Refuse to drop to railway station - okalipuram gate

Hi,
I & my wife were trying to find an auto rickshaw to reach the bangalore city railway station from millers road but the auto drivers would demand 70 - 80 Rs. OR they refuse to come to City railway station (especially to the Okalipuram gate). None of the rickshaw drivers agree to run the meter.
I usually have a chat with these guys making them realise that they are public servants and not businessmen. This time I had no choice but to pay 40 bucks as I had the risk of missing the train. Through my journey to the station, I had a conversation with the auto driver inquiring as why they refuse to come to the station. The points mentioned by him sounded somewhere as a concern to me.
First of all they have to join the prepaid queue once they enter the station premises. They would not get any passenger for a long time and even if they find that would be for a short distance. He said, " Now it is 5-45 PM; if I enter the railway station now, there is not train that arrives for the next 2 hours. Then it will be around 8 o clock. Then I would get a passenger to drop to lingarajpuram. My home is in Giri nagar. Isn't it too far for me to reach home? If I get into the queue around lunch time, then I am in a bigger mess. They would make us wait till the next passenger comes. At times we have to just stand for 2 hours without any work. If we are outside the station, we will get one or the other passenger. Hence we can make our living easily."
What shocked me more was that this guy mentioned that the Traffice police standing at the station would fine them for some or the other reason (best known to them). "It is a true harrasement to us if we enter the railway station. No body cares to take action on such policemen", he added.
When I returned back from my trip, I wanted to reach home in a prepaid auto but I could not find even a single auto in the station and I knew the reason why......
This frustrates commuters, and needs immediate attention about such issues in the city.

Taking High Fares

This is Ratanpal, working as a Lecturer at The M. S. University of Baroda.
On 23/5/2010, I was going to Railway station from my home (Warashia Colony), the auto Rikshaw driver told me that he will take 40 Rupees. There were other auto drivers also every body was telling 40 rupees. the actual fare is around 30 rupees, since everybody told me I sit in one auto having number GJ6 UU 4483, I told him you people are talking too high rates he said politicians are increasing rates of everything and if we take even one more rupee you are talking like we are doing robbery. I said since I will pay 40 rupees, plz down the meter I want to see how is the actual rate, he is meter is not working. This is the situation of all auto drivers. He was telling me that since last 2 hrs he dont have any customer so I said is that my fault? Are you going to recover from me. I don't know the name of the driver, but the number I have mentioned.
Please take some action against the auto driver at Warashia colony (A Block).

forcefully taken fares from public

My Name is jignesh and my office is located at veera desai rd (andheri-west) and in the morning time outside Andheri station there is long queue of BEST buses so people with no other option choose other transport that is Auto and mostly all auto's are fulled and others who are ready to come they tke 30rps per person and they take 4 person in each auto... from andheri station to veera deasi rd its hardly fare is 20-25 rps so with a single journey they earn 90-150 rps... THEY ARE JUST TAKING TOO MUCH AND TAKING BENEFIT OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT... requesting you to take some action on it as soon as possible....

i have cleared my loan

I have clear my total amount of loan before 03 years. But now before 01 month i have recieved a letter of outstanding of sum 6000/ amount of rupees. When i clear my loan amount i got pink colour recipet from dombivli branch.On that it was written full & final payment after that i visited several times in dombivli branch to take my N.O.C to cancelled my H.P. But they told me it will come from our H.O in kolkattta i request you to look in my case as the auto rikshawh is only the way of earning source to my whole family.
when i went to clear the whole amount of loan i verified the amount of 32000/ with dombivli branch manager & after that i paid the amount i request you please help me.

Drunk Auto Driver

On 6th April, I took an Auto from Street no.8, Ramanthapur to Uppal Junction. I asked to start the meter but he didn't and bargained at Rs. 20 upto Uppal junction. I am new in the city and he left me somewhere near Habsiguda and demanded Rs. 30. When didn't gave him the money he hold my collar started abusing in Telugu(which i don't know) and accumulated some persons. Atlast being humiliated I gave him Rs. 40, but he then further he was demanding more.
The driver was drunk and his vehicle number is AP9W6108.

Unjustified Auto Rickshaw fares

It is outrageous how Auto Rickshaws are allowed to take advantage of students in the city of Manipal. Manipal, being a University Town, is inhabited primarily by students. This gives Auto Unions to take advantage of the students, and charge them with outrageous amounts for short distances! There is not an honest Auto Rickshaw driver in town. And, what is worse is the foul temperament of the drivers that the students face when drivers are meet with resistance from students. They do not use the meters provided to them. The Auto Union here is a strong community.
India is the largest democracy in the world. But, we don't see any good coming out of it when such injustices occur daily and NOTHING is done about it.
I request you to not ignore this complaint, and to take it very seriously. We, the students and youth of Manipal want to remain proud of being Indian.

Auto Rickshaw — Ignoring Fare
Dear Sir/Madam,The general public is complaining a lot about the autorickshaw drivers who straight away ignore a fare as they do not want to travel to shorter distances. Its been like an adventure to get a rickshaw in our day-to-day life. I was waiting for more than an hour for a rickshaw to take me to Malwani from Mindspace. There were a lot of ricks outside the building but none of them were willing to travel to Malwani. Finally I decided to walk and luckily got a rick at Meeth Chowki. I have one of the rick number i.e MH 02 SA 8369. There was also a handicapped lady who was waiting for the rick but none of the ricks were helpful.
I hope some actions is taken against this at the earliest. If not then we are just wasting our time complaining about the richshaw drivers.

Rickshaw walas refuse to use meter

There is a rickshaw stand just below my building (Lane opp to Sadal Baba, near Saint Mary church), my office is hardly 3 kms from home. All the rickshaw walas refuse to go by meter and they ask for 30-50 Rs where in by meter it is hardly 20 Rs. They are a group and everyone refuses to go by meter. Moreover because of there monopoly no other auto stops there. Please help me on how to sort out this problem. Daily I need to walk a long distance despite of the autostand nearby. I want to launch a complaint against auto MH 12DT 2917. This guy stands there daily and refuses to use meter asking for extra money

from moti bagh to chanakyapuri auto rickshawala refuses to use meter asked for Rs.40 for 2.6 kms with rude behaviour. No traffic police constable was there. Is there any law to stop these things in delhi...?

This message is for all those who are complaining about faulty meters (overcharging) of auto rickshaws. There is no use writing the Vehicle Regn Nos here. If you really want to do something make a written complaint to the concerned RTO giving all details like Regn No of the vehicle, Travel details like time and point of origin and destination. After sending the letter follow-up till some action is taken by the RTO. Only by this collective...

High amount taken
I had taken an auto from Pune station to Pimple Saudagar (around 16 KM) at 8:30 AM on 2nd March 2010
At the taxi stand he told me that he would take 20 Rs more then meter. After reaching the destination
The meter reading was 16.00 Rs i.e. ( Around 115 Rs apx) He asked me for 180 Rs.
He told me that he would be charging by 10 Rs * meter reading + 20 Rs i.e. 10 * 16 + 20 = 180.
His Auto registration no. was MH 12 RA 5754 and his mobile no. is [protected]. He was not wearing any Badge.

The Rickshaw driver was staring at me the whole journey .
when I reached my destination i had to give 12 RS/- I gave him 7 rs coin + a 5 rupee note .
the note was not so bad . the driver did not take it and started to argue for that note by using vulgar words which normal auto drivers never use it in our locality and I saw him 1st time . he may be drunken .
KALYAN / DOMBIVLI TRAFFIC CONTROL ( W ) should make sure AUTO-RICKSHAW drivers should be sinceir and non-drug addicted to provide social transportation. I request strict action to be taken against this rickshaw driver so that he behaves appropriately to any stranger and that one does not have to face such violent act .

Auto Rickshaw unethical fare
On 23rd I boarded an auto-rickshaw along with my mom from Manipal Hospital. We explained him that I underwent a knee surgery and requested him to drive carefully to HBR Layout. The right fare from Manipal hospital to HBR layout is 110 to 120 rupees [maximum].
In middle of the way, he demanded 250 rupees and looted 150 and dropped us near RMZ building near Ulsoor. Usually it will take not more than 50 rupees from Manipal to Ulsoor. Due to my knee wound, I was not able to fight for a long with him and he took advantage of the injury to loot the money.

I hired an Auto numbered (A 11X 8436) from koti Woman's college main gate, the meter started runing from 1.4 kms. when i reached the DGP Office the meter was 57 rupees. The route is from Ramkoti, straight towards basher bagh x roads, and control room straight towards assembly DGP Office main gate.
According my Knowledge The Auto fare is not correct and the meter is tampered.

Hi,
At Dehu Road (Vikas Nagar) none of the Auto Rickshaw has meters and they demand whatever fare they feel like (say for strech of 1KM, they ask 25.00 Rs).
Moreover when asked about meters they say, this is how it works in Dehu Road. Also I have seem some drivers saying boldy that they don't even have the permit, do whatever you want.
Also I feel some of them are local goons who threaten with dire consequences if we say that we will complain agains their behaviour to RTO.
Can I request the concerned authorities to look into this?

Auto rickshaw fares — Exorbitant demand by auto drivers
Tamilnadu is the only state where auto drivers fleece and harass the public by demanding exorbitant fares, do not follow meter system, behave rudely, refuse to ply and violate traffic rules blatantly, all under the eagle eyes of the Tamilnadu police who claim to be the best.IS THERE NO SOLUTION AT ALL TO THIS AGE-OLD PROBLEM FACED BY THE PEOPLE OF TAMILNADU???
Can the consumer fora do something about it?
This is the fittest case for any consumer forum. They should take it as a challenge and find a solution.
If consumer fora cannot resolve this open issue, it can be declared that there is no consumer movement in our country.
Auto rickshaw fares — Auto Rickshaw and Share Taxi does not have standard fare
Auto Rickshaw and Share Taxi do not have standard fare for plying to desired destinations of the passengers. Auto Rickshaws' charge different fares (fixed) for the same location (e.g. some will charge 25Rs some will charge 30Rs and so on.).My request is to please look into this matter and have the rates standard, so the Auto Rickshaw owners and the passengers will not have to suffer

Respected Sir,
I want to lodge a complaint against all the Auto walas standing opposite D-Mart (Link Road, Malad).They always refuse to take us at malad station. When we ask the reason they abuse us. Also there are many Auto walas at malad station as well who refuse to travel for the short distance. Now onwards i will note down the numbers of Autowalas who refuses and will forward the same to you. Meanwhile please do something for the same..

Demand of excess fair and misbehaviour of auto rickshaw driver
Hi,
This is to register a complaint against the driver of autorickshaw KA-04 A6617.
The auto driver demanded INR 50/- for the distance covered of less than 1 KM. When I offered him INR 30/- (when the original fair is INR 14/-), he started using all abusive and foul languages possible. He tried abusing me physically as well. I immediately dialed at 100 from my mobile and at that moment signal went green and he drove away.
This incident happened near Hotel President in Jayanagar 3rd block, Bangalore on 22nd Dec'09. It is with great faith in the system that I am reporting this incident here in this forum. Kindly direct us to appropriate authorities who can take care of such people as they definitely are a threat to normal people traveling on the roads. They definitely need to be punished for such behaviour.

misbehaviour of auto rickshaw drivers — misbehaviour ,abusing languages used by autoriksha drivers
I am a doctor by profession and i am working in pune, i ignored many a times at last out of frustration i am submitting this complain, i saw previous complain but dont think so any action is being taken against these autoriksha drivers, my complain is bulk of so many incidences i am writting down here,1) once i went to buy certain things from more supermarket, hadapsar, and it was too sunny that day, i thought of taking an auto n go back, i stayin hadapsar only. i asked auto people standing in front of more, many of them did not agree, and those who agreed asked me to pay 40rs, but according to meter it costs only 15 rs, then i denied n went ahead, i saw line auto in front of noble hospital, they were chit chatting and when i asked, many of them said no and those who agreed asked me same 40rs, i was feeling giddy so atlast i paid them what they asked,
This happend not only with me if an investigating team does a survey, then 90 percent of public will complain about it, these autoriksha people in front of more, hadapsar, noble hospital hadapsar, big bazar fatima nagar, they all do like this, and purposly they do like this because they know people are helpless in these places,
2)my next complain is, once when i was comming from shangad road, i asked one autowala to drop me swargate in front of hadapsar bus stand, its been 4 months tat hadapsar bus stand has moved in front of vega centre, the amount came in metre was 23, i did not have change so i asked him to keep 22 rs, as manytimes we pay 1 rs extra also, but he did not agree, and he forced me to get change and pay him tat 1rs also, i am a lady, 1st of all he did not have any respect for ladies, he forced me to get change, anyway i agreed, i got the change and gave him, and when i gave him he started arguing with me that i paid him less and all, and mixed up everything and took extra 4 rs, its not the question of 4rs, he behaved very rude, he spoke to me in 3dr class language, tu de paise lake, tu deti hai ki nai, rakh apne paise and all, he kept using tu tu and very rough, i was adressing him aap, many conductors were there but non of them stand by me, i am a girl i cant do hand fight with them, this is the only way we can stand against them, is this a way they should behave with a doctor,
out of 100, 90 percent autoriksha people behave the same way and if somebody oppose, then they come in groups and beat them and all,
if this is the way then its better to stop all this autoriksha and start ladies 6 seater everywhere, we ladies go through alot, i am a well educated person when they can behave with a doctor like this then what not they must be behaving with village and old people and all,
uptill now no serious action has been taken against them, many a time i read in news paper with photos and all but action taken yet, they are not scared of police at all, once when i threaten one auto riksha about police, then he replied me "police kya ukhad legi mera, "he argued so much that my mind became so hot that i could not note down his auto number, we are all general public nobody wants tension in life,
my kind request is after so many harasment i am writting down this complain, please take some serious action against these entire autoriksha community, they really need a big lession, they should be scared of police and rules, and their behaviour should be gentle with customers specially with ladies

Autorickshaw — Drivers demanding excessive fare
I got down at Anandarao circle in Bangalore and wanted to take a rickshaw to Sahakaranagar. Driver R. Ramu (Badge # 7017, Auto # KA-04 B9950), demanded fare of Rs. 200 and refused to use the meter saying that his meter is not working. The normal fare is around Rs. 100. 10 - 15 other drivers were supporting Mr. Ramu and said that none of them are ready to take me to Sahakaranagar for a price less than Rs. 150. This is very irritating and unfair to the consumer - I am hoping that by reporting this incident, some action will be taken. Helpful

Auto Rikshaw Fare
Dear Govt. Representetive,
I am a Mumbai resident & daily travelling in auto from my home (Jogeshwari) to work (Kurla). I had observed the Auto Frae Meter varies from 75 to 100. How I can know what I am paying is correct? I am a Mumbai resident & daily travelling in auto from my home (Jogeshwari) to work (Kurla). I had observed the Auto Frae Meter varies from 75 to 100. How I can know what I am paying is correct? Meter Charges
COMPLAINT:- Rikshaw Drivers offten cheat people by charging excess fare..They don't show "Meter Card" if asked by any passenger. Also there is a big misconception in minds of people in mumbai that what ever amount is shown on meter we have to substract one rupee and that's the correct auto fare..
SUGGESTION:- It should be made compulsory rule to all the auto rikshaws to paste "Meter Card" on the backside of driver's seat. So that each passenger can check the Meter Card and make payment accordingly. It is the best and easiest way I feel...

Meter Tampering
On Friday 25th September 2009 i took an auto, register number KA03A278 from Banaswadi to 100ft road 12th main junction, Indiranagar. I travel this distance on a daily basis and the regular metre fair is Rs. 37. On this day the auto meter ,(KA03A278) driven by Nityananda, came up to Rs.50. On informing him of the considerable distance on getting out of the auto, as well as when the meter changed before hand, which was at 1.5kms as against the regular 2kms for Rs.14 He insisted that the meter comes up to more and later refused to return my change when asked to come to the police station.

Dear Sirs,
I wish to register a complaint of an autorickshaw driver. His Auto No. is MH 43 C 2801.
I daily travel by Auto Rickshaw from my Residence (Kopar Khairane, Navi Mumbai) to my Office (Near Millennium Business Park). Every day I pay a fare of Rs. 44/- while the meter is only Rs.34/-( All the rickshaws here demand either half of the return fare as extra or Rs.10/ as extra i.e.,above the fare shown by the meter)
I took rickshaw from my Residence. As I was passing by, I saw that his meter was running fast & when I reached near Kopar Khairane Station, I saw that his meter had already crossed Rs25/-. I told him that his meter is tampered & I am a daily commuter so I know the exact meter fare. This is not the first time that i've traveled by his rickshaw . Unfortunately i had to take the same twice before and i had warned the driver on meter tampering on both the occasions.
Request you to kindly look into the matter (and also on the Navi Mumbai Auto Rickshaw drivers charging very heavily as extra fare on meter for travel to M.B.P.) at the earliest & take a stern action immediately.

I have faced similar problems quiet often. But i have noted one pecularity, this has started to happen in all autorickshaws, from Jun / Jul onwards.
I regularly travel from vikroli to L&T via the Kailash complex. Till Jun / Jul my meter used to be anywhere between 45 - 50 rs. But these days almost all autos show the meter as 54 - 56 rs. Though I never argue, i just give 45 / 50 rs based on my perception of traffic and walk away.
But the point is, is it a combined move by all auto wallahs. Moreover, one auto wallah told me, " Sir, taxi ka bhada bada diyaa hamaraa nahi badaya, to meter fast karnaa hi padega na". They are on CNG for god sake, they dont have operating cost as earlier.
This is serious stuff, i think consumer complaints forum should take serious note of this,

This is to bring to your notice that 75% of autos have tampered their meter. I am a daily commuter from Koramangala to Basavangudi and return. Surprisingly even the digital meters are incorrect. Just want to highlight yesterday evenining's incident after the strike in the evening while getting back home from Basavangudi by auto no. KA 05 3507 (digitial meter) the meter was almost 10-12 Rs. more, when enquired is the meter fast the auto driver started abusing and did not agree that his metr was fast. I had to get down half way thru'. It is really painful to experience such things almost every day. I am sure most of the people are facing these problems. There are some genuine auto drivers who accept their fault and charge actuals but tampering is done no excuse on that.
My humble request to the concerned authorities to streamline all the autos with perfect meters and smart card which is very very important.

When I travelled from Majestic to Jayanagar 4th block in night 10:22 pm the meter reading showed abnormally (showed 147 Rs). Normally reading will be less than rs 60/-. When I asked the driver about the tampering he did not agree more over he demanded rs 225/- (147 + 78). I was unable to argue with him as I don't know his mother tongue. I paid him whatever he demanded. I was able to note his vehicle number KA05AB1424. Date:[protected] Picked up : 22:22 Dropped : 22:49.

tampered auto meter in hyderabad, with registration AP9W2060
Hi,
I regularly travel from Fruit market, kothapet to Panjagutta Mahindra show room. Usually the fare ranges from 96-100 rupees.
But the auto I travelled today was showing 119/- a difference of nearly 20 rupees. As the meter was showing wrong reading I argued with the driver and asked him to stop after 4Kms. I said I travel regularly and the cost is never more than 100/-. I told him that I was not going to pay him any more than that and eventually I only paid 100/-.
But the meter was showing a difference of 20 rupees which is not acceptable.
Any person who is not aware of the distance or price will have to pay more.
I request you to please look into this matter seriously.
Is this the forum to lodge a complaint or there is another way of doing it? I remember that we can make a complaint by calling a telephone number, whick I lost. Anyone have any Idea about this?

This is the incident happen on 17th October 2010 on the eve of Deshara...due to festival Apsrtc busses were less and also there were less auto moving on the road..i was standing on the main road of Lothkunta secunderabad..and asked one of the auto no.AP28 tb1809 to drop me house which was hardly 2 - 3 Kms.then the driver asked me to pay 120Rs for very less distance when i said i regularly travel with not more that 20rs then the driver said as today is festival and also very less autos it your wish to travel or not... this is really very un justice happen with me..

Auto Rickshaw Drivers becoming a threat to Bangalore Inter Travel
Hi,
I am new person to bangalore and even don’t know the language but able to communicate in Hindi and English and mange my travel . But I am really having a bad experience and hard time when I have to travel in Auto Ricksha . The Inter city mode of transport people (Auto Ricksha) are just misleading or exploiting the traveler’s it really makes feel bad about this experience about Bangalore.
Below is my experience on 28/08/09
I had hired a Auto Ricksha and asked the driver that I had to Depart from Agra (HSR layout) and wanted to Arrive at ARC and wanted to come back at Agra (HSR layout) and it was 7:00 am in the morning this driver demands for 300 rs I had no idea but to work it smart I said no than he says as per meter and than he says you have to give 20 rs extra I said fine as I was in hurry to receive my friend, who was again new to this city, so we carried our journey now when we decided on the travel, this rickshaw drivers try to act smart by asking should I take this route or should I take right or left or straight to understand if we know the route, it looks sometimes like telling them sit behind I will take you there……! when reached and received my friend this person tells me that there was some problem with the meter and than starts arguing in Hindi than some other drivers gathered they started conversation in Kannada and the driver is saying it was 130 rs from Agra (HSR layout) to ARC and my perverse experience was I had paid 110 rs ( 95 rs was the actual fare and than they want extra money since they have come so far) so I told him about that than the other Auto Ricksha drivers said in Kannad that it would 94 to 99 rs not more than that in Kannad my friend knew kannad he understood that but then this fellow still demanded for 130 rs and plus 20 rs extra incase I had change the Auto Ricksha and there many other drivers just waiting to Slaughter my pockets so I thought of taking the same and decided on a price were he said pay me 260 rs I drop you back . With no option left went with him and now his meter in shut because before he had taken me from Agra, Kormangla, Adugudi…….ARC but while coming he took it from some other route which much shorter than before .
There are many of them who are facing this problem, but may don’t have time from their busy work schedule or fear or may don’t know where to address this issue. Even I done know if I am at the right place. I am not asking for refund but just want Bangalore to be free from such Auto drivers. Now travelling in Auto Richsha is not safe and need loads of money.
There was Another bad experience from Madiwala to Agra(HSR layout) 29/08/09
I had actually boarded a bus from MG road due to my privies experience to go to Agra and was dropped at the nearest destination at Midiwala from there it 2 KM that what bus conductor said . I got down and again was looking out for Auto Richsha and as usual they also wait to slaughter and I came across one person it was 2:00 pm an Old guy may be 55 yrs and I asked him I need to go to Agra he says 50 rs I said no than looking at my friend (Girl) and says Taj Mahal Agra its far and rushes his auto giving a dirty look at my friend. Then I get another Auto Rickshaw guy who says yes and then after a distance started misguiding when asked where are u taking boss he says sorry I got confused and then after going ahead says should I take left or right and then this meter says 45 rs . This is the face of Bangalore Auto Ricksha Drivers.
I know even you cannot help with the above experience but I would like to contribute the below experience this may be something that you can cover or help Bangalore to be know for a faith in Auto Ricksha guys or how to make travel safe and best in Bangalore.
Auto Ricksha Drivers:-
License are not displayed,
They don’t display their license, If displayed the dates are expired and that too from months to years not renewed, If in proper state than that license done belong to that driver, someone else.
Since wrong Name,
No identity proof becomes unsafe and it’s very difficult tomorrow to believe or travel. I hope tomorrow it doesn’t starts becoming difficult for citizens to travel late nights and reaching safe home. We shouldn’t wait till we experience it if possible take precautions beforehand.
The Meter’s
There are 2 meters that are usually seen one is Digital and the other one is the simple one. The normal meters which usually calculates 5 or more rs more than the Digital, it looks simple but frankly very scary one. The fact is they should band the simple ones and get all of them Digital ones, if someone ones to fight or ask for the distance in Kilometer the Digital helps as it gives all the information from the fare to Distance travelled as well.
Hope you can come with some help I don’t expect solution because that again is left to the transport Minister and Auto Ricksha Union . I didn’t wanted to display my name so using a fake ID.

yes auto rick drivers have become very very rude and also charging too much fare, today i travelled from my place to kammanahalli and it costed me 23 to kammanahalli and 29 rupees while coming back, from magestic it costed 300 rupees while it costs only 150, the drivers act very rude if we ask them for justice, veru very bad behavior and they use very worst languages too, so i request you to take action on a few drivers and others will automically take care. . .

Please look into it, if any action is not taken people who visited this complaint do not use this auto, he is charging double than actual.

I traveled from Swargate (bypass) to Baner Road. The meter started off with 10 Kms reading. And when asked about it, he said that the meter always starts with 10 kms. Now the end reading was 32 Kms, which I am sure is not the correct distance between Swargate and Baner. Finally, he showed some very old Meter Rating card and charged me Rs. 400/- at morning 6 a.m saying its 1.5 times meter charge.
The rickshaw number is MH 12 Q 4383.
Please take the necessary action.

I was travelling by auto from link road jogeshwari to viklhroli west station. usually it takes 40-45 rs to reach there. the auto wala charged 70 rs which i didnt pay. failing which the auto person started to fight. these are culprits who needs to be punished. pl take care of the complain and take necessary action against him, so that he doesnt cheat other innocent people. his auto number is MH 03-R-9185. Also forward me the progress of the case
I have travelled this morning from Contonment to hebbal dasarahalli in an auto baring Number KA-02 B-9812 and the charge reached Rs. 114 when the same done 3 days back costed only Rs. 83.

Faulty Rickshaw Meters
It is very common these days to come across rickshaws with tampered meters. Though the rickshaw drivers dont acknowledge that they have actually tampered with the meters, they eventually accept the correct fare that is given to them.
However there are a few who dont accept it. I came across one such rickshaw driver (Vehicle registration no. MH 03 AK 3865) in Bandra. I had taken the Rickshaw from Bandra station (West) to go to Turner Road junction near Pot Pourri where I had to pick up a document from one of my clients and then back to Bandra station. When I reached my clients place I felt that the meter was a little fast. I regularly visit this client and know that the charge is Rs.10 to reach there from bandra station. In this case however the meter was reading Rs.13. I went up into the building, took the documents without going inside the house and came down within a minute, during which time the meter was reading Rs.17. I got inside and started for Bandra station. We would have covered 200 metres and the meter was now reading Rs.22.
This meter was definitely tampered with and when I told the rickshaw driver that his meter was running too fast and I will not pay him according to this faulty meter he stopped the rickshaw and refused to go ahead. I told him that he can take the rickshaw to RTO or police station and we will see if the meter is working properly. To this he flatly refused and started abusing me and saying things like "Aukat nahi hai to Rickshaw mein kyon baithte ho" and also started swearing obscenities.
Finally I paid him the money, took down his registration number and walked more than half the distance to the station.
Such elements of the society take advantage of the customers with the knowledge that the educated people would not want to create a scene on the streets. I seriously want this guy to be brought to task.
However there are a few who dont accept it. I came across one such rickshaw driver (Vehicle registration no. MH 03 AK 3865) in Bandra. I had taken the Rickshaw from Bandra station (West) to go to Turner Road junction near Pot Pourri where I had to pick up a document from one of my clients and then back to Bandra station. When I reached my clients place I felt that the meter was a little fast. I regularly visit this client and know that the charge is Rs.10 to reach there from bandra station. In this case however the meter was reading Rs.13. I went up into the building, took the documents without going inside the house and came down within a minute, during which time the meter was reading Rs.17. I got inside and started for Bandra station. We would have covered 200 metres and the meter was now reading Rs.22.
This meter was definitely tampered with and when I told the rickshaw driver that his meter was running too fast and I will not pay him according to this faulty meter he stopped the rickshaw and refused to go ahead. I told him that he can take the rickshaw to RTO or police station and we will see if the meter is working properly. To this he flatly refused and started abusing me and saying things like "Aukat nahi hai to Rickshaw mein kyon baithte ho" and also started swearing obscenities.
Finally I paid him the money, took down his registration number and walked more than half the distance to the station.
Such elements of the society take advantage of the customers with the knowledge that the educated people would not want to create a scene on the streets. I seriously want this guy to be brought to task.

Dear Sir/ Maam,
I boarded an auto from Panchsheel red light for Okhla ph3 @Rs 50. The driver asked another passenger to join in to be dropped on the way at Savitri cinema for Rs 20.
He asked the person to sit in the auto without my permission and after he dropped me, when I questioned him for the same, he started abusing and saying derogatory things.
I told him he can't charge 70 bucks for such a short drive and he should ideally devide Rs 50 amongst both the paseemgers, however, he refused to do so and instead started shouting.

Request you to please take neccessary action against him.

Auto rickshaw deny to travel
The auto rickshaws at malad goregaon stations (west) deny taking a fare most of the times. They either rush away with half or full meter down. If not the case they deny a fare. About 80% of the crowd travels to in orbit, hyper city, mind space and Toyota. We need to spend at least 15 -20 mins to get a rickshaw. because of this trouble ppl have started sharing the autos and the rickshaw drivers object to that.I have complained at the local police station and also the RTO but to no heed. At times we have seen the traffic hawaldars around but they are busy eating or talking amongst themselves.

Try taking a rick from andheri (station-west) S.V road, to anywhere (Andheri east, vile-parle, shopper's stop, Amboli, Jogeshwari station, lokhandwala... they just blankly refuse... and keep turning around in circles empty... till they get someone to go a really llloooonnnngggg distance...
WHY is there no cop to get them going, and remind them what they are there for...rather then the public getting into fights with them all the time...please do something, just do not ignore these complains, for we put in a lot of time and effort even for this.

Tampered Auto Rickshaw Meter at Hyderabad
Those who are travelling in Autos in Hyderabad regularly can imagine how the auto drivers are cheating though the transport department claims that the digital meters are tamper proof.
I regularly travel from Kachiguda to Panjagutta central by Auto which costs me between Rs.50 to 55 as the distance is between 7 to 7.5 km. Today (16th July 2009) I travelled by an auto with Regd no - AP13 W- 3358 and the distance came around 10.2 km and the fair Rs. 75/-. I made arguments but still had to pay the amount.
I asked an electronic mechanic about this...How this tampering is done. He said and I quote "Its very easy to do. An Integrated Circuit (IC) board in the auto that acted as a tampering machine. The IC board, placed inside the music system or somewhere convenient, is connected to the wire running from the digital meter, at a point under the auto-rickshaw. The IC board used is a waste TV board, electrically circuited by a radio mechanic.A small device is connected to the IC board, using which the driver can control the meter. According to Abbas, the device can be fitted anywhere the auto-driver likes and the cost of this entire contraption: only Rs 400."

I am a daily passenger from Ballabgarh to New Delhi and have been observing the rough attitude of the Railway police for quiet a long period now.While travelling in the evening, on EMU GDP 06 or HNH1, we daily face so many problems owing to the neglect duties by the RP staff. The ladies compartment, reserved for the ladies PER SAY also resemble the general compartment as the compartment is mostly occupied by men and if we ask them to get down they backfire in abusive language.
Is this not the duty of RP officers to offer security to the passengers? Do they not owe just this small a courtesy to us???
I fully agree to this...There is auto meter tampering in more than 70% of the autos.

I read from internet regarding an old interview of Deputy Controller, legal metrology department, Mr. Ram Kumar (7 December 2004 and I don't know whether he is heading that now or not) regarding increased instances of tampered meters. He had mentioned a tel no[protected] in which one can complain regarding tampered meter between 8 am to 8 pm. I called that no and was redirected to another no[protected] to make complain.
I called the the no then[protected]. The person was cooperative and lodged complain on the auto-rickshaw no. And gave me tips which I am writing for everyone's knowledge.
Tip-1: If you face situation like this, call to[protected] at the auto driver presence.
Tip-2: Find out any traffic police nearby and just orally lodge the complain. The traffic police will siege the documents and will send the driver to Metrology department to verify the meter.
Hope this will workout.

From Goregoan to Bhandup rickshow meter shows 9.00 to 10.00.Today on 28.01.2010. i been to bhandup in Rick. NO. MH 03 V 5557. at 2.30p.m. most of the time i pay less than Rs.100 today i endup paying Rs.120. Due to official work i most of the time visit between Goregoan to Bhandup I have seen out of 10 rick. 7 rickshows Meters are fast. No Starts fm. MH 03 falls in the 7once. I hope RTO dept. do some kind of Sudden Checks to find out corrept meters. new digital meters are even performs the same way. there are so many meter repairing shop in city who may be doing some setting change with the meter after RTO Dept. passing. in both kind of meters. Dear Higher Authority,I travel from banaswadi to Mahadevpura everyday for work. I usually travel by Auto. the correct meter charge should be INR 40 on a 14 rupees meter and INR50 on a 17 rupees meter.
The Auto i got today was a cheat. He had tampered his meter to read a higher amount. On a 14 rupees meter his meter read INR 52 which amounts to INR 67 on a 17 rupees meter. i had to pay 17 rupees extra. That rascal auto driver didnt even return 3 rupees back to me.
THE AUTO NUMBER WAS KA 05 7540.
Please take him to task and fine him 10 times the addidtional amount that he took from me.

Today[protected]wednesDAY) I travelled by an Auto rickshaw from Ho.D-2, Madhuranagar near Yousuf guda to end of street no.1 of Tarnaka(below flyover) and the meter showed 14.0 KM Rs 97.40 which is the correct fare.Again I returned by the same route from stno.1 to D-2 madhuranagar by Auto no.AP 12 V -3515(owner-Mohd. Ahmed) and the Auto showed 16.5 KM and RS.114.60.i informed the driver that his meter is tampered but he demanded and took rs.115/ for the return trip made at 5-pm on[protected]. please verify the meter of AP12V 3515 which is nearly 18% excess over the mileage and also Fare.

On Mondy 21st March as usual i took an auto (Auto No.AP 10 U 7309) from my locality (thats Thirimalghiri, Manas Sarovar Heights Phase-1 ) to Ramakrishna Math, Domalguda. Me regularly travelling to this place i m sure of the distance as well as the fare which is 9.2 KM and costs 75/- But on that day the meter showed 11 KM (though i stopped the auto much before i had reached my destination...some public meeting was going on the road)..i had to pay 90/- I felt like cheated.

Auto fair — Tampered Meter
Auto No. MH03-D-6531 meter is tampered. Normal fair from Amar Mahal comes to Rs. 50 (i.e. meter down 38-41). But this auto meter was down at 47, wereas regular meter is between 38-41. For last 4 months, we travalled to DLF office by Share Auto's (Kondapur to DLF Gachibowli), Hyderabad. Charges per head worth Rs 15 (Kondapur to DLF Gachibowli) and Rs 20 (CyberTower to DLF Gachibowli). Distance is short and hardly less than 2 mins to reach at ridiculous price. We keep complaining this many times. Seems like police not bothering abt this. Need strict action against all auto's in hyderabad.

my story is also same with little bit of difference. i traveled from gandhi hospital to GVK ONE mall(banjara hills rd no 1)on 25th jan 2013. the distance is around 9 km and fair rs 90, ok good.
on return trip, it was 9.45 pm on the same day, there was a huge traffic, finally i found an auto, and the autowala asked me half on meter and i said ok because of the traffic and the time. and after 4 km the meter showed 100 rs ( 100 rs for 4 km ) and I asked the autodriver about that, for half minute he argued with me that the distance we traveled was more than that, and became silent, continued driving.
i was constantly watching the meter and it began to slow down, from that point to my destination is 5 km, meter went from 100 to 140 ( here 40 for 5 km ). after reaching my destination he took 210 rs from me( half on meter 140 + 70 ) my 2 minutes of argument was of no use!!

But today it was around 21km. I argued with the driver but no use and I had to pay the amount of 225rupees. The driver did not care even i told to complain on him. The help no.s which are in the auto were not working. Even i am a post graduate i was cheated then what about the others...just imagine...plz take a proper action...

Auto drivers at Dahisar Check Naka & ignorant cops
Respected sir/madam,
Trusting that action will be taken against this grieveance.
We have to face trouble from dahisar check-naka to reach mira gaothan(precisely hermitage society) almost on daily basis.Partially have to blame the worse road conditions which the government servants ignore to maintain it.
Today evening at 8.15 pm, completely exhausted after a stressful day at work i requested literally 15 autos but none of them agreed to come to hermitage society. We are not asking for a free ride infact we are paying for it.One local stall-fellow pitied on me & suggested to speak to the havaldar standing few feets away.
I did approach this havaldar (didnt notice his name but a stout fellow) but he was so ignorant that he didnt bother to help me & tried avoiding. Believe me i pitied this havaldar thought he is the one who requires more help than me. I guess the entire system requires some kind of assistance to improve themselves.
These might seem to you a small thing but end of the day common people like us suffer & that is the reason we dont want to believe any government or public servant.
WE ARE REALLY TIRED.We can't even avoid as its not walkable distance.
Please come up with some solution to this. I am sure 90% of the crowd in our society who do not own vehicle face this problem.
This issue is from several years but finally i decided to search in google where to lodge a complaint & managed to track this forum.
Also let me know if we can call up & lodge a complaint. i have already mentioned my email id.

Today evening at 8.15 pm, completely exhausted after a stressful day at work i requested literally 15 autos but none of them agreed to come to hermitage society. We are not asking for a free ride infact we are paying for it.One local stall-fellow pitied on me & suggested to speak to the havaldar standing few feets away.
I did approach this havaldar (didnt notice his name but a stout fellow) but he was so ignorant that he didnt bother to help me & tried avoiding. Believe me i pitied this havaldar thought he is the one who requires more help than me. I guess the entire system requires some kind of assistance to improve themselves.
These might seem to you a small thing but end of the day common people like us suffer & that is the reason we dont want to believe any government or public servant.
WE ARE REALLY TIRED.We can't even avoid as its not walkable distance.
Please come up with some solution to this. I am sure 90% of the crowd in our society who do not own vehicle face this problem.
This issue is from several years but finally i decided to search in google where to lodge a complaint & managed to track this forum.
Also let me know if we can call up & lodge a complaint. i have already mentioned my email id.

I second to Ms. Supreetha's Complaint.
i think every one facing the problem since so many years. it advicable to take up matter with both muncipal corp and transport minister to resolve the problem.
jointly (all people who are traveling thro naka) we have to collectively sign the letter and send to mister and municipal corp. and copy to area corporator.

I suggest you call the police number on 100 and inform them to come and give the auto wallah a lesson. The beat police is different to the hawaldar.

AUTO Riksha in mayur vihar noida modh
Yesterday i reach home from office at around 8:00 O'clock in the evening, while going by way to home from Noida Modh bus stop (mahavila bus stop) some auto wala were their, who through something on me i don't know what was that stone or something else they hit me twice on my back the sound was so loud, that we thought tyre get blast, but then i some to releise that somebody has hit me.
and they all were saying waha deko waha deko, please do something about auto walas it is very unsafe to go home alone from their.
Please remove auto stand from their or higher police wala's over their.

Auto Rickshaw Pune
Hi,
I am Kavita stays in Pune. I had gone to Ratnagiri for 3 days and arrived Pune Today (30th June 2009) at 5:10 AM. We got down at Swargate. We hired a auto rickshaw for Wanowrie (Kedari Garden) from Swargate. When we arrived the destination the meter reading was 7.00. I asked driver how much I have to pay. He said whatever you pay usually. I calculated the bill according to new tariff i.e. 7*7+3 = 52 + 50% night charge. But he said we are taking 10Rs/km. I argued that according to new tariff it is 10 Rs for first km and then 7Rs/km for subsequent km. Then he showed us a tariff card according to which for 7 km it was 98 Rs. I was doubted that card was fraud. But since it was early morning time I paid him 150 RS (98+50 (night charge)) for 7 km meter reading.
Even though RTO has raised new tariff, the auto rickshaw drivers are not charging according to new tariff. We always end up paying extra charges to them. The tariff card they shows are manipulated by them and they are charging whatever they want. There must be some rule which ensures that auto rickshaws are charging us according to new tariff and the new tariff should be known to each and every people who are using rickshwas. Many time people end up in paying more money because they don't want to argue with these people and these drivers are taking advantage of them.

I also paid same 10 Rs per km for the entire 14 Kms and also they charged me 75 Rs extra for my luggage.

The auto rickshaw no MH 12 AQ 2383meter was tampered I found charged more on reaching my destination.Please take proper measure.
Today I travelled from Hinjewadi flyover to pimple saudagar, auto rickshaw driver told me that it is 14 km and he will take 150 so I asked to put the meter on and I will pay 150, when I reached it was not more than 5.8 km...so I told him that it is not half the distance.

I was travelling from Lokmanya Tilak with my mother at 11:15 PM to goregaon, just before Hub the auto wala ( he was with one more helper) stops the auto on the flyover and says u need to change, i tell him u get me othe rick.. in the mean time the helper of autowala see the bill it is 105, i give him 100 rupees which was little torn, he does nt accept, i ask him do u have change of 500, he says yes as soon as i give him and ask for 5 rupees...

Over charging by Auto Rikshaw

I took an auto rikshaw No. MH-03 AK-1570 from BARC Anushakti Nagar, chembur at 6.15 PM on 8th May 09 to go to my residence at Lokhandwala Township, Kandivli East and reached at 7.45 PM. The route taken was BARC-Sion Station-Dharavi-Bandra East-western Express Highway-Kandivli east. On reaching the Auto meter showed 30.90. This was obviously too high hence I argued with the Auto driver and tried to convince him but he in turn used abusive language and made scene in front of my colony and finally I had to pay Rs. 308.00. Normal tarrif in this route is Rs. 165 to Rs. 175 as I have been travelling in this route for the past three days.
The Auto driver has over charged me and I am sure the meter is tampered to show more.
I request that a stern action be taken against this auto driver immediately so that he does not cheat customers any more.

In Gujarat CNG Price is reduced to around 43rs/Ltr however Rickshaw Drivers are taking fare according to exist price of CNG 56rs.
Whenever there is hike on price since next day of hike, they start to take extra charges without waiting of New Rate Card.
As since approx last 6 months they are taking extra charge as per 56rs as statin they dint receive new Rate Card.
Request you to look into this & do the needful.

We sometimes leave late from office. And are always in hurry to go home. In such situations, instead of helping us - rickawalas who wait outside the premises, they show us attitude. If we say we want to go to goregaon station (From IT Park in Goregaon east itself) they say 'NO'. If we say Borivli still they say 'NO'.Please do something as it is not in our hands. They have anyways increased their fare which is a big pinch for our small pockets.
