One Assist Insurance — Reject mobile claim & mobile damage

I had purchased “one assist”, “mi protection plan” for my wife’s redmi note-4. When she visited the mi service centre immediately on the next day i. E.10 may 2017, she was informed that her mobile got liquid damaged.

While lodging a complaint (Claim no.1977269) on the one assist portal, i had mentioned the below factual reason for reason of damage.
“my wife’s mobile was in working condition till around 9 pm. When she was supposed to leave for home from my clinic @ around 10pm, she found that the display is not working & she could only see the led light blinking on top of the phone. Next day (10 may 2017) when visited the mi service centre located at shivajinagar, pune she was informed by mi technician that the phone is not working because of liquid damage.”

When i know that my phone is insured for physical & liquid damage, it would have been easier for me to give a some simple reason by stating that phone was accidentally dropped in a vessel containing liquid or something similar to that, instead of mentioning the above true reason….

Here i fail to understand why do one assist need the reason. When it’s a liquid damage as certified by mi technician & it is covered under insurance they should repair it.

I had earlier (I. E. 11 may) clearly mentioned in detail how her cell got damaged (For your knowledge once again i will mentioned it below) but after few days i got a message that my documents is incomplete & further on contacting “one assist” i was suggested through telephonic conversation by one of the executive of “one assist” to mention “i do not know”. Further i did so as per their request.

After waiting for around 10 days (On 24 may), one assist informed me that my papers were ok & they have got an estimate of 11495 inr from mi team. They then sent my claim to insurance company for approval. After another approx. 10 days (On monday 05 june 2017) i received a call from one assist that my claim no.1977269 for my redmi note-4 has been rejected by the insurance company for below reason. They later took 2 more days to send me a mail to inform me about rejection of my mail

The insurance company is constrained to deny the liability basis the following reason:
"the subject claim is not admissible under exclusion 1 - loss or damage to the gadget due to mysterious circumstances / disappearance or unexplained reasons"


This reason given by them for rejecting my claim is totally unacceptable to me, since without seeking an explanation from me how can the directly reject the claim.

On monday 05 june 2017, when i received call from ”one assist” informing me about my claim being rejected; even after requesting the executive i was shocked to know that he cannot transfer my call to his senior as his seniors will explain me the same think. Further again after requesting to transfer my call to the person from insurance company who rejected my claim, he clearly stated that customers cannot speak with the insurance team.

Some more shocking facts
Mi service centre located at pune informed my wife that the total cost of repair will be 8346.37 inr including taxes since mainboard needs to be replaced, whereas one assist gave an estimate to their insurance company of repair (Which as per one assist they recd from mi team) 11495 inr.

How can this happen?? Difference in cost of repair for the same repair from the same mobile company. Isn’t this shocking???
Shockingly the total cost of mobile when i purchased was 12999, so as per the repair estimate given by one assist (11495 inr) the parts other that mainboard of redmi note 4 i. E. Camera, battery, speakers, display, body of mobile etc just costs 1504 inr[protected]. Doesn't seems true at least to me...

Further they have damaged the camera & body of my new mobile.

Hope you will agree with me & help in getting my claim approve based on the factual condition i stated above & get the damage replaced at the earliest.

Please find photos of my phone damaged by one assist which i have already email to one assist & estimate of repaired my wife received from mi service centre pune.

As per your above clarification please clarify below points.

1) Why did One Assist FORCED me to change my statement and mention "I Don't Know"?? Which I had saved to One Assist portal.

2) So as per your above statement "One assist" is an Agent between Mobile Insurance company, customer & Mi. We have made payment to "One Assist" & not to Mobile Insurance company, so we have the right to question you & discuss with you. But you let off your responsibility & and mention that the insurance company has denied it. If you are taking our hard owned money then your are liable to answer/discuss the issue with customer before directly rejecting the claim.

3) Since as per you the Mobile Insurance has rejected my claim so, Why are you hesitating to share with us the name of the insurance provider. Why are we not allowed to speak with the insurance company.?
I ask a simple question here, isn’t it a customer’s right to speak with the person/company who has rejected the claim in order to explain things better.

4) Why there is a difference of cost of repair given by One Assist (11495 Rs) & Mi (8346.37 Rs)????? I hope you don't blame this on Mobile insurance company... and give us the acceptable reason????

5) What about the damage caused to the camera & body of my new mobile from your end to my scratch less handset given to you. I have already provided you the photos of my mobile while sending you as well as when I recd from you.

Looking at the reviews of your company it portrays a view that One Assist is just fooling common people by taking their hard owned money, misguiding people & rejecting their claims without discussing the issue.

Dear sir,
On 30/11/2018 I got a msg from HDFC bank stating that 1899 Rs deducted for one assist, but last year same thing happened that time I called customer care they told from next time they will cancel my insurance but it is very sad that this time also they deducted.. Kindly refund my amount
