[Resolved]  Michelin Tyres — Never Buy Michelin Tyres - not meant for Indian Roads

I purchased the Michelin tyres 3 months before from two dealer AM. Mehta and Darshan Tyres in Pune India. and one of the tyres got a bulge on the right side. I showed to the dealer who in turn called the Michelin Engineer. THe engineer had some discussion with the dealer and they discuss something withing themselves.

The engineer has inpsected the tyre and said that its due to some impact and there is a bulge on the side wall. The car run only 3000 km when I put the new tyres.

There is no mark on the Rim of any impact on the aloy wheels. The engineer has refuse to listen to my claim. Dealer has offered me a discounted tyre so that, his sale can happen.

I would like Michelin Management to look into it else I am planning to file a consumer complaint against it. Any loss to the car or life due to defective tyre will be a sole responsibility of Michelin

Thanks for your comments, I was about to replace my car tyre with michelin, now I need to rethink if its not suitable to indian roads.
--------Michelin Tyres not for use just for putting them on and Park your car[protected]

I thought its just me who is facing this problem of Bulgein my Cars Tyre, but after reading your complaint i found that its very similar case to mine. Even the Dealer was also the same, DARSHAN Tyres he simply sits quite and let the engineer say whatever he wants to say and then comments like because the problem has arised due to car was running, now somebody please ask this bloody that if the car will not run then what will it do ???? MY ADVICE...IF YOU ARE GOING for MICHELIN TYRES...then dont drive your car just PARK it somewhere and see that MICHELIN Tyres will give such a long life you've never imagined...
please do not use michelin tyres. i am also suffering from same probs

hi

have you bought XM1 or XM1+, please confirm
I am currently using Michelin tires for my car, I would like to bring to your attention my experience in using Michelin tires.

Below are brief points based on a timeline of events.
I had purchased 2 brand new Michelin ‘tubeless’ Tires, which I had been using on my Toyota Innova since then. (Chennai)
The 2 new tires had been used for less than a year (& approximately 10000 km), when scaling of the tire edges had been noticed on both the tires, I had immediately taken it to the tire dealer, who then informed the Michelin Advisor about the defect. The Michelin Advisor, after taking a look at the tires, informed me that;

• It is normal for the Michelin Tires to show such scaling due the Indian road conditions and the composition it is made of.
• Scaling might happen in Toyota Innova cars since the front of the car is very heavy.
• The Michelin Advisor also advised that the scaling is not at all a matter of concern and he asked me to continue to use & observe the tires for a period of 2 more months.

January 2012 – I had a flat tire and took the tire to the same dealer (from whom I had purchased the tires) for repair. On close observation it had been noticed that it is punctured in 3 or 4 places where the scaling had been earlier observed. Also, since I could get repeated punctures in all places where scaling had been observed which runs all around the tire, as advised by the dealer, I had to put a tube inside the ‘tubeless’ Michelin tyre to keep it running.

MY COMMENTS

I am currently being forced to use new Michelin ‘tubeless’ tyres by putting tube since I had no other choice to keep the tire running. This makes the Michelin Tires only at par with any other locally available cheap tires that runs on tubes. Had I known earlier, as advised by the Michelin Advisor that it is normal for such scaling to happen to Michelin tires on Indian road conditions on Toyota Innova cars, I would have kept my options open while deciding which tires to purchase for my car and also be vociferous on my recommendations to my friends.
Sorry to state that, I am grossly displeased with Michelins attitude towards a customer such as myself for providing me with a defective product followed up by immature responses given to me by the Michelin Advisor when the defect had been raised up.

Highlights:
I have used these tires only on Normal Indian City roads and had never used them off-road or on un-tarred roads.
The dealer too found it strange and hence requested Michelin Advisor to come and have a look at it.
The Michelin Advisor also stated that this happens very rarely and he s just seen one case like this before.
Thinking of the above, do I consider these as defective tyres or that I made a wrong choice by choosing this brand for my car on Indian roads?

I changed the 4 tyres of my Chevy magnum 3 months back - 2 tyre already buldged 1 got punctured twice at nearby location and is useless... i am so depressed of this lack of quality - Michelin needs to rise up to indian road condition - else you will be cheated!!!

Hmm looks like Michelin is not a good choice, if they think they are American company and say their tires will perform badly - so i am going to skip them for my tire change today
thx for advice...I was also supposed the buy michelin...but now wont buy at all
Greetings!
I hope customer care reads this aloud to the management of Michelin.
The hope of good life expectation of the product (5 tyres) didn't last long, one of them went flat and it was just 3 months after purchasing it.
On top of this there was awesome empathy from the customer care team when called in for assistance (which was promised with in 7 working days) CLTN231213OM7 raised on 23 december. This went unheard/neglected for almost a month and I had to call up customer care team to check the status, which was once received with lot of empathy, and the technical team was roped in after a great struggle. Mr.Kumar ([protected]) from technical team informed me that I would be called in 7 days and research on the faulty tyre.
But its almost 5-6 weeks now and none is worried if the issue has been addressed or not .
This is one classic example of "customer service". This incident has strongly taught me a lesson "how not to loose yourself for a brand?". i agree Michelin is truly international but in terms of service ...The worst experience.
I too had a very bad experience with Michelin tyres. I bought a new Honda city fitted with Michelin tyres. After running for just 1600 Km, its one of the rear tyres got a big cut and I had to use tube in a tubeless tyre. After running for 7400 Km, another tyre got a bulge and a cut on its side wall. I showed them the first tyre, they didn't bother and blamed the Indian roads. For the second tyre, they are not registering the complaint. I wonder why Honda is using their tyres. One should never use Michelin tyres It's a horrible company and I had the worst experience with them.

Hi, I have already moved to Michelin Energy XM2 tyres last week for my WagonR.
If i could have read these reviews earlier then would have moved to Bridgestone instead of Michelin. Bad Luck.
Currently it is running fine. Very very less noise, nice gripping on wet surface, nice braking,
very comfortable to drive. But don't know how it will perform in Indian roads in long run.
Let's see if i face any quality issues from Michelin.
Highly recommended don’t buy Michelin Tires :)
I buy b’coz highest price and good reputation but that was worst decision.
Earlier company fitted MRF ZVTS ran 50k and only puncher 8 times all four tires but this Michelin ran only 6 K km and had 10 puncher including converted 1 tubeless to tube on same road condition which I am using earlier.
When I called Mehta Tire, Pune, they told me we can’t guaranteed such puncher issue :) :)
Bridges tone is having good reputation, I heard from my garage.
Next time I will go with MRF ZVTS which I had once.
Never ever buy Michelin tyres. Got 4 tyre for i20 within 10000 kms two of tyres have developed side bulges. No response from their engineers about the issue . Customer service is non existent in the company. Never buy these as they are not made for indian roads.
With you guys, , , , , Bought Michelin few months back, was that dint check these review before..

Michelin is certainly not for indian roads, new Michelin XM2 tyre burst while going over small pot holes... thankfully i could control the car and alive, ,

Scrapped my new Michelin XM2 tyre and went back to Apollo.

Life is precious than few bucks i paid for these xm2 tyre.
Forgot to mentions, many puncture i faced during short time Michelin XM2 where on my car...

even my 70K run with Apollo had less punctures than Michelin XM2 in few months...

Michelin Tyres Suck, , , , , ,
I have a Mercedes E250 one year old and on a recent road trip, one tyre burst, hitting a small projection on the road surface, tyre tread is intact and the impact also nothing great, I would have had 100s of such impacts in my old Honda city. The tyre dealer declared it can not be repaired and I am shelling out about Rs.17, 500 for a new tyre. The nick is about 5-6 mm long on the side wall. One I have an expensive car, but this came out of the blue. After reading these comments on Micheln, I am not sure if I have choice for a E250 Mercedes.
I am in planning to buy 4 numbers Micheln Tyres for my Verna. Please suggest?

Regards
Hey guys...Anup here...manager in Darshan Tyres, Pune. We keep all brands but My whole sales team asks every customer that what kind o[censored]se (Ex. Pune or out of Pune, On road/off road), km after you are changing tyres and then suggest exact brand as suitable to your car. So my suggestion is visit our nearest branch and concern with us before choosing your brand.
Thanks and Regards
