[Resolved] Indian Railways — Railway staff is fining people for following their own appeals | |||
IRCTC is appealing to general public through its ticket booking website that please don't take printout of your E-tickets and help the nation to save papers and their employees are fining people considering this as an offense, saying that IRCTC has nothing to do with Railway and Railway has not Passed on any such information to the public or the staff yet This is the case of A3 Tier 2 Car of Trivendrum Rajdhani Express on 27th September Morning at 12:45 am when Railway Officer S N Bodwal came in the car to check the tickets of the passenger. He asked Mr. Amit Sharma to show the ticket and when Mr. Sharma has shown the ticket to him on his laptop along with a valid identity proof. The said Railway officer asked him for Rs 50 as a fine. On asking that for which offense he is asking for penalty he said you have not taken the printout of your E-Ticket. Mr. Sharma described him and showed him the appeal by IRCTC on his laptop but he refused to accept that and specifically mentioned that IRCTC has nothing to do with the Northern Railway and Railway has not passed on any such information to the public or the staff yet. And the same officer has refused the passengers to give a certification of AC not working in 2 Tier AC Car of Trivendrum Rajdhani Express on the same day. Passengers were extremely unhappy with the kind of treatment they got in 2 Tier AC Class where all respectable and Senior level people travels The officer clearly refused to give any such certificate however the AC was not working for 3 flat hours in the train which people paid for. Copy of IRCTC Appeal on their ticket booking site - Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) - The printout in standard specified Performa containing reservation particulars, and instructions for use which can be used by the passenger along with the relevant authorizedIdentification, as travel authority for performing the journey. Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) - A screen-shot of the e-ticket displayed through laptops/palmtops/ Mobile phone is referred as Virtual Reservation Message (VRM). ERS/VRM along with any one of the eight prescribed ID proofs in original and the indication of the passenger(s)' name(s) in the Reservation Chart will authorize the passenger to travel. VRM combined with valid photo-id in original will be treated as an instrument on par with the ERS. ERS/VRM along with one of the eight prescribed proofs of identity in original will also authorize the passenger to enter the platform on the day of journey and he/she will not be required to purchase platform ticket. ERS/VRM along with original id proof will be required to be produced on demand of Ticket Checking Staff on the platform.
