responsible for anything, then let customers know it in advance that immediately after warranty period, the TV might blow off, or it might need a repair, costing almost another LCD TV. I am surprised at the quality standards of SONY and also at the way they provide post sale services. I have made several written and telephonic requests for them to look into the matter( complain no 4874988), as I am in no position to cough up this kind of money on repair.
