[Resolved]  Indian Railways — Tatkal booking of no use

Dear Sir,

I have to travel from Ernakulam to Hyderabad on[protected]. I booked an e-ticket from irctc.co.in on[protected] at 08:14 a.m. with pnr number [protected] in tatkal quota for Sabari Express. When I started booking the ticket at 8.00 am, the number of available tickets were 119 for Second sleeper and 12 for 3 AC. But when I tried booking for 3AC it showed "not available" then I tried for 2nd sleeper and I got my tickets booked with WL/41, WL/42. Could anybody please tell me within 14 minutes how can the 160 tickets got booked.

The same issue happened with my father traveling from Agra to Hyderabad on[protected]. When he checked in the ticket reservation counter the availability was with WL/50 in Tatkal quota. He came out and got the confirmed ticket for the same train from a travel agent with additional charges of Rs. 150/- per person. The train is Dhakshin express.

I see that the online booking in tatkal quota is of waste (that too after charging additional in this quota).

Why do we need to pay additional (tatkal charges from train source to destination) for booking which is not trust worthy.

Please do take necessary action to solve this problem with Indian Railways. I will try to find a way to write this to the railway minister as well.

Thanks and regards,
Ravi Chandra Palle

boss,

u sd have hired a agent. he would have taken rs.300 & booked a tatkal ticket for u. i paid & got 3 confirmed tickets.

I strongly agree...the Tatkal booking facility of IRCTC is a complete waste of time...the server goes down as soon as the booking opens and then starts functioning only after all tickets are gone and the waiting list starts...

The facility is so flawed that often we have reached the payment gateway page (after a lot of frantic trials), made the payment, but still did not get the ticket, as IRCTC did not accept the payment from the bank. The bank debits the money from our account and then returns it a few days later...what kind of a service is that??

If IRCTC cannot handle this online facility, they should scrap it, instead of making us take all the pains to go thru it and end up terribly disturbed on all the incovenience and travel rearranegements.
