[Resolved]  Clear Car Rental — harassment by the taxi driver n over charging fare

I am a retired professor.Had gone for a DARSHAN of Lord Bhimasankar with my wife.We had booked an AC Indica taxi from clear car rental through net.As the distance from Pune Rly station to Bhimasankar is 120 Kms, we agreed for a 250 Kms, package with a package cost of Rs.2740/= for return journey.An advance of Rs.546/= was paid.Clear car rental had given us the driver name (Bharat) n his cell no.[protected] through SMS. Booking no PK00020245. Booking date[protected] Date of travel[protected] from Pune Rly.station to Bhimasankar n back to Pune Rly. station. We reached Pune Rly. station at 5 AM.Contacted the driver at 6.30 AM on 13-12-13 .He called us back n asked us to report near his taxi in front of the station (near Axis bank ATM ).His tone n method of talking was very much offensive.We reached the place.He whistled to draw our attention, which I could not digest.However, we expected him to help us in loading our luggage in the taxi, which he never did.When we sat in the taxi, he told us to pay him fare for 300 Kms. as the distance is more.As we r old people n had no desire of going any where other than the temple n back to catch up our return train n as the return journey distance is 240 Kms, I opposed.He threatened us to throw out of the taxi on the route if we do not agree.As time at our disposal was short n we were not in a mood to quarrel, we agreed with him with protest.We had hired an AC taxi.The morning temperature on[protected] in Pune was around 10 degree.We expected the driver, to use heater to protect us from the cold.But he opened the glass of the front door for the cold wind to pass.As it was too cold n we were unable to tolerate, I requested him to close the window, which he reluctantly did.After our return he handed me over a bill for 280 Kms. n charged Rs.255/= extra.If he had requested me I would have paid him more than that.But the way he behaved with us was unbearable, offensive n rude. On my return I received a mail from clear car rental to give my feedback.I mentioned these things.In the afternoon, I received a call from cell no [protected] .I was asked for the reason of my adverse comment.I explained my experience in detail.He promised me to get back after talking to the driver.I am yet to receive any call. Now I demand an unconditional apology n return of the total amount from clear car rental for breach of contract n harassment by the driver.The contract was breached as the driver did not use the heater though we had hired an AC taxi, Besides, we were charged for 280 Kms, which is more than the return journey mileage. Booked a tata indica for outstation travel(Pune-bhimashankar-triambakeshwar-pune).Very disappointing service.

1. Driver has no knowledge of route even with in pune city that costed me 16 km more.
2. Cab condition was poor. AC is not working as we are sweating inside Cab.
3. Driver was rude.

U should return the charges for (16 km extra) that was mistake of driver and also for poor AC.
Mis- Selling and Mis - Information is what is clear about Clear Car Rental Company.

I had an horrible experience from booking a Taxi for a dear Friend.
Worst Service I've Ever Seen.
- I booked for Indigo from ClearCarRental and at the last moment they gave an Indica. Customer service lied to me that Indigo broke down on the way. However they sent me an email/sms confirming the cab details one day prior to journey (that was Indica details). Below is the mail from them:

- Driver behaviour is very rude.
- No GPS so driver took a longer route and when we asked about this he started arguing. I ended up paying 300 kms (~50kms) while booking time route was stating it will be total 245kms on round trip.
- They charged me ~45 kms. extra stating garage to garage distance while they say it will be max 20-30 kms.
Really I had worst experience .Car condition was not good and not maintain properly.he was not familiar with the places we were going to in his own state. had to stop for directions many a time. other than this minor blip,
Dear fellow-travelers,

I am aware, that this is an Indian Forum for Indian travelers – nevertheless I would like to share my experience on Clear Car Rental. After all I booked for altogether almost over 1000 km outstation drop-off (i.e. paid for > 2000 km) in 4 stretches
1. Planning and organization: Things were fine. A Mr. Pathare and a Mr. Rupesh made international payment possible and installed confidence in the service that was to be expected. (3 Stars worth)
2. Stretch 1 (Bangalore to Hampi): The driver picked us up at Bangalore Airport almost on time (1 hour late – I had received an Email, that the pickup time was corrected from 10 to 9 am, we passed immigration at 9:45 am but no driver information by Clear Car Rental. This had been emailed only long after I left Germany). Normally this would not have worried me, yet the fact, that the Service phone number was not reachable via my German mobile phone (“…this number is not available for you, please contact us via the internet or per email” or the like was the automated answere) and we had just been on the got for > 9000 km by plane and 20some hours. Thankfully Emirates staff helped and the driver arrived after another 15 minutes (10:10 am).
Drivingstyle: disturbingly reckless, especially the overtaking maneuvers, despite us asking to drive more carefully. It got better, after we had passed a severe accident involving two trucks.
Orientation: He had no clue, where he was going
Payment: Clear Car Rental was not reachable either for us, nor for the driver. He calculated the distance right but demanded a Driver Bata despite the same being included in the agreed price and I had this as a printout – he said, he could not read it. (English) (1 Star woth!)
3. Stretch 2 (Hampi to Kemmanagundi): No driver information by Clear Car Rental before we left! The driver was well on time – did not speak a single word of English! He knew where he was going and drove very considerate! However, he dropped us in the middle of nowhere and another driver picked us up. He sort of knew where he was going. It was agreed to visit Harihar Temple on the way and Amruteshvara Temple. He did stop at Harihar – but not at Amruteshvara, pretended not to understand, when we asked. As our homestay was quite remote, the owner came to greet us 6 km from there. Thus our driver did not have any problems on the last stretch. On the premises, unfortunately there was no mobile connectivity and no internet access. The driver demanded 2300 Rupies more, than previously agreed despite he did not drive the distance indicated! PLUS he again demanded a driver Bata (supposedly for the way back) this was 2600 Rupies = almost 1/3 more, than the initial price by visiting 50 % less of the sights on the way! (0 Star worth)
4. Stretch 3 (Kemmanagundi to Masinagudi) was the worst of all: I had received the driver information long before our trip. The owner of the homestay had called the driver to give him directions – he would not listen at all, insisted he knew everything. He arrived 1 ½ hours late – to Clear Car Rental he passed the information, that it was due to bad roads. This is garbage! When the landlord called him that morning (1/2 hour after scheduled departure), he had not even reached the bad last 4 km! It took him one more hour to arrive!
Upon arrival I informed the driver, that I had arranged lunch, drivers lunch and guarded parking at the Royal Orchid Hotel at Brindavan Garden/Mysore. To be on the safe side, I also had our Kannada-speaking Landlord tell it to him in his language. He nodded and signaled, he had understood. He refused to look on the map we provided and on the google maps route printouts but claimed, he knew the way. The first maybe 50 km he constantly talked on his mobile phone and despite best road conditions due to this he drove extremely slowly. When talked to, he reacted obnoxiously. He did not take the route we had suggested, but went via Hassan – after more than 4 hours, we were not even close to Mysore. He tried to drop us at some shaggy hotel for lunch (I had arranged everthing!!!) and when we insisted upon having lunch at the Royal Orchid Hotel, he simply stopped elsewhere for his lunch, then for tea … And when I told him we were worried about the time, he said, it would only be not even 1 hour from Mysore to Masinagudi (NO WAY!!!) After 5 hours we reached the outskirts of Mysore from the South-West – Brindavan is located in the North!
Now it turned out, that he did not have the faintest idea, where he was supposed to go! After driving in circles in some industrial area of Mysore for more than one hour, we gave up. Hence I never got to see Brindavan garden. We returned to the point we had turned off the mainroad (this took 6 ½ minutes!!!) and from there it was another 3 hours (!!!) to Masinagudi! Despite the fact, that he started speeding dangerously inside Bandipur Wildlife Sanctuary! Again he demanded the Driver Bata, that should have been included in the arranged price and tried to make us pay MUCH more than agreed. Here however Clear Car Rental could be reached and the homestays Secretary was SO helpful in helping us to avoid this. (less than 0 Star worth)
5. Stretch 4 (Masinagudi to Nedumbassery/Kochin Airport) … It is the merit of this driver, that Clear Car Rental gets 2 Stars instead of 0! He was absolutely on time, friendly, courteous, a considerate and safe driver! He stopped as agreed at Nilambur Teak Museum. I was a little worried, as he would not have any lunch on the way, that we would have paid for him gladly, but he managed! We arrived safely at our hotel and he only asked for exactly the amount due! Needless to say, that we were happy to reward his services and behavior with a generous tip!
6. After the trip: Already from Masinagudy I informed Clear Car rental on behalf of the overpayment. Two days later I got an Email apologizing for the inconvenience and asking for my banking details … I provided them as soon as I had a secured and safe Email connection - This was 8 days ago --- and I have not heard from them since.
7. Summasummarum I would rather try to book cars in the future again through my accommodation, where I know, that they take care everything is working fine!
ClearCarRental is a service provider who doesn't own any cars with them, This site doesn't provide proper information about pricing and taxes. This site doesn't have any control on cab's as well. We are not sure what is going to happen after booking your car in this site. Cab may or may not come, if cab comes also, we don't know about prices. what ever driver asks, we have to pay that. even Clear car rental does not have any control on that. I will never suggest you to take this car for your rent. you will get pissed of with this guys.
Clear Car Rental is another name of "incompetency personified" due to poor punctuality of drivers, poor condition of cars (even sadan's) & lack of service support.
I am sharing my valuable feedback after completion of my tour to Lonavala. I have already left the Car(Hyundai Excent, Reg No.:MH03BC4228) after giving the complete payment to the Driver after reaching back to Kharghar.

The following points may be observed:-

I could utilise only 485 Kms out of a total 1500 Kms allotted to me for the complete package of 6 days @250Kms/day basis.

The car was suddenly changed without any notice or SMS to me from Maruti Swift Dzire which I initially preferred to another sedan car Hyundai Xcent, bearing the exact same registration number Reg No.:MH03BC4228 as SMS sent to me one day back in my registered mobile. I call back clear car rental help desk to confirm the same prior to my journey but executive agreed but not able to cite any reasons for the change.

No USB drive found connected with the car stereo system despite promises by the clear car rental booking agent Mr. Dinesh at the time of booking about such accessories.

I was clearly told that I don’t have to pay extra to the driver except my tour package cost. Neither driver will demand anything from our valuable clients. But, while our trip on the 2nd day, the driver strongly demanded extra driver room for his hotel stay & extra cash for food which I rejected summarily quoting our terms & conditions with Clear Car Rentals.

After the above incident the driver drove the car in a rough manner despite my repeated requests for slowing down. Twice I observed near escape to accident occur. This is the result of his anger & frustration for not receiving any extra cash, he(the driver) tries to blackmail me for shall out extra money for his stay.

The driver doesn’t show any competence in knowing the destination route despite telling him one day before & request to discuss with the fellow drivers about the route details. He told me to use Google map in my mobile device to reach our destination instead to avoid knowing the details. I have also tried this, but unavailability of network in hilly terrain we could not able to travel most of our destination. Two whole days we can only spent asking people about the route inside the hot car without less comfort for the non working ac.

Ultimately, considering the driver’s attitude & the car condition I decided to move along with my son keeping my wife resting in the hotel. I could only cover two places Matheran & Wet & n joy water park.

While leaving the driver ask for tip which I rejected for his shoddy performance ground.

The above occurs despite your repeated assurance for providing proper car & driver who should be acquainted with the place. I was assured for this repeatedly while booking.

Due to the above I can only travel 485 kms is utilized out of the the Total trip limit is:- 1500 Kilometers).

After this I wrote to [protected]@clearcar.freshdesk.com; but a new ticket number was generated & after couple of hours the status is shown as RESOLVED. Please see the screen shot attached & other photoes.

I strictly recommend not to use clear car rental services in order to avoid such mishap to the others.

I booked a swift desire from ClearCarRental for 21st may 2018 @ morning 7:00 am.
In mid-night ClearCarRental sent confirmation message of car which was not swift desire, but I can't do anything in mid-night as I had to travel with my parents in morning.

At 6:45 am the driver called and confirms the address and till 7:30 am there was no reply from either driver or from ClearCarRental. When I called back to driver, he replied the car is reroute to some other pickup and other car is allocated to me. When tried n numbers of times to ClearCarRental, they inform me other car is coming soon for pickup but didn't specify any fix time.

There were no reply from ClearCarRental till 8:30 am. After calling several time in frustration finally at 9:00 am the booking is cancelled. Which cause cancellation of my family picnic.

Now I am waiting for refund for more than 9 days. The respond from ClearCarRental is the payment is refunded and ticket will be closed in next 48 hours.

Very bad experience and the service (which I did not receive) was unexpected, unprofessional & totally frustrating.
