I took rikshwa from Andheri seepz to Chikuwadi and meter was showing 217 rupees. Normally it should be around 95-105 rs.Auto rickshaw number is MH03 AA 2846

Hi,
People in navi mumbai are getting cheating because of faulty meter. About 60% of autorikshaw are having faulty meter.It seems there is no check on this. I am a regular commuter from Millenium towers Sanpada to Vashi station and facing this problem most of the times because of this. One of the Auto number is MH 43 C 7646. These people charge addtional to the commuters and rather than accepting, they start fighting.
There should be some strict action against such people.

Auto Rickshaw — Malpractice by Rickshaw Drivers
I take a rickshaw daily from Vidyavihar to Deonar, it comes to an average of 35 rupees, but lately some rickshaws have a faulty meter that is showing around Rs.50/- to Rs.60/-, which is gross malpractice. The rickshaw drivers are very rude also. Why cant the government go ahead with installing electronic meters. They will be much more difficult to tamper. It happened with me too. I took rickshaw from Chembur Naka to Marol, Miliatary Rd. via Marwah center...Normally it should take around 75 to 80 rs, meter was reading 37 near Ghat kopar bridge though no traffic jam. I told him but he refused to accept. After that meter was reading 63 pretty before sakinaka signal. we were stucked in traffic. Then I compared my rickshaw meter with the one standing next to us. His meter read 34. My rick meter read 64 n then 65 but the one next to to us was still on 34. Then I yelled on rickshawwala n told him that i wanna get off. I got off n paid him 60rs. He took it quietly. I told him to do the needful n his meter will be inspected at any time by the authorities...

auto rickshaw complaints — Faulty Meters
Hi, I travel everyday from Goregaon Station (West) to Inorbit mall in an autorickshaw. It has been noticed a lot of times that the meters used by autorickshaw dirvers are tampered. The usual fare from Goregaon Station (west) to Inorbit mall is approximately Rs 15 to Rs 16. With rickshaws having tampered meters th efare amounts to anything between Rs 19 to Rs 23. Either the waiting meter (at signals) moves faster than usual or the first meter reading (0.10) is charged earlier than it should. I have noted the Rickshaw number (MH02 QA 2823) and driver licence number (177824) of one sch rickshaw driver having a tampered meter. I generally take a rickshaw from Andheri - MIDC to Goregaon. The fare for which comes to Rs.60/- to Rs70/-Yesterday the fare came to Rs.101/-. I argued alot but ultimately paid him.

I think its true with most of the autos now, specially MH03's. I travel daily from Bandra highway till Malad west. Normally if its a fair meter the charge should come around 100 bucks in decent amount of traffic.But off late its been coming around 130-140Rs which I think is incorrect. As one of you had mentioned, no idea if any actions will be taken against the autowallas or not but still would like to pen down the auto numbers whose auto meters I feel were rigged:

I take auto rickshaw daily from poonam nagar, Andheri(E) to Pizza Hut, Powai. It normally costs 35-40 rupees. But, a few auto rickshaw meter reaches 48 or 53. I've taken the number of the rickshaw which had shown 53 in the meter. It's MH03-AAA-3876. He was even rude when i told him that his meter is showing up wrong readings.

Hi,I've taken an auto from Rupena Agrahara(Hosur road) to Tavarakere. Almost daily I'll take auto from there. Normally it ll take Rs30 when they go via madivala, St.Johns Wood till tavarakere bus stop, but on 1st June 2009, it took Rs 40 (5.7 Kms) well before tavarakere bus stop. I had an argument with the driver and just noted down the registration number. It is KA 02 AA 6111. There was no driver details chart on the display inside auto.
Please take necessary actions.

I take an auto rikshaw daily from City Pride, Kothrud, Pune to my office in Sharda Centre. The meter shows around 20-24. but on 7th June, 2009 the meter of the auto MH-12-RA-4764 was 37. When I asked the reason behind it, the auto driver said, "kyu khali pili dimag khate ho, gaadi agar chalega to meter to ghumega hi"(why you are chewing my head, if the vehicle run then obviously the meter will spin). Also would like to mention about the rikshaw stand itself. Sometimes the drivers in this stand refuses to go by meter and asked for a fixed amount. During the auto rikshaw strike, I've paid 50/- daily on those days. On normal days also they frequently ask 30/- directly and refuse to go by meter. Please take some action against these drivers.
i am a residant of sector-17, vashi, navi mumbai..i had gone to Center one mall near vashi station on 24th june, 2009.an auto-rickshaw was standin in front of the mall.when i asked him to go, he asked me the place where i wanna go.i told him a near by place.to this he replied, that his rickshaw is already hired, which was a lie.after a min another customer came to him and he discussed the fare with him and then took him and i am sure it was not his hired party..the time was around 1p.m. and the number of the rickshaw was MH 43 C 7079.so i would request you to please take some action against him..thankyou.
My mom and sister took an Auto in Bangalore from Kamaraj Road to Yelahanka on 12th July 2009 (around 8 PM). The distance is exactly 16.9 kms. I was checking this paralelly by coming in my bike.
As per the standard rates, he should have changred us 119. At the end the meter ended up showing 150.
When we question this, he started using abusive language and was about to man handle us.

Faulty meter in Auto — Faulty meter in Auto
I was travelling from Garuda Mall to Teacher's Colony(Koramangala) which is exactly 8.5 KMS. The meter charge was Rs. 91 which is equivalent to 13 KMs. Got very unlikely responce from the driver when I asked about that. The number was written in Kannada. So was unable to track it. When I tried to take the photo of the number plate, the driver flew away. What I tracked the no was ending with '02-282'. He was a kind of Rowdy... kindly check on rikshaw number MH-02/TA-5009 BEFORE HE LOOTS OTHERS.SANTACRUZ & BANDRA EAST AREA CHANDMANUJA [protected]
Auto No: MH 02 TA 3912. This auto driver misbehaved and was not ready to stop the auto even after repeatedly telling him to. His meter is tampered and was showing fares by Rs 7 more. Please help
I completely agree to this. We should really take a stand on this.
I have been facing auto rickshaw's having really freaking high meters for quite some time now. It is just extremely stressful to keep arguing with these auto rickshaw fellows.
When I tell them let us settle this in the police station; they say "FINE" and after some time they just ask you to get off you are returned back the appropriate change.
But there should be an end to this.
Today morning 7th August 09 I travelled with a friend from Juhu to Santacruz (Arya Samaj) on linking road. The daily fare is Rs.50/- the meter showed Rs.62/- to be paid. Now that is a 20% high meter.

My friend got scared because of the heated argument I had but I really wanted to take the snob to the police station and get his meter right.
I need help and million others too; who face this problem on a daily basis. I need a voice to "Voice Out" this and get Bombay a better place to live in.

I take a rickshaw daily from Mulund to Ghatkopar (E), it comes to an average of 95 rupees, but his faulty meter showed 223, which is gross malpractice. To top it he was arguing aloud on the streets. I paid him 110 finally. Nowadays there is no respect or even courtesy shown to ladies with children. Most have tampered meters and I think ten times before arguing with them.
