Beware of whaaky.com!
Whaaky.com is a new site from way2online.com. The parent
company claims to be amongst the leading media houses and owns Way2sms.com. 160by2.com and Voinga.com
besides whaaky.com. Way2online.com also claims to have 52 million registered
users and three million page views everyday.
I visited Whaaky.com from a Google Adsense advertisement
displayed on one of the sites. I had just browsed another site for men’s
accessories which is the reason why this advertisement showed up for me. The site
sells clothes and accessories for men and women. The deals seem awfully
attractive. I checked the ‘About Us’ tab and had seen Way2sms.com for quite a
while. I had also heard about Way2Online.com. Since it wasn’t a standalone site
and seemed to belong to a fairly established group, I browsed around a bit.
There were a couple of attractive offers. Again going by the
fact that it didn’t seem like a
fly-by-night operation, decided to order a couple of things from there despite the fact that every product
description has a disclaimer that the photographs are only representative and the
actual products may differ ‘slightly’.
The two products I ordered were:
1.
A set of five men’s watches for Rs. 799/-
2.
A combination of 3 men’s T-shirts and a backpack
for Rs. 699/-
I made a mistake with the size of T-shirts so I wrote to
them asking for a different size. I sent the request for a changed size in less
than 24 hours after placing the order.
In response, I got an ‘urgent’ delivery the next day.
The number of watches were as promised but the quality was
worse than what you get on the streets for less than Rs. 100/- each. However, I
took that as my mistake for having trusted this site.
The real problem came with the second product. The courier
tried to give me a package containing three T-shirts. I rejected the package
because I was supposed to get the backpack also.
I wrote to whaaky.com immediately. I have shopped on Amazon, Flipkart, Rediff,
eBay, Jabong, Snapdeal and some more sites. Everyone has customer service that
isresponsive. Responses are very prompt. Customer grievance redressal is
attended to immediately. But whaaky.com DID NOT REPLY.
I sent SIX mails just asking for response. There was no
response.
Finally after the sixth mail, I received a mail from them.
Their mail is reproduced below verbatim:
Dear customer,
We would be definitely happy to
assist you. Can you kindly provide us with the image of the miss match product
/ damaged product / defective product so that our quality check team can
ascertain the defect / size issue. Kindly provide the image along with the
packaging cover of Whaaky.
Thanks & Regards,
Your friends from Whaaky
I sent the image of the ordered product and mentioned that I
did not receive the backpack as advertised.
Again there was no response to the mail.
After that I sent FOUR mails asking for refund. Still no
response.
I can only conclude that whaaky.com is a fraud and would
like to warn everyone about this site.
Please do not fall into the same trap as me. DO NOT SHOP AT
WHAAKY.COM!
