Tamil Nadu Electricity Boards Meter Fault

Hello. I have a very serious concern with the static meter that was just recently installed by TNEB about 4 months ago at my residential premises. The last bi-monthly reading taken on 17th July showed 170 and the reading taken on the 16th September shows 1574. That is 1404 units. We have not had to pay more than few hundred rupees all these years and now all of a sudden the bill shows that we need to pay Rs9894 this month. We have not used anything differently at home and moreover have hardly even used utilities at home since we are most of the time not at home. Moreover, the man who took the reading also entered about 20 units extra than what the meter showed at the time of the reading. This is totally unacceptable. My Mother is receiving a pension of around Rs 12000 monthly after my father passed away last September and I her Son have been unemployed for years due to serious health issues. We cant afford to pay such a hefty current bill which is not even our fault. I kindly request consumer complains forum to intervene and solve this issue. Thank you.

Meter reading not taken yet
It’s now the 21st of Aug and still the meter reading has not been taken yet. Due this our consumption may go over the limit and charged more / may be fined for not playing the bill on time. Why is it taking so late for the people from EB to take a reading?

Cutting The Whole Tree by Jumping into The Property Without Asking Permission from The Owner of The House

We are having big tree in front of our house. Nearly 20 feet long. Some branches of tree touched eb line. While cutting tree by eb department people Jumped Into The Property and they totally cut the tree from the base without intimating people inside house. When we asked the person who cut, he was not replied any answer properly.

Meter Reading Not taken

Even though we are available at home, TNEB meter reading is not taken..
During DEC 2020 also same thing happened. When we enquired about this, we were asked to pay OCT 2020 bill.. due to this we had to pay Rs.150 more during DEC 2020..
Now (APR 2021), again meter reading is not taken. For all neighbours reading is taken... for neighbours, bill amount is shown online.. but for meter reading is not online and bill amount is showing zero.
If we pay previous month bill (FEB2021), we have to pay very less by saving 190 units..i.e., Rs.35 only.. If it happens, next month, in our bill this 190 units will be added which will increase our EB bill vey huge..
Kindly we request you to measure EB reading to calculate APR 2021 Bill.

No electricity in Medavakkam
There has been no electricity in Medavakkam, Chennai for past 2 days. No one is picking phones and answering. There is current in all other parts of Chennai. We always get issues in Medavakkam. Please see to this

Last Four days, No power in my village due to one of the transformer failure. We already informed to our local officer Panruti south and they informed us, transformer failure. We waited more than two days ago.Even not remove and not checked by maintenance team our respective transformer.

eb pole damaged and about to fall

Dear sir,
In my area eb pole near my house is damaged and in a very bad condition. It might fall anytime. It almost in slanted position and without any support. Please take necessary action to replace the damaged pole before it causes any loss of lives. Even wires hanging such a low level and even small vehicle can hit the line. Need emergency intervention

Reference : My meter service no [protected].
The wrong meter reading is a contineous problem I am facing, due to which excess billing is generated. This is frequient issue in my region, I have raised several complaints with TANGEDCO but unfortunately nobody taking the matter seriously and solving the issue.
The manual reading is always a problem, in today's world there are smart meters available which government should implement but that is for long time solution.
I want the local official in TANGEDCO to solve the mete reading problem for short term solution.

coronavirus instructions not followed

Ref: letter no.15584/a9/a92/2020-4, dated.17.04.2020.
As per the above reference tneb department (Tamilnadu electricity board) issued necessary instructions for all the tneb offices to maintain 33% staff strength because of corona virus spreading.
Its been 4 days after issuing the above orders but most of the tneb offices not following the above orders and 33 % of staff strength not maintained on the offices especially in sivagangai district on all the tneb all divisions & sections in sivagangai.
They are maintaining full staff strength (Refer every office attendance registers) not maintaining 33% in all section offices. (All tneb divisons and sections) in sivaganga) which may allow the way corona virus to spread easily.
The tneb staffs in sivagangai district (All divisons) not maintaining social distance. There is no hand sanitizer placed in front of all offices. They are not following the govt instructions. Most of the tneb offices in sivagangai allows people inside office without wearing facemask.
Even tamilnadu govt allotted fund to buy a face mask, hand sanitizers & gloves, but the staffs in tneb sivagangai district staffs (All divisions & sections) not provided with facemask, gloves and hand sanitizers. They just having a bunch neem tree leaves instead of having sanitizers in front of every office (All divsion and sections) in which is free of cost.
So kindly take the appropriate action on the issue and strictly direct the all divisions and sections of sivaganga and instruct the tneb higher official to follow the instruction as per the above reference.

excess billing

For this bi-monthly billing cycle, our total amount is 31216/- which is way more than our previous bills. On top of that they have even added accd as 13640/-. This is ridiculous. Our total bill amount is 44756/-. For a 2bhk flat with minimal usage of 2ac, this amount is very much. Please do something as our due date is 13/05/2019. Earlier our electricity was around[protected]. But this time it is way too much.

energy meter issue and billing system

It is commonly stated that the tneb is second in corruption department.
I thought it to be only the personnel work with the department is corrupted, but the system itself seems to have certain practices which are not logically right.
My case here: the energy meter supplied and installed by the tneb went fault. It was identified to be so, because of very less charges calculated.
The meter was hence changed from an analog to digital.
The reading for the next billing cycle was too high and we again registered a complaint. The meter was changed and it worked well for one billing cycle and again became fault. This time the meter reading was low. This kind of fluctuated readings were observed in a span of around 18 months.
So, when a meter reading was low, the tneb billing system is set to take an average of the "highest readings" in the past one year.
My case is that, i had complained that the meter is running high than normal (It is proved after changing) and the charges are not reasonable.
Now when the meter is not working properly and the previous average reading to be taken from the fault reading is to be considered, we are being cheated/exploited.
It is proved obvious that the previous readings which were high are wrong, how can the department consider the fault reading as average.
When the complaint was taken to the tneb office, they had considered and levied a nominal charge which was quite convincing; however, at the end of the financial year or the annual closing schedule as per tneb, the concession provided earlier is being compensated by way of cc charges arrears etc.
Please review the case.

transformer fault not yet replaced almost a month passed away

We belong to vadacheri electricity board circle in ambur taluk, vellore district. The transformer in our area was burned out, due to which we are facing lot of problems. The power supply to the nearby houses were lost. The agriculture land become dry, due to which the crops are lost. The electricity board employees have not taken action, almost the month passed away. Still the problem was not solved.

street light not working for months

I’m located in a. P. Apartment located at 3rd cross east, brindhavan road, fairlands, salem 636016.
Here, lots of apartment are located. Street lights almost 4 of them are not functional for more months. Since, the apartments are on the end of street lots of people gather here while is very insecure for people residing here and also lots of kids play outside, since no availability of light it’s very unsafe and danger for them. So i request you to fix all the four lamp as early as possible.

low voltage problem

Dear Sir / Madam,
We are facing low voltage problem last two months. We are reporting many times directly to the EB office in 42 vedal, kanchipuram taluk, 631601(Magaral division). but They simply given false promise given assurances will resolve it. But still we are facing a problem continuously,
we haven't sleep will for last 12 months properly.
we are not having AC, we are using only the fan and tube lights, tube light blinking and get-off frequently And fan rotate very slow...because of less voltage problem even some time suddenly getting high voltage as well, also many electronic items got damaged...

Power cut problem

Sri iam living in vazhudhigai medu village my pin code is 600067 a village located near Minjur .in my village power cut frequently due to some corret reason such as raining winds for some reason but it never comes once it of in evening it only comes next morning.even the rain or winds comes for five minutes in evening the electricity only comes next morning i don't know what is the reason .this is not occur once twice if is occur every week .1week we only have current 2 days at week if electricity of in evening or night it will comes only next morning .in summer season

So hence applied new EB commercial connection on Aug 2016, But till date there is no revert from either of officials.
My interaction was with CI Mr Venkatesh mobile no [protected] and AE Mr Chidabaram mobile no [protected], they have taken a bribe of rs 9000/- and again demanding bribe of 20, 000/-, this is just ridicules for an young startup like me. I want my EB connection as per the law of TNEB..
request concerns to look up to the situation seriously and solve my problem asap

Since 3 days there is no electricity

Due to the tornado my home power goes off on 12/12/2016th morning and since even after two days the power doesnt normalized. I have suffering due to this and there is no water and any essential utilities cant use. Since three days tneb cant resolve this.

Laying cable above the ground

Iam a resident of new no.6, old. No.11, appadurai street, teynampet chennai, 600018. The service personnel have drawn a cable above the surface level in appadurai street connecting a junction box at thiruvalluvar salai and another junction box at appadurai street whichn is situated near the main entrance to my house. This was laid about 45 days before. No efforts are taken to bury the cable underground. Due to this the safety of the people walking in the street and persons entering my house is jeopardised. We have made personal representation to the service staff as well as telephonic complaints. So far no action. Will be much obliged if suitable steps taken to bury the cable.

Excess meter reading-variation in last two month's bills

Our residence is in Thiyagarajanagar, Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli-11.And our consumer number is MHJ[protected], Tamil Nadu Electricity Board - Maharajanagar, Tirunelveli. In the past few years, the meter reading of our home had not exceeded above 90 to 100 units.But in the last four months, the meter reading showed a huge variation of about 350 to 400 units. I kindly request the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to take necessary steps to change the meter . Please Sir/Madam, convey this message of changing the meter to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Maharaja Nagar, Tirunelveli-11- Assistant Engineer.Until January-2015 we had not paid above 170 rupees.But in the past four months we have paid 950 rupees.I hope, you take this matter into concern and satisfy our needs.the Maharaja nagar EB office number-2562900, 212660, 2681123.Consumer contact number-[protected].The petition about this problem has already given to the Maharaja Nagar Electicity Board.Kindly take the required actions to solve this problem.

No power from morning.
To Govt Tamilnadu,
I dont understand why we build the electric lines underground. I hope it is to survive even on natural calamaities, but I dont understand why power cuts for small rains. And the worst part is our coorporation team, I dont know how many holes they made and left them like that. I hope they are living happily with their children on weekends . But I am not able to spend my week ends at home due to the drainage system where no route to rain water to go . Can some big head who is having some brains and come and see Vadapalani, Bajarani koli streen 2, beside SRM university.

Complaint against eb meter reader booplan (palavoyal eb office)

I would like to bring to your attention that I have been overcharges as the current consumption meter reader Boopalan has been wrongly mention door lock ., how it could be, because am working online job in home with my mom and brother .there is no lock/gate for such reason. If i ask there is no proper responce, they ask me to pay the amount what ever its shows in online. This is not at all acceptable. everybody says mr. Boopalan is most of the time dont come to take reading . Then how can i pay the money blindly without knowing the actual consumption. TNHB needs to take such action immediately to avoid this concern to the customer.

Refusal to issue acknowledgement to written complaint

The underground electricity cables on my street (10th main road/ AE Block / Annanagar (West) have been ripped out in the process of road laying.
There has been no electricity since 23.05.2014 night. As I couldn't get through to lodge a compliant via phone to the Electricity office, (As usual - As they never pick up the phone) I sent a written complaint through my employee to the TNEB office.
The concerned AE said that since it was a common problem (meaning the whole street did not have power) and not restricted to my place alone. He wouldn't accept the complaint. Finally after a lot of persuasion when he did accept it, he refused to give a written acknowledgment.
When my employee returned and informed this to me, I called the AE (My employee had managed to get his telephone number) and asked him what the problem was with issuing an acknowledgement to a complaint as was the standard practice - I was taken aback when he brazenly stated that If I wanted to make record of the complaint, I was welcome to send the complaint through registered post or even better through an advocate. I was outraged and told him that I might just do that and hung up.
Minutes later the AE called me back and started to rant against me stating that he wouldn't care who I made a complaint to! This coming from the very man who minutes ago pompously dared me to send a legal notice to his office.
Please forward this complaint to the concerned senior official who may take appropriate action against the AE. BTW I don't have the AE's name. But his Telephone number is [protected].

I had given application for transferring post from one place to another because I m constructing home before 12 days. Bill now kollemcode electricity board not responding properly.please take any action. Helpful

1. I am residing at chinnakkattalai, under the region o[censored]silampatti, madurai dt. I and my brother served in indian army. Both of them are out of station. My electric connection no 346. Some persons from electric board from chinnakkattalai to force with my father to pick up electric pole between my house wall and panchayat union board school. The place is only 2 fit for whitewash for my house. This is not public enroute on the way.
2. As per rule, no public way on the route, no electric connection to be made by your board. However, this activity may cause very problem to my family.
3. Due to exiency of service, i and my brother not to attend the above commitment. Hence, you are requested to instruct concerned dealing staff and take necessary action please.

electricity bill wrong updation

Meter reading not taken by electricity board for 6 months between December 2012 to june 2013. On june 202013 the total reading was 1490 for 6 months. Instead of taking average of below 500 units per bimonthly billing cycle, they have charged 750 units for 4 months and remaining 740 units for 2 months dur to which the electricity bill amount payable has increased more than Rs.2000 than the actual bill amount. Also they have added the late payment charges for the month of April even though bill was not updated on time. Upon complaining in their website, there is no action taken against the electricity board officer. Instead I am asked to meet the person in the office for their mistake. Kindly take strict action against the laxmipuram office in chromepet to avoid the same in future. Allso kindly implement electronic bill generating system as available in mysore.
Please raise this issue to return back my money as well as other consumers in the region with compensation for the struggle undergone.
