[Resolved]  ICICI Bank — Credit Card dispute

Hi,

I am Karukkuvel Rajan from Chennai. I have a very bad experience with ICICI credit card department and their services towards its customers.

I had a Platinum credit card and I was using it for quite a long time. I am a genuine payer and I pay my dues on time much before the due dates. On 18/08/2008, I had lost my card in an exhibition in Chennai. The person took the card is from the shop in which I made my final purchase. After I reach home around 10 pm night, I got a message that I made a purchase for Rs.48500 and then only I realized that my card was lost.
Immediately, the same night I went to that exhibition back again and enquired in that shop where I had made my final purchase. I asked for the lost card and the guy from that shop told me that he found that card and surrendered in that exhibition’s office. I went with him and checked in the office room and he could not show to whom he gave that card. That night they were closing the exhibition and packing their things. So I could not do much and I collected the contact number of that guy who had saw my card last. Back home I called customer care and blocked my card during that night itself. The customer care told me that the person who has used my card swiped the card for Rs. 1 three times in a different swiping machine in that same exhibition and after confirming that he can use the card he swiped the card and bought a laptop for Rs. 48500.

Then the next day(19/08/2008) morning I went to police station and I made complain about my loss of card. The inspector(Mr.Lawrence) asked me who is the last person who saw my card and I had mentioned that guy(his name is Manzoor) and inspector wanted to speak to that guy. So I called him and gave the phone to the inspector and inspector started to threaten him since he is the person who saw the card last, he has to come to that station and answer them. But he was saying he is on the way back to Bangalore and he cannot come. But inspector insisted him to come and threatened him like he will send Bangalore police to his home for enquiry. Then he was saying like he will try to come in a day or two. Then I collected the FIR copy and came home. Same day(19/08/2008) I had I applied the dispute in ICICI website.

That day(19/08/2008), I started getting messages from that guy Manzoor who has accepted that he made a mistake and he is the one who had took my card and bought the laptop. He was asking apology and begged me not to file complaint. He was saying his father will die if he comes to know about this misconduct. I had told him to pay the money and then I will withdraw my complaint. And he promised that he will pay the money in a week. As promised he deposited Rs. 10,000 to my credit card number. And on 26/08/2008 he deposited another Rs. 20,000. That week representative from ICICI came home and asked me to fill dispute forms and collected the FIR copy and contact numbers of Manzoor. And that representative promised that ICICI bank will take care of collecting the remaining due Rs.18503 from that guy Manzoor. I told inspector Lawrence and he also confirmed me that bank will take care from there on since I had given them enough proofs to the bank.

On 30/08/2008, I had received a letter from ICICI bank stating about my disputed transactions and they have initiated resolution of my complaint and a temporary fraud credit will be done. The case reference number is SR77828655. In that letter itself they had mentioned that “You will be pleased to know that we are temporarily reversing the charges billed to your account towards the disputed transactions. This credit will reflect in your next statement. If the complaint is resolved in your favour, we will make the reversals permanent”.

On 02/09/2008, I have a received a temporary credit of Rs.48503 to my card. Later on 15/09/2008, I had received another letter from ICICI bank saying that “We are pleased to inform you that the dispute is resolved in your favour”. On that day(15/09/2008) they have debited my card account for same Rs. 48503. But since they had confirmed me that these disputes are resolved in my favour they should have reversed only Rs.30,000 which I had recovered. Then I would not have anything pending in that card and dispute would have been closed on that day. From that day onwards

I tried to reach customer service asked them to reverse the transaction correctly and nobody took response and corrected.
I approached ICICI bank, Regional office in Chennai and wrote emails to customer care. They kept on saying since I blocked my card after the card has been used I should pay the amount. But they are not answering for the letter which they had given me saying that the dispute is resolved in my favour. Now they have blocked my two savings accounts with them. ICICI have spoiled my reputation. For their mistakes I am suffering with CIBIL score and not getting new loans even though I earn more than 1Lakh per month. I checked with a local civil lawyer and he had confirmed me that my side it is clear and I can file a case if I wish to. But I want to clear this trouble without going to court etc. The current due for Rs. 18,500 is Rs. 65,154..ICICI bank asking me to pay a settledment of Rs 26,000 for the disputed transactions which I did not concurr.

Can someone help me how do I get these people understand ask them to reverse the transactions correctly. Should I file a consumer case against them? Please advise.

ICICI Bank Credit Card — Payment Dispute for the lost card

I am residing in Bangalore. I lost my Credit Card of ICICI Bank on 4th November 2007 and it was swiped by someone at two shops in Bangalore only between 5:15 pm to 6:00 pm. The total amount used was Rs.19, 746.00. After that I immediately called the ICICI Customer Care and blocked the Card. I also informed the nearest Police Station for lost card and they gave me an acknowledgment for the complaint. After that with the help of ICICI Customer Care I raised a transaction Dispute with the Bank and sent one letter and complaint acknowledgment to the Mumbai Head Office of ICICI Bank.
After that I received a letter from ICICI Bank saying that I have to pay the amount to them which I haven't payed them till now.
Now from last week i am getting calls from the ICICI people that I have to pay the amount and that too in cash and they will close the account.
I would also like to mention the following points
1. At the time of giving the card the bank people say that there is an insurance cover if the card is lost or stolen.
2. The bank people also did not provided me the details of the shops so I was not able to go there and get information about the transactions.
3. The Bank people also did not verify my signatures.

Kindly consider my application and help me out to resolve this issue.

In the last month there was a wrong cash debit from my credit card and after a long follow up I got it back on 20 th of last month.But on 1st this month they again taken the same from my account.As discussed with the customer care exec I fax one dispute letter to bombay office three days ago.But its not get back yet..
we are settle my credit card a/c through ref. no. ICNO1NO!/022009/28031/1. Letter no 0550781 dt on 28, 02, 09.but their representative tourcher every month .bank sent a new credit card statement . They are torcher unnecessrily.We want to closed my credit card ac.urgently.

Myself, Manoj Kumar Rout, holding an ICICI Credit card had given a standing instruction in December 2006 to my ICICI Credit card no.# 4477 XXXX XXXX 7004 for the bill pay(utility bill payment service) towards payment of my airtel Mobile (Mobile No.[protected] and Airtel account Number[protected] .

On May 2008 my airtel Connection converted to a corporate connection with the same mobile number but different Airtel account number(Mobile Number: [protected] and Airtel Account Number:[protected], So I called ICICI customer care to cancel the standing instruction and that is the only way we can do it. From May, 2008 onwards my company started paying the bill till date. After that no payment made through the utility bill payment (From ICICI credit card) till February 2009.

Though the bill amount for my connection was Rs 1316 for the month of February 2009 however, on 18th March 2009 a amount of Rs 21551.76 has been debited from my account and credited to Airtel Hyderabad on 28th may 2009. I raised so many requests towards the refund of the amount debited wrongly from my account (Request no # SR[protected], SR[protected] etc.), but all in vain. In fact for all my email communications with the bank I got number of contradictory replies. At the end I got to know that, AIRTEL can’t refund that amount to me as my connection is a corporate connection. With the help of my company representative Airtel refunded that amount on 8th sept. 2009 to my company and I got a cheque of amount Rs 21552.00, in favor of ICICI credit card# 4477 XXXX XXXX 7004 on 25th Sept. 2009 from my company.

Though this is the fault of ICICI credit card, they are denying it and charging late payment fees and interest and forcing me to pay another Rs. 10,500.00 for the same.

For your kind information -
1. If ICICI is correct saying, I did not cancel the standing instruction then why any payment hasn’t been made from my card for a period of 10 months (between May,2008 to Feb,2009) and suddenly on the month of march 2009 Rs 21551.76 debited from my account against my real bill amount for the concerned month was 1316.00
2. And the other thing is, while giving standing instruction I had mentioned the Airtel mobile number as well as the Airtel account number which was assigned to me with a copy of the bill at time of submission of application, but while the connection converted to a corporate connection the Airtel account number has been changed. So how the amount has been debited to a different account.

They are disturbing my peace of mind by harassing in different ways and imposing late payment fees and interest charges for the transaction that hasn’t been made on my part.

Please guide me to file any legal action against the bank or the issue could be resolved in any other way. Any help would be highly appreciated.

I have been china, where some crminal forced me to swipe the card with 84ooo rs of money. I reported to icic bank tey put it in dispute and then took a decision in favor of the merchant . Please help me bring justice to my case.
