Honda Jazz — honda jazz 1.2 petrol poor performance on uphill and while overtaking

Jazz performs poorly on above situation. Engine sometimes stops when riding on uphill with 5 induvidual and their luggage's. It will be horrible if we are in a traffic in such terrain.
It also do not performs when we overtake a big vehicle from a traffic, i may need to shift to first gear in such situation, which will harm engine on long run. I have reported to the dealer (Apco honda, calicut, kerala) on the first month of purchase
I have also registered complaint to honda india with communication id 1-[protected], dated jan 25 2018

Dealer reported that, "there is a small performance issue and its not as serious as i mentioned".
I know the seriousness, because i have faced these situation directly. One time it was so close to an accident.

Honda replied to me that "my vehicle is as per specification and lower your gear while overtaking and honda jazz 1.2 l pe engine provides maximum torque w. R. T competitor's."
Lowering gear, needs to shift first gear in many situation, which will damage my gearbox in long run
Honda provides low torque as compared with i20, baleno, polo, tata tiago.

It has been 6 months till i informed honda and its delaer, they have not cam up with any valuable solution.

Reference to your below communication, we understand inspection of your vehicle was done and vehicle is observed to be normal as per its specification.

Your feedback for performance of the engine while overtaking or uphill driving can be addressed by lowering the gear to smallest possible and accelerating accordingly.

Honda Jazz 1.2 L Pe engine provides maximum torque w.r.t competitor's & performance can be taken with correct synchronization between throttle & gear.

Hi Ma’m,

First of all, I am happy that you replied. However, I am really surprised on how you’re answering my concern; the comment youmade on torque efficiency comparing to your competitors seems to be just absurd and I find it pretty hard & unbelievable to take that into my brains. Let me share the torque comparison - I gathered from various sources - of your competitor models that fall in the similar segment of premium hatchbacks.

Honda Jazz : 110 Nm @ 4800 RPM

i20 Active : 115 Nm @ 4000 RPM

Baleno : 115 Nm @ 4000 RPM

Polo : 110 Nm @ 3750 RPM

Tata Tiago : 114 Nm @ 3500 RPM

And, the justification you gave me must be right if I compared my car’s performance with Tata nano/ wagonr / i10 or any other lower varients.

Let me tell you one thing so clear. Not only am I facing the issue on hilly terrains, but also on plane roads with traffic. Say for instance, while overtaking a vehicle ahead of me, I have to think twice or thrice before I do overtake and make sure that no vehicles are heading towards me from the opposite direction, atleast a 100 yards away. The vehicle does not perform on these situations even on a second gear. Are you asking me to overtake vehicles on 1st gear and speed up to 30-40 kms/hr. Wouldn’t this cause my vehicle to be roughly handled? Who would bear the maintenance cost for these rash driving maneuvers I perform to reach my destination on time?

Now, why am I being so concerned about this? The reason is quite simple, twice I narrowly escaped from hitting on vehicles coming from my opposite direction, while overtaking a vehicle at a speed of 30-40 kms/hr.

I invested ₹ 750, 000 on a premium hatchback to make sure I get the performace what I expect from a premium hatchback. It should be worth the amount what I paid for and not to rely on adjustment driving to get my things done on time. As a matter of fact, I am fed up of shifting the gears every now & then just to make sure my family is safe on road.

And, I would really appreciate i[censored] stop judging my driving abilities coz I have been driving cars of different makes for the past 13 years and I don’t think I am a bad driver either.

Any how, I believe I would have to rely on Social media and see what others have to say about this issue. I strongly believe, I am forced to share the response I received from HONDA INDIA after getting awesome service from other manufacturers. Before that, I would like to know if you guys can help me in anyway to overcome my issues.

While we appreciate to have your detailed feedback however in terms of vehicle performance for pick up is not found abnormal in the car. At the dealership you may visit again for them to share the details however in recent inspection too no error is observed. As per vehicle specification, we do offer you for a comparative test with Honda Jazz of same age and type for us and our dealership to assure of your car optimal performance.

Rest as we had shared before, the adequate torque generation relates to driving requirement and sync of accelerator, clutch, gears etc will help to the same.

Really Shame on Honda motors India team
I am a key customer of Honda Motors japan since 2007 i am using Honda cars, I have used Honda civic 2007 to 2010 then 2010 to 2014 Honda accord then till as of today I am using Honda civic.

Recently I bought one Honda Jazz 2018 in India I never expect from Honda such kind of poor performance from Honda motors, i had race the complaint for performance issue to dealer but i am not satisfied with dealer feedback then i had race the issue the to [protected]@hondacarindia.com but still the same,
kindly check with you RND what you can do on this and sort out immediately otherwise I have no other option to escalate this to manufacturer Honda Motors japan.

I have given my vehicle (Registration Number KL 18 V 785 Honda Jazz 2018 )for first free service today at your service center and reported following complaints

1. Vehicle not getting proper response even in carrying people less than seating capacity especially at 20 degree slop. This makes me very disappointed performs in purchasing a brand like Honda As a result of this it made bad impression towards Honda Motor
2. I have been done extra floor plastic coat from your showrooms at a cost of around Rs 3500.00 it doesn’t meet minimum expectation of customer. You remove and refund the amount
For complaint no.1 kindly check and sort out immediately otherwise I have no other option to escalate this to manufacturer Honda Motors.
