[Resolved]  Times Of India, Coimbatore Edition — Non-delivery of paper

Address:Tamil Nadu

I subscribed to “Times of India”, Coimbatore edition (Order No.IAA 025439, Subscriber No.[protected], when it was launched in 2010.

Whenever the entire family goes outstation, we used to give instruction to paper agents not to deliver the paper since if the papers are found outside the house, not removed for days together, it will give an indication for bad elements that nobody is there in the house.

On 22nd Dec 2011, I informed the paper agents not to deliver the paper from the next day onwards till further instructions since we were going out of the city and told them the reason also. On returning on 6th January 2012 morning, I was shocked to see four days’ paper of “Times of India” strewn all over the front area. I used to get one Tamil daily also, whose agent has followed the instruction properly.

I called the agent of "Times of India" around 10 AM and told him that we have returned and start delivery of the paper from next day onwards i.e., from 7th January and also told him that the delivery of papers, while we were not in station will create problem for us. I also told him that the delivery boy used to throw the paper just like that that the individual sheets and supplement will be strewn all over the place and during rainy days, all the sheets will be wet and nobody can read the paper. He shouted rudely that either he or the delivery boy would have forgotten to follow our instructions and disconnected. Also he has not delivered the papers also from that day.

This matter was reported to Coimbatore office over phone on 10th January, 2012 and I was given a complaint number as 547367. Even then there was no delivery of the paper and so again on 13th January, 2012, I called their Coimbatore office and enquired about non-delivery. I was assured that suitable instruction will be given the Agent . Since there was no delivery of the paper the next day also, I again talked to them on 14th January and asked about the position of the complaint No. 547367. The lady asked me again all the details. So I asked her to connect me to the manager. But she connected to me one customer care executive, who was hesitant to give his name and assured me that he will come back to me after enquiring with the agent. But till today, from 7th January, there is no delivery of paper and no information also.

On 16th January, I talked to the executive of Marketing and subscription Dept of Times of India, Chennai office (Phone No:[protected] and informed him the above. He also assured me that he will look into it but so far there had been no response.

In the meantime I have renewed my subscription also, vide order no. IAD002791. If the agent’s behavior as well as their staff is going to be like this, there is no point in continuing the subscription and that too on yearly basis which I cannot discontinue in the middle. Since the subscription is yet to start, I would like to request them to cancel my subscription and refund the amount but I am not sure about their response.

I hope that request for non-delivery of paper while the subscriber is not in station and again start delivery of paper once the customer asks for it, is common to all subscribers and not a crime.

Dear Sirs,

I have been trying to get hold of a no in the TOI, Cbe office to lodge my complaint regarding late delivery of the TOI. I have complained to the agent a number of times, but to no avail. All the tenant's of my apartment who have subscribed tot the TOI are really unhappy with the delivery. The paper is delivered only between 8.30 and 9 am every morning. When we were subscribing to the competitors newspaper the paper used to be delivered by 6-6.30 am without fail. What is the point of getting the newspaper so late? We need to leave for the office by 8.30 am at least, to reach in time.

On Sundays the delivery is much worse. Its 9.30 am now an we still have not received the newspaper. Though TOI has given us an attractive inaugural offer, the saving is lost as, invariably I or my friends who are in a similar plight call up one another to find out whether they have received the paper or we have to call up the agent to find out why he has not delivered the newspaper. So, what we saved on the subscription, we lose on the ph calls.

I and my friends to would like to cancel our subscriptions if we do not get the paper by 6.30 am. somebody for TOI pl address our problem and contact me.

Regards,

Matthen
