[Resolved] Sony India — Frequent defect in LED TV of Sony India | |||
This is to notify my grievance against Sony Corporation towards the defective product sold by them. I made the purchase of Sony LED TV Model no. KDL40EX520 IN5, Serial no.2420432 on[protected] from a sony dealer Reliancedigital Retail Limited, Vashi Navi Mumbai. Unfortunately, the product has not performed well, since during a short span of 3 years of its purchase, there are two instances where the product got inoperative due to the poor quality of its parts. The first instance of its breakdown happened only after the 23 months of its purchase where the “LED Panel” of the Television became inoperative. Fortunately the product was covered under the warranty period during the breakdown otherwise I would have had to pay around Rs 25000/ towards replacement of the said Panel as quoted by your service staff. However at that time I had to pay Rs900/ towards transportation cost of LED Panel. Now, when the product is no long covered under the warranty period, the Mother Board of the Television has again become inoperative. The total expenses to cure it, as mentioned by Sony authorize service centre is Rs, 9801/ which has to be now borne by me. I acknowledge that Sony Corp. is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation and is one of the leading manufacturers of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets. Considering the high brand value and our esteemed trust on the Brand, we decided to purchase the Television only from Sony, rebuffing all other brands. But we were unaware of the fact that we will have to face so much of maintenance issues and other hidden expenses. I acknowledge that the Television is no longer covered under the warranty as it was bought 38 months ago. However, The Sale of Good Act, 1930 makes it an implied term of the contract that goods be as described, fit for the purpose and of satisfactory quality. As the product has become inoperative well in advance of its normal life expectancy, considering the fact that it has not been misused in any way, I regard the product of an unsatisfactory quality in respect of its quality and durability. I am really sorry to say that since there are two instances where the product got inoperative in a short span of 38 months, which means a defective model is sold to me and that too at a high price of Rs 64900/. Can anyone tell me that is it feasible or justifiable for a middle class person to spend Rs 25000/(which I was suppose to pay on change of Panel) or even Rs 9801/ every year on maintenance of TV after spending a hefty Rs 64900/ on its purchase. I humbly pray the Sony Company to repair the product free of charge or to replace it with the one which is working properly. I look forward to a positive reply and a resolution to my problem .
