[Resolved]  Whirlpool India — Pathetic customer service - Hyderabad

I had registered a complaint with Whirlpool customer care, here in Hyderabad on the 16th (Complaint number: [protected]), as my washing machine stopped working. A total goofball showed up on the 17th who had no clue about what was needed to be done. Even his tester was not working. He undid and then tightened some screws here and there and finally declared that the timer is faulty. He said he will bring a new one in 2 days and left.

It has been one week now and I have not heard from either the service center or the customer care. Even after repeated calls to customer care, no action has been taken. Every morning I call, I am assured that the technician will visit my home that day. I had to take half day leaves to wait for him. Till this time, I have not received one call from Whirlpool assuring me as to when the problem will be solved. The call center just refuses to give the phone number of the service centre.

This is just pathetic customer service. I would have assumed some sort of professional behavior from such a company.
Please think twice before buying a whirlpool product in Hyderabad.

I also had a similar experience with the Whirlpool customer service in Hyderabad.
Their technicians are totally ignorant and do not even handle the machine well.
I think their cc centre in hyderabad is a mere makeshift one. Seems Whirlpool is not serious about its business in Hyderabad.
Somehow I feel the cc in Bangalore was much better.
True, I too had a very similar experience with both a washing & refrigerator. Worst Service. Never think to buy a whirlpool product. After sales and also the quality of the product is very bad. My refrigerator freezer door got rusted and when I complained they accepted to replace the door free of cost, even after 2 years the door was never replaced, I keep calling CC now and then and give me all cock & bull stories. I never heard of rust forming on refrigerators till date of any other companies.
I am a Joint Editor for a reputed Urdu Daily in Hyderabad. I purchased on 16-Feb-2008 three articles of Whirlpool brand from M/s.Digital Shoppy, Saroornagar, Hyderabad. The invoice no.26A0707495, dated:[protected]. I have spent about Rs.18, 000-00 for these articles namely (1) Magic Cook (2) Washing Machine (3) Grinder Mixer. Of these articles, the Magic Cook (Micro Oven) which costed me Rs.9, 500-00 has not been working since June, 2008. After some oral complaints, I got the complaint registered on 23-July-2008. Its no.HD[protected]. The next day one service engineer Mr.Sudhakar Reddy attended the complaint and informed that one small part (Fuse) need replacement but nothing was done and he didnt turn up. Subsequently, after waiting for few days, I made 17 telephone calls during these 3 and 1/2 months. Every time the answer is that my complaien tis pending and it would be attended to. Later on when I express my deep displeasure they gave me the following telephone nos.65526670, [protected] & [protected]. When contacted, there is no response from any of these numbers. I gave a complaiant before Ramadan but the article is neither repair nor changed even after Ramadan till now.

Now I am repenting for having purchsed these articles from your company by wasting my hard earned money. Most of my friends discouraged me from purchasing your brand but I did not heed to their advise. In view of the poor response from your company, I am forced to give this final notice. My article is in warranty period. I insist that it should be changed within a fortnight. Otherwise I will be forced to take other measures including approaching a consumer form.

I totally agree. I am having a refrigerator problem (Whirlpool FF350 Elite purchased in Sep 2003) and an alarm goes on at night - every night - sometimes at 3 am, 2 am, 4 am and we hurriedly get up to switch the fridge off.

I have registered a complaint - some half skilled technician came, did some welding to the air filter at the back - and went off. The problem persists - even last night the alarm went off at 4:30am in the morning.

Now nobody is interested to even register my complaint at the service center number - my last case is surprisingly "closed". By whose authority -if I may ask - since the problem remains?

Pathetic service, a least bothered attitude. I shall never ever buy a Whirlpool product again.
My microwave complaint in respect of change of magnetron is not attended to by whirlpool hyderabad service centre. Always they send a technician who is not capable of servicing it and he gives flimsy excuse that he did not carry proper tools etc. I hope this complaint would ensure that you would attend to my requirement by sending a skilled technician and allow me to utilise your pruduct worth Rs 14000.

I have a automatic washing machine and the water level sensor has stopped working.Since Jan 31st 2009 I have been trying to chase the service center - a standard response is that we have put your complaint on priority and our technician will attend in 24 hours. It is more than 200 hours now. The service center stopped lifting my calls from last Friday. I phoned from a firned number and same response. I shouted at the person and he said that I can tell the head office in Gurgaon who does not support them!

What to do now - I have spent Rs 18000/- and also taken 3+2 yrs warranty.

Should'nt we organise a 'Whirlpool Dissatisfied Customer Club' and go to Consumer Forum?

Sir,

Under the instructions of my client Mr. Vikash Singh Bahia r/o St. no. 15/3 Dhobiana Road, Preet Nagar, Bathinda, to file a criminal, civil and a case in the District Consumer Forum against you. As he had bought a refrigerator from the shop of Respondent no.1 and this refrigerator was manufactured by you i.e. Respondent no.2. So before filing any case against you, I am serving you a Legal Notice as follows:-

That I have already served you registered legal notice dated
23/02/09 bearing Reff. No. 1521 but now I have received back the same legal notice being unserved to you and the reason behind this unserving of the notice by the postal department is not legible. So now I am sending you this mail before filing case and complaint against you i.e. respondent no.2 and you should consider this mail as a legal notice.
1. That my client is permanent r/o St. no. 15/3 Dhobiana Road, Preet Nagar, Bathinda. Before the starting of summer season he felt a need of a refrigerator for his household use.
2. That in this process my client met you i.e. respondent no.1 and showed his requirement of a refrigerator. Looking at his requirement and urgent need for the refrigerator, you respondent no.1 induced my client to purchase a refrigerator of Whirlpool company manufactured by respondent no.2.
3. That under your inducement my client had purchased a whirlpool refrigerator of 180 lt. bearing serial no. INCO 71217903 from you i.e. respondent no.1 by paying the whole amount. The photocopy of bill issued by you is attached herewith. Before the delivery of the said refrigerator, you i.e. respondent no. 1 assured my client that this refrigerator is having warranty of 5 years in case of any manufacturing defect in it. My client would not purchased this refrigerator if you i.e. respondent no.1 did not assured him about the warranty period and induced him, and you further assured my client that you will provide free service towards the refrigerator of my client at his house for 5 years if there occur any defect in it.
4. That the privity of contract of my client is directly with you i.e. respondent no.1 being seller of defected refrigerator.
5. That on the next day to delivery of refrigerator a body colour of the said refrigerator started losing its colour and showing wrinkles at some spots of body of the refrigerator. This defect was manufacturing defect as my client did not use this refrigerator even for a full day.
6. That immediately my client met you i.e. respondent no.1 and recorded his complaint in your office but he was astonished. Then you replied that my client will have to pay Rs.1500/- for removal of this defect but when my client showed his inability to pay such big amount for such manufacturing defect, you i.e. respondent no.1 started threatening my client and put him out of your office.
7. That again my client contacted you personally for number of times and reminded you about the same defect but on each and every time you intentionally ignored the complaint of my client.
8. That the refrigerator in question is manufactured by you i.e. respondent no.2 and sold by you i.e. respondent no.1. The promise of future warranty was made by you i.e. respondent no.1 on behalf of you i.e. respondent no.2. Hence you both are jointly and vicariously liable in civil, criminal and before Consumer forum in case of complaint in this regard is made by my client.

So by serving this mail as a legal notice to you, I hereby directed you that either to exchange the defected refrigerator with the new one or to pay Rs.50, 000/- to pay my client on the ground of harassment, mental and physical agony, within 15 days of receipt of this mail. In case of failure at your part my client shall file a civil, criminal case and a complaint before the District Consumer Forum against you and in such a case you both will be jointly, vicariously and severely liable for the future consequences thereof.

A copy of this mail is being retained in my office for future record and litigation, if any.

Never buy whirlpool product. I bought washing machine. From fisrt month itself it has vibration and leakage problem. I keep complaining to their service desk. Some time engineers visit and they do quick fixes and problems starts again. Their service quality is very poor. I am totallly dissatisfied with their product and aftersale service. Never buy their products.
looks like all the technicians have been asked to provide the same diagnosis statement that the timer isnot working. My semi automatic washing machine was purchased during Feb last year. 3 weeks ago it stopped working normally and the technician diagnosed it to be a timer issue. He said he will come back ina week with a new timer. Week 1 passed, week 2 passed, the call center said the part has to come from Pune so its taking time...now its the 3rd week.

I think I need to file a complaint in the consumer court

I have bought a refrigerator in december 2007 from Digital Shoppy Guntur. in september 2008 the refrigerator was stopped working.So i complained at the showroom and they have given the auth.dealers phone number.when i called certain dealer so many times they have visited my house and told that the compressor has failed, and we will replace it in a weak.But after my thorough following and number of calls they have completed the work in DEcember 2008 by charging me 1300/- as charges. Now the problem repated in this month april 2009 .then i have repeated the same process and they are saying in a weak we will replace the compressor. what do ?

I have booked complaint for my woilpool refrigerator on 18th june 2009 and daily follow up is therebut no one from hyderabda is attending it
Exactly the same with me also.Such a worst company after purchase of an item the WHIRLPOOL WILL NOT TAKE CARE ATALL.
Whirlpool's phonic complaint service is useless. No one responds to it.
I bought a washing machine 13.3.09 in Lucknow and it went bad.
Fortunately the dealer in Lucknow is helpful and could goad the local office into activity. On 16.7.09 they took away my washing machine to correct the defects as the machine was only a few months old. Since then they have kept the machine and did not even convey the status till the dealer again helped.The company is callous about after sales service.
Please refer the complaint number cn[protected] that was created many weeks back. When I called this morning to check the status; WP customer service representative tells me that the complaint logged is for the stand and the cleaning powder, when I have called customer service 5 times till now stating that Sai Refrigeration (partner company of Whirlpool) have asked me change the body of the washing machine that costs 5000/- because the base of the machine is rusted.

I bought the washing machine for 16000/- and asking me to spend another 5000/- (when I am under warranty) leaves me with the thought what a fool I must be to have purchased this washing machine. Washing machine is a product that will be surrounded with water and never did I think rusting can occur, hence making me think the product design is flawed.

Poor Service management because, for solving the vibration problem in my washing machine; first time WP service partner came and made me change the stand, then bunch of rookies came and said they don’t know how to handle the front loading washing machine and finally service engineer comes and tells us that I have to change the body by showing some rust at the bottom of the machine. Above process took 3 weeks. When I complained to whirlpool saying changing the body is too expensive and I would like Whirlpool engineers to visit and see if anything can be done; I got another promise from service center saying that we will send a senior engineer and gave me hope I may not have to change the body. Guess what nobody turned up. I called this morning again to check the status and I have lost trust in the whirlpool system.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM WHIRLPOOL. JUST AS THE HEADING SAYS - Pathetic Customer Service. I have purchased washing machine from them about 5 months ago. First of all, the machine itself is pathetic. It has design flaws (650S, WhiteMagic). About 3 month ago it started giving me problem DE. (delay error). Upon inspection by service engineer it was confirmed that its a fault in PBC board. Around the same time one side of the top closing lid came off. To my utter shock, I found the whole lid is GLUED to the bearings of machine. GLUED! NO STUDS. NO SCREWS. I want to personally slap the person who came up with this hideous design. Its a WASHING MACHINE for christ sake. The glue WILL come off any time.

Anyway, now its been 1.5 months since I registered complaint at their polite but powerless call center. They will take your calls very nicely but they cant do anything about it.
So finally when I got offensive did I start getting answers (thanks to the service engineer who gave me some useful phone nos.)
Then these ppl told me they will be replacing my machine (BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANOTHER CLOSING LID). Another shocker. Then they gave me 3 different dates of delivery and as usual NOBODY CAME. Finally are REPEATEDLY CALLING THEM, what else... another shock. I was told its been 5 months past - so now I have to pay Rs. 500 (D.D) and only then I will get delivery the next day.
I spent nearly 1.5 months to get this reply. My 5 months period was over doing this stupidity. On top of it (whew!) they wont accept cash, cheque or an online payment. Only DD. How convenient!!

BOTTOMLINE: WHIRLPOOL INDIA SUCKS BIG TIME!! Don't buy anything from these crooks. I would even advice Kajol & Ajay Devgan to cut off their ties because its definitely "reverse" effecting their brand value.
We have a whirlpool elantra inverter 800 VA.
We have launched complain on 9th Oct., 2009 bearing complaint no. 5148. Today is 17th i.e. 8 days but no one has come to check it. It is worst experience we have seen when compared to other companies. We have called many times about 12 times but no one has come to check it. We have taken the product thinking it is a good company but we never knew that you have such a bad after sales facility.
